I ran away to London with my first boyfriend Derek. Later Derek wrnt back and he was working for Vivienne Westwood and he was at the very middle of the punk movement in London. Siouxi was a friend (is a friend of his) and (he was bisexual) he and his partner were in a band called Jimmy the Hoover managed by Malcolm McLaren. I wish we had both stayed in London when we first ran off...but if we had I wouldn't have gone to West Berlin and had such an amazing time and would have missed the whole Berlin vibe which was incredible (of course I probably wouldn't have started self medications my back injury with street drugs...but you can't change the past and I wouldn't swap my experience with anyone). I would have loved to have met Patti Smith at a young age though.

Wow, I adore those times.. NY, CBGB'S, (+ scene, music, and everything around it) Warhol/VU period, No Wave Cinema, etc... Punk London, and all great art, music, lifestyle, and fashion that came out of that scene/period. PS: You where in Berlin? I love the gritty '80s period when Nick Cave lived there, and where this great movie Himmel Uber Berlin was shot, fenomenal times... I bet you had a wonderful time there, (eventho the street dope, I know how it can eat you up) maybe you can tell us something about your time in Berlin, I'd love to hear it!

A state of mind.

I've been listening to her music since the 80's and really don't consider anything produced nowadays in the line of music, "music"! She is NYC or Jersey all the way and there aint no sugar coating that! I don't know her from Adam but I do like her music.

She did kick poetry in the ass. Lucky for us. It must have been exciting to be in New York during that period. (I was shy and nerdy but was the queen of the winter carnival. I can relate to the Spartan thing.)
