GREAT reaction to LIVING LEGEND, Ms. Patti 'BADASS' Labelle. She is a vocal BEAST. In her prime (up to her late 60's) she was UNTOUCHABLE. Vocally, she was on another level of pure greatness. Patti Labelle and her musical director, the LATE, GREAT James 'Bud' Ellison, co-wrote "You Are My Friend." Together, they were the original DYNAMIC DUO. His arrangements during her live performances, were 2nd to none.
My man on drums (who I grew up with) was John Blackwell Jr.! Rest In Peace to a fantastic drummer!!

I adore this woman !!! I remember seeing her on Soul Train when I was a kid and she was Patti LaBelle and the Blue Notes . If you reallly want to hear this queen sing then Ashley you to hear do Somewhere over the Rainbow Live . These women touches my soul . ✌️ ❤️🙏🏻

I can't tell you how many times I got to see Patti live. Even got lucky enough to see her at a couple of amusement parks in the early 90's. This is her signature song. Always brings down the house. You should also check out "Isn't It A Shame" that she did while she was with the group "Labelle." Probably my favorite by her....... Love your channel. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely wonderful! As great as this live performance is, please check out the studio version. A bit different and well produced. Also, another great version was done by Sylvester with Two Tons Of Fun/The Weather Girls backing him up.
