Patti Austin & James Ingram - Baby, Come To Me • TopPop
Музыка
James Edward Ingram (February 16, 1952 - January 29, 2019) was an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. He was a two-time Grammy Award-winner and a two-time Academy Award nominee for Best Original Song.
Ingram, an Ohio native, got his start as a musician with the band Revelation Funk and later played keyboards for Ray Charles. He was nominated for 14 Grammy Awards, winning for best male R&B performance for his song "One Hundred Ways" in 1981 and best R&B performance for a duo or group in 1984 for "Yah Mo B There."
His duet with Patti Austin, "How Do You Keep the Music Playing," earned an Oscar nomination for best original song in 1983.
Ingram was also nominated for two Golden Globe Awards -- one in 1994 for best original song for "The Day I Fall in Love" and again in the same category the following year for "Look What Love Has Done."
He co-wrote Michael Jackson's hit song "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" with Quincy Jones.
James Ingram visited the TopPop studios in Hilversum, the Netherlands twice in 1983.
He performed ‘Party Animal’ from his 1983 album ‘It’s Your night’ on 28 October 1983
Earlier that year, on 19 February 1983 he performed his duet with Patti Austin ‘Baby Come To Me’ for the TopPop cameras.
"Baby, Come to Me" is a love ballad from Patti Austin's 1981 album Every Home Should Have One, sung as a duet by Austin and James Ingram. It was written by Rod Temperton (formerly of Heatwave). The song was released as a single in April 1982, peaking at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, several months later the popular American soap opera General Hospital began to feature the song heavily, as the love theme for the character Luke Spencer. The single was re-released in October 1982, and reached #1 on the chart in February 1983.

Because NOWADAYS young people don't know what it is to WRITE, ARRANGE, COMPOSE, SING etc. their own music and songs, its done for them and they don't like to work hard for what they want...the artists you like such as in this video had to be talented. Thank god for sound recordings and videos! The arrangement of this track is classic, it moves the soul. I remember going to the studio years ago to lay down tracks of music before vocals, its hard work, fun and rewarding but nevertheless hard work.

Well,I'm a 64 yr old musician,& I'm finding that young people are hipper to old school music than I used to think.Had lunch recently with a friend at a nice bar/restaurant,they have pool tables,a young black couple were shooting pool, this song came on,& the young lady was ecstatic, dancing & singing along.Did my heart good.

I WAS RAISED ON THIS KIND OF MUSIC, BEING PUERTO RICAN AND ALL, AND MY PARENTS WERE BOTH PUERTO RICANS AS WELL, AND THEY LOVED THIS MUSIC!!
HAPPY 72ND BIRTHDAY PATTI AUSTIN (AUGUST 10, 2022)
I went to high school with Patti In Bay Shore, NY, and sat next to her in choir class taught by Miss Ough. In addition, I performed with her in couple musicals we put on in the high school auditorium. Not once have I ever heard her warble off-key, screech or whisper. The woman SINGS! She's hysterically funny and very humble. She was jetting off all over the world in the late 60s...winning international awards, going to Hollywood (if I remember correctly, Quincy Jones is her godfather) and never dropped names or bragged about it. Her parents were great people also. I saw her perform a number of years ago at a jazz club in Seattle and went backstage to say "hello" and we immediately started laughing and joking around as if we'd not been in touch for decades! She's a class act.

Thinkin' back in time When love was only in my mind I realize, ain't no second chance You've got to hold on to romance Don't let it slide There's a special kind of magic in the air When you find another heart that needs to share Baby, come to me Let me put my arms around you This was meant to be And I'm, oh so glad, I found you Need you ev'ry day Gotta have your love around me Baby, always stay 'Cause I can't go back to livin' without you Spendin' ev'ry dime To keep you talkin' on the line That's how it was And all those walks together Out in any kind of weather Just because There's a brand-new way Of looking at your life When you know that love Is standing by your side Baby, come to me Let me put my arms around you This was meant to be And I'm oh so glad I found you Need you ev'ry day Gotta have your love around me Baby, always stay 'Cause I can't go back to livin' without you The nights can be cold There's a chill to ev'ry evenin' When you're all alone Don't talk anymore 'Cause you know that I'll be here To keep you warm (Oh, darling keep me warm) Baby, come to me (Come to me) Let me put my arms around you This was meant to be (My love) And I'm oh so, glad I found you (Oh, so glad I found you) Need you ev'ry day (Ev'ry day) Gotta have your love around me (Gotta have you) Baby, always stay 'Cause I can't go back to livin' without you Come to me (Let me put my arms around you) Let me put my arms around you This was meant to be (Hey, I need you ev'ry day, baby) And I'm oh, so glad I found you Need you ev'ry day Gotta have your love around me (Gotta have you and I want you to stay) Baby, always stay 'Cause I can't go back to livin' without you Come to me (Come to me) Let me put my arms around you (Love me, love me, baby) This was meant to be And I'm, oh so glad, I found you

Lord have mercy , if you will, whomever is reading this, listen to the lyrics and imagine that this is God speaking to you...God finds his lost sheep!!!
The song is dedicated to a very very special friend of mine who has passed away . My very best friend was absolutely brilliant lady and a fantastic laugh to be with . I will always cherish her. God Bless my very best mate.
RIP James Ingram 1952-2019
Every time I hear this beautiful song, it reminds me of someone I met when I was 18. I haven't seen him for a long time. I am now 66 and still feel the same about him. A lost romance 😢😢😢😢😢 xx
This song was big, many years ago. Some of the best work of James Ingram and Patty Austin!
Patti is much like wine. She's gotten better looking in her golden years.

This duet is real music to everyone's ear. James and Patti are pure magic!
It’s beautiful to see women and men in love…I grew up watching those romance movies…that’s what gave me inspiration and power in my message…GIRLS, don’t EVER replace men with women.
Love how they look at each other
Can't believe that he's gone. RIP James Ingram
