saw her many times at CBGB--so brave and terrific
Who else was so girly and grown up , so tough and so fragile, so streetwise and so innocent , so solitary and yet so sought after.
I don't know why, but this was always one of my favorites of Patti Smith. I love all "Horses" album, but i have a special feeling for this song.

Yup, Yup, Yup. Patti is awesome, Horses was super sweet and this song is extra special. I never say this so here goes- just saying...
I just love how punk musicians pay homage to ska and reggae, Patti Smith rules hard out.
" The words for Redondo Beach were written in 1971. I was sharing a space near the Chelsea Hotel with Robert and my sister Linda. One afternoon I had a rare argument with my sister and she left. She didn't return and by nightfall I was worried. Needing time to think , I took an F trian to Coney Island and sat on the littered beach until the sun rose. I came back , wrote the draft and fell asleep. When I awoke she had returned. I showed her what I'd written and we never quarreled again . " Patti Smith , Patti Smith Complete 1975 - 2006 ( 2006 )

The Glamazon Club , I saw Patti Smith in 1978, benefit for Bill Bradley’s Senator campaign, with her, Paul Simon and Belushi/Ackroyd, doing what became the Blues Brothers, but with the Stanky Brown Band. Anyway, she came on stage, and while she was singing, she became beautiful. Like a goddess. Great night.

Thanks for the post. From this story came the demo in '72 which IMHOP is way better than the Horses version. Captures the emotional energy of what happened better (and produced better, no offense to John Cale).
Just knowing the masterpiece in perfect days movie. ❤❤
I was always curious about this song since I grew up in Redondo Beach canda catchy
Incredible Absolutely Poetic
Patti I love you !
goat
Love her!
Genia
Oh God, I fell for you... 🙌
The band sounds pretty much like they do on Horses here. It was always plain that the Patti Smith Band was pretty damned good! That Thunderbird is sounding almost like a Ricky bass here and that's cool. Everyone wondered why I had such a teen crush on Patti back then (still do!). Let them wonder. Idiots.
"...skinny punk who hammered out dirty poetry + sang surreal rock songs..." Amy Gross , Mademoiselle ( 1975 )
Of course, you know Patti… We Love You and the band since “Hey Joe” ned your beginnings with your beautiful Poetry and winning personality! The below is but a suggestion and maybe don’t recall myself from the JB band and his premature departure from the earthly realm in 1997. Such a dumb lapse in judgement while his half witted, passive company just sat by as he sought some rejuvenation in the Mississippi River. A great loss to the American canon of music and he was highly blessed and evolved soul and always gave his most on every occasion and I am blesssed to have seen him from the stage wings more than anyone. Who would have thought? Such advice is not typical of me, but perhaps you could benefit as you remain teachable which is quality I strive for as I avoid stagnation and blind spots. Perhaps it helps, perhaps it is a load of crap. I hope you will play Fenmark again soon and we can perhaps meet through Tony Shanahan. Who knows? Regardless, keep on with the wild spirit and your prayer to love and the indomitable spirit.
Thanks for this!
" I'm a woman + I love men, but I also enjoy women. Female images excite me more than male images. In my poetry, I write about women because I'm a woman + artists are very narcissistic. People are narcissistic " Patti Smith 1975
Punk God...
lindo!!!!!!!!!!! Ouvindo e aprendendo!!!!!!!!!
Mám husí kůži, úžasný!
I love the poetry and the use of punky reggae’ as Marley would Call it. Though, “ Redondo Beach” would benefit greatly by the use of double time or doubling the guitar placement to twice ad much during the chorus to give it that edge so it does’t lag when it comes to the thema after the verse. The song is still great and this is coming from a fellow accomplice in the auras arts and knowing a thing or two, but that is but an afsides to consider during your live set.

Go Rimbaud!
Like this song.... but I don't know what the heck she's saying!
