There is no worse feeling while playing Pokemon than when like 4 field conditions go off at the end of every turn because everyone has lefties and sand is active and one guy is burned.

The funny thing is that this is a non-problem that gamefreak just refuses to fix. Just have the triggers not take a billion years to complete, or only notify you of their activation the first time a mon is sent out. Having a 5+ second delay at the end of each turn is such a meatfist solution.

@@TheAngryBarethe fact that it’s still a problem in gen 9 is absolutely ridiculous. It’s such an easy fix
1:45 That's not a problem of Leftovers, that's a problem with Gamefreak insisting on the battles running like it's still gen1.😟
I recommend Quagsire and Flareon theorems, they’re the ones that were most hotly requested and are a lot of fun

The quagsire theory might be my favorite one. Abilities are definitely one of my favorite things about Pokemon
13:00 in Gen 3 weather called by abilities (like Tyranitar’s signature Sand Stream) lasted until the end of battle or something triggered a different weather effect. So yeah, sand was dominant at the time.

Full Restores in a competitive environment as it currently exists would suck but I think it would be really cool if there was a tournament environment where everyone had access to the same amount of healing items but there was no healing between battles and it was a battle of attrition similar to an Elite 4 run
@byeguyssry
4 ай бұрын
It would still suck. If you're winning but your opponent uses a Full Restore, but you don't, you'll probably lose. So the best option is to respond by using a Full Restore, then you'll probably win. But then if your opponent uses a Full Restore again he'll probably win so you should probably use another Full Restore and so on... I also assume we're doing a system that counts the amount of wins you have to determine the winner rather than knocking out the lower. Since that would mean you ought to just spam all your items if you are about to lose.
*I will smite you for the Leftovers slander.*
Your Giratina reaction was actually the first vid of yours I ever saw. Agreed, probably the most hype moment in a Pokemon game and a nice challenge for once.
27:20 After Alakazam gained nasty plot in its movepool, its Mega has actually been ubers in national dex (A smogon metagame that brings back removed mechanics like megas, pursuit, z moves, etc)!
4:58 In Gen 5 Ubers, virtually every Arceus form was viable, just that some were much more niche than others (like Bug, Ice, Dragon or Flying); but there were still like at least 6, that being Arceus Normal, Ghost, Ground, Fairy, Water, and Electric.
Silly Pat, Gen 7 didn’t get any movies. Not focused on its Pokemon like Kalos anyway. Those were the years of I Choose You and its timeline (and Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution)

Even that seems unnecessary, since all berries introduced in gens 4 and earlier have flavor stats in the bag.
Leftovers is useful for defensive Pokémon I don’t like the life orb recoil damage
Patterz is bad at math if you did 55% they would go down to 45% then heal 6% from leftovers to 51% then another 55% would kill so yes 10% buffs do matter
Patterz only uses Choice items. So make sure to choice-lock him folks, he's right .His battles only take like 6 turns cause he gets swept after letting something set up on a choice lock.

ngl a then we fight video about using moves and or items that aren't in S/V would be insanely fun
Patterz, to your observation about resist berries not being really utilized in any of the "then we fight" videos, that's because you guys usually just pray to roll a busted ability that gives a type immunity instead. Like "Well-Baked Body" on a Steel type, or "Sap Sipper" on a Swampert to completely nullify the 4x Grass weakness, or the classic Lightning Rod/Volt Absorb on Gyarados. Also Tera completely makes resist berries redundant in gen 9. But I think you should still give them a chance because of the surprise factor. Being able to stay in on a weakness without committing Tera is huge a lot of the time. For example: imagine being D-Dance Gyarados with Earthquake. You kill something, then Raging Bolt comes in. "Oh no, Raging Bolt is gonna just revenge kill my poor Gyarados before I can EQ him!! I have to switch out or sack Gyara." Just kidding. Stay in because Wakan Berry will reduce the damage from Thunderclap, then EQ that idiot Raging *_Dolt_* and laugh. (I don't have anything against Raging Bolt, I just think its funny to come up with stupid names for paradox Pokemon, like changing Roaring Moon to "Soaring Goon" or "Boring Spoon". Or changing Walking Wake to "Stalking Steak".) Edit: Patterz, in regards to Boots over Leftovers, "Its nice to have options isn't it?" is a nice sentiment, but its only a sentiment. Because when you have the choice between 6% recovery and completely ignoring the 12% tax from switching onto Stealth Rocks (its only 12% if you're only NEUTRAL to rocks, so imagine being able to ignore the 25% tax from being rocks weak or the 50% tax from being QUAD rocks weak), then there's no real choice. You take the boots, every time. And that's if there's ONLY Stealth Rocks. Imagine not having to worry about the spikes that your opponent stacked up, or worse, the TOXIC spikes that they stacked twice. And that's not even factoring in the Sticky Webs that they threw down. Sure, Kricketune is a deplorably awful piece of garbage, truly not fit to even wear the name "Pokemon", but at least it can set up Sticky Webs before dying with a shred of its dignity left. Just kidding, my opponent's sweeper has Heavy Duty Boots on, so my Kricketune can't even do the one thing its useful for.
LET'S GOOOOO! False Swipe Gaming content is prime reaction content, and I'm so happy Patterz is doing so!
Black sludge is actually really bad in gen 9 because of terastallization. It's kinda crazy.
Me, screaming in the Tera Raid that I do alone with a Pokémon with leftovers that I forgot to take off.
Nah, when Benny bent down into a fighting stance I just snorted lol 😂
Take a shot every time Pat says "I don't like Leftovers"
Your theory about Leftovers taking way too long is the exact reason why I don't use Pokémon with Intimidate as ability. I understand it's a usefull ability, but it takes too long everytime I switch that Pokémon in battle
Duncan use to use the craziest z-moves in draft league. I recall he won a battle by using z rain dance on manaphy
28:04 I click Stealth Rock second. First turn I click U Turn just so I can avoid Knock Off against Stealth Rock Gliscor.

Every pokemon has eviolite, with the occasional choice item
Bro the only reason why I hate Black Sludge is Toxapex. I was doing a self imposed challenge in Pokémon Showdown where I could only use my favorite Pokémon and had to win 5 times in a row. On the 5th battle I ran into a salty kid with only a Toxapex and I believe a Glimmora and that little piece of you know what stalled my team with ONE FRICKING TOXAPEX. Now I hate Toxapex, Black Sludge and Double Layer Tox Spikes almost as much as Miltank (yes I hate Miltank bc of Mikey). For reference my team were competitively built OU & UU BEASTS: - Nebula the Mega Absol - Majora the Ogerpon (Wellspring Mask) - Tantalos the Ceruledge - Kitsune the Hisuian Zoroark - Ridley the Kommo-o - Champ the Hawlucha
23:45 Lockstin did a video on all the berries real world inspirations a while back.
Leftovers takes way too much time... I had a 2v2 where one was holding leftovers and the other (psn type) holding black sludge.

I used to think that choice scarf made you the faster pokemon no matter what the speed stat was so I tried running choice scarf rhyperior as a sweeper but then I got out sped by a life orb greninja and was super confused. This was a long time ago, back when XY first came out and I was still a child
29:37 Patt talking about toxic stall. Me remembering him with the sub toxic Delphox.
1:23 In the 5th Gen pokemon games there was a battle type called Wonder Launcher which allowed you to use items, though balanced by the fact each item had a cost to use. I always thought it was a really cool gimmick and if it was balanced correctly could be a fun way to balance, the only issue being it invaliadates a lot of buff moves by having X-Items and such be in the mode, invaliates most healing moves by having potions and revives be available (albeit for a lot of points), and invalidates status in a lot of cases by how cheap the status recovery items are. But the fact that each of these costs points is really fun, but it would also probably make battles take way too long from stall being too strong.
23:34 I don't know what the berries taste like, but I know Lockstin did a full berry explaination video with their irl counterparts too! So you might wanna react to that too!

Regular Arceus is most popular but Arceus ground and fairy both see a good amount of usage in Ubers currently as well
I remember there was a strat with Walren Leftovers, aqua ring, hail Damage meant nothing unless you can one shot it in gen 5 with the infinite snowstorm with Abomasnow
23:34 berries canonically have their own flavors, and each one raises certain things in the games that have contests!!! Personally, i like sweet flavors the best… but of course, I’m far from cute.😅😓😭 I’m not a Smeargle who’s fond of competitive battling, but at least there’s other things in life worth enjoying instead!
Coolest thing in Pokemon, regardless of my feelings about the games in general, was the AI Professor pokeball drop. Just the casual flex of letting the ball roll off their fingers and drop to the ground instead of throwing it was chilling.
I feel like a lot of the items aren't used much outside of competitive because the game doesn't really attempt to quantify anything, so unless you are going and specifically looking up the exact affect of an item you're likely to think it isn't worth it. As someone who has never done competitive I assumed that there wasn't really any point in using life orb because I'm probably taking as much recoil damage as I am doing extra damage. Or, why lock yourself into a move with a choice item if you're pokemon only has damaging fire moves and you can just use charcoal? But hearing some of the numbers it's like, oh, that sounds really amazing! I should totally use those! (Not that you really need them given that the single player is so much easier than battling competitive, but it would probably also make it easier for people to get into competitive if they already knew about and were used to using some of these items. As it is, the barrier to getting into competitive is so much more intimidating.)
Bad math patters, if you deal 55% then they are at 45%, they heal to 51% and then die to the 55% attack, they don't live another one. Love your videos and reactions!
All GameFreak has to do is let a “Leftovers has been recovered” prompt go off with user’s health bars being recovered based on speed. Easy!
then you got weather extended items. most commonly damp rock and heat rock. imagine if we had the trick room extended items
20:05 why is bro caked up😭
2:00 No idea, but I play stall so it really doesnt matter.
19:43 that is some interesting math you did there.

100 - 55 = 45 + 6 = 51 The second 55% attack will KO

Okay, but I refuse to use moves that do recoil damage for the same reason XD

it would be nice for you to react to Gameboylad video about Pokemon tcg, is a restrospective about the gameboy game and the card game in general, is a very well put together video.
Then we fight with only gems for the items??
Well I don’t play competitive and I’ve rarely ever used left overs so I’d say it’s probably taken a full hour of my life total thru out my whole life one hour TOPS but you right that is too long 😂
Btw, Patterrz doesn’t like Leftovers
So you don't hate leftovers, you hate the slow animations and text.
20:00 math? if you do 55% enemy goes down to 45% leftovers heals 6% and that's 51% another 55% is enough for the KO but i can see why you got confused calcing at 50% and not 55% LOL
