I met Patti when I worked at a club where she performed at a club in Chicago. She shyly asked for a cup of black coffee. After I gave it to her she said thank you and stepped back into the shadows quietly and just kind of disappeared. An hour later she was on stage and was amazing. I had met many very famous musicians but none were as humble as she. Many thanks for posting this!!

Still whenever I hear this song takes me right back to 1978, aged 14, playing the record over and over in my bedroom belting out every word....♥️

Very talented lady. As powerful a song as ever-it will always be her song.

It's sureal to know that the song that made her so successfull lay on just this tiny moment of a lover waiting for a phone call. It make me love the song even more.

She does this well...its lost none of its power over the years....immortal...

I love how she grins almost bashfully at the audience and Remneck between verses. An artist who truly cares about reaching her audience in a meaningful way, and still does so remarkably well!

I bought Easter when it came out! I still Love it and Patti and her band PSG. A lot of friends thru out my life never understood Patti and My Love for her since 1975, Not even my wife ,,, I don't know if Patti would ever read these comments here on You Tube, but I would like her to know we are still out here , LOVING her music in 2020!!!!!! Great Patti!! I was introduced to your album Easter in 78 when I was a senior in highschool!! I fell in love with it!! I was lucky enough to find the music book years later and play many of the songs on my Baby Grand!! Much Peace & Love

One thing I find amazing is there is little to no reverb on her mic. Rare to never do you hear singers not using good amounts of reverb. It enhances their voices. Patti doesn’t need any help at all!!!!

Very cool story, and a classic song. I first heard it when Patti opened for the Rolling Stones in the Spring of 78. (They were playing stadiums, but played a couple of shows in small venues. This was at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, which holds about 4,900). My reaction was, *WOW*, what a great song. I don't believe Bruce ever released a studio version of Because the Night, but he played it at many of the 1978 "Darkness on the Edge of Town" tour shows, and plays it occasionally, still. I first experienced it, coincidentally, at his show at the same Fox Theater on September 30. I also heard it at Winterland in San Francisco on December 15, 1978, with about 5,000 others who were packed in. i love that story! i remember running home...hoping the red light on the answering machine was on...my heart dropped when it wasn't....lol

I love her music, but this one is my favorite, well maybe tied with “I’m Dancing Barefoot”.

That audience is about as enthusiastic as a tub of ice cubes.
