    My first Pokemon Game was RSE so it might be hard to imagine going from what Ruby was to Omega Ruby emotionally, especially since those remakes were actually fantastic. Though to be fair, my second game was Gold from GSC, and I have played every main Pokemon game to exist by now, and even Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness which were wildly fun spinoffs even if a bit tougher blind than even the earlier Pokemon games were. I hope Pokemon continues on for awhile more so your lot can have a game that brings you back to your first games, too. With a bit better listening to quality control and quality assurance to get less bugs and crashes of course. I would rather the games work and be fun instead of one or the other.

    @@ObrigadaJimI‘m pretty sure you‘re pulling this from your ass, Sir. Arceus was NOT available with tweaking for the longest time. Only lately it came to light how to get Arceus, in combination with a completely different glitch that has nothing to do with tweaking, but abuses event triggers on a map with the "retire" glitch. Also the amounts of players who tweaked to get Darkrai and Shaymin are ridiculously miniscule in contrast to the whole player base. I think you overestimate that very very much. Also they distributed Oaks Letter and the Member Card as items in the west, long after tweaking was already known. So they distributed the two items to event Pokémon that could be accessed by tweaking, but didn’t distribute the item to the event Pokémon who definitely wasn‘t obtainable with tweaking alone. And you say this was due to the existence of tweaking?

  • @ObrigadaJim

    @ObrigadaJim

    6 ай бұрын

    The real reason was not that GF though the azure was too complicated, in fact all this cause of something that the Pokémon company will never admit. As you may know, the diamond and pearl Games had very severy Bugs in the code, and one of the most infamous one, letter players to tweek while riding the bike and get the character out of bounds, with that trick they then could travel to every location in the game, including newmoon island, flower paradise and the hall of fame, the three places that contained a static encounter with the mythicals. This meant that a lot of people were catching the 3 mythicals before the release of the events. That was a problem, cause when the event eventually were released officially to promote the movie, the players would go get the code in the store and then play all the story event in the game, to get tk the end and find no mythical to catch since they w o show up a second time. For this reason all the diamond and pearl events were canceled, and in platinum they changed the code a bit so that Shaymin and a Darkrai wouldn't appear in the overworld before the event start, preventing them to be battled outside of theor event, and arceus event wasn't even release cause of this.

    I 100% believe wholeheartedly that Masuda was bullshitting and they didn't include the event either because they were butthurt about it being datamined and recorded online, to create a sense of mystique and exclusivity behind the God Event(TM), or both. You have to admit that Arceus having such a reputation made the eventual reveal of Legends Arceus absolutely mindblowing. There's no way they were thinking that far ahead, but I do think it's likely they kept the Azure Flute unreleased because of something like that.

Coronet, go to the very center of the Flute Tile, and THEN PLAY THE FLUTE KEY ITEM, and only then do you get to fight Arceus. It's so convoluted for such an admittedly underwhelming pokemon that it's a wonder anyone even found out how to access the Hall of Origin after hacking the flute in. Edit: Yeah, admittedly, as convoluted as it was for the time (even the braille while dumb literally gave you instructions), there are evolution methods nowadays that are even MORE of an over-complicated mess. I still want to know how anyone managed to evolve Inkay. Edit: WAIT, THE TRIGGER FOR THE REGI TRIO IS HAVING REGIGIGAS?!?! THAT'S SO STUPID!!

When they realized it was too complex they tried to keep things simple, so when the arceus event required you to go to a place you would never go to ever they decided not to. But as the internet advanced, everthing could be just looked up so there was no point in keeping the games as simple as they were before so they tried to make the game more complex.

    What do you mean a place you could never go to? The place for the flute is where you go for the box art legendaries. The item just makes the staircase.

    With the Azure Flute, it would have been distributed via Mystery Gift. I guess they didn't think people would remember the floor tiles of Spear Pillar that are shaped like a flute, but at the same time, this was during the age of the internet, where people could just look up where they needed to go, just like people looked up exactly what they needed to do to get the Regis.

    I believe the reason the Azure flute was considered "difficult to understand" was because there may not have been any way to directly convey with the item that you had to go back to Spear Pillar and it would activate automatically. Where the other items were tied to pretty obvious things that would lead the player to going to their assigned locations, the Azure flute I think just was a weird flute, and there was no indication of how it was used or where. unlike the Brail puzzles in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, which already had an inherent mystery to the puzzles that compelled players to figure it out. and that it's Brail meant there was pretty easy real world things the player could do to figure it out. And once you knew how to transcribe the brail, it was a fairly easy puzzle to solve. just slightly tedious for actually obtaining the required pokemon to do it. The Flute though, I don't think had any clues or hints or similar to actually go "Hey, take this to Spear Pillar."

    id argue the oaks letter is even more confusing. like. there is a giant ass flute on spear pillar (a big key location in the story) which always confused me as a kid. like i got every single flute in the game to try there and nothing happened. hell the azure flute would be the most straight forward item to me ever. now a random rock on a random side route where u need to go to after getting oaks letter is defenitely not more confusing to get to and figure out

    I 100% believe patterrz made it to Mirage Island. My sister played either gold or heart gold as her first game. She caught a ho oh. It was shiny! She didnt even know what a shiny is, this is a game where the ho oh is generated at the start so if you want to hunt ho oh you have to restart the entire game each time. Crazy odds happen ig

    Agree completely about the catching mechanic being boring and archaic. However can you even imagine how much people would complain if they just made every Pokémon a guaranteed catch? People already moan that the games are "too easy" because of EXP share and infinite TMs, even though these people are just confusing "difficulty" with "time synch".

    I do think people misinterpret what happened to the Azure flute. I don't think they got rid of it because the puzzle attatched would be too complicated - it wouldn't have been. Instead i think they meant the lore. With no further information ever given it would be kind of up in the air about why this random flute called down God.

    My understanding of why they made confusing things like the Regis and mirage island was that they were not intended to be "figured out" and rather was the developers being asked to make events random, rare, but likely to be seen by dedicated players and by doing so creating playground rumors similar to "Mew is under the truck" that are real, but still feel like rumors. Imagine as a kid finding mirage island, telling your friend about it, and then trying to show it to him the next day and it is just gone. I really think these Easter egg type content in early pokemon games, intentional or not, really made the games blow up socially. Everyone had tall tales about what happened in their game and because there was crazy stuff in the games, it felt like it could all be real. And this worked doubly well cause the internet hadn't matured yet so things couldn't be fact checked as easily and instead was just another place for pokemon rumors to fester. All that to say, I don't think the bug catching contest was designed for you to win, but rather it was designed in the hopes that you would hear about someone winning and that would blow your 6 year old mind.

    For the park thing where you catch pokemon and get point based on 'dv's why not just take the stats of the pokemon in points, the higher the dv, the higher the stats will go so that gives more points to higher dv anyway and then the species of pokemon.

    I have the most vivid memory and it's one time I wish I was recording or got an on-switch recording, but, I swear that Drayton's Duraludon was hitting my Flygon from Colosseum with Electro Shot; without Terastalizing my Flygon. It was the initial battle with Drayton & I swear it happened, but, every time I tested it, it wasn't working. I swear that my Flygon wasn't Terastalized, yet no matter what I could not replicate what happened, even getting a friend's help; nothing I did worked. I remember that he DID hit my Flygon with Electro Shot though. However, I have no evidence of Electro Shot hitting my Flygon... No Screenshot; No Video; No Proof. All I have is a vivid memory and it DID happen. I don't know why the image of my Flygon being hit with Electro Shot is so vivid. I don't remember Terastalizing him.

    I have an innate hatred for event pokemon after Sun and Moon... I got the "exclusive" Munchlax from Gamestop, knowing all the dumb and useless event moves that does nothing, and decided to use it on my first team. Cut to very shortly after starting my playthrough, where i go up against an early trainer with a Gastly. The only potential move i have that can damage it is Metronome, but after using all 10 PP (some lost to Spite), it's still alive! At that point, it has used Mean Look, so i can't switch out, and just like i can't kill it, it can't kill me either... So i now have to waste a bunch of PP, until either it or my Munchlax runs out of PP! 20 minutes later, Gastly finally runs out of PP, and my Munchlax wins by doing nearly no damage at all after a 30 minute battle! It's one of the worst experiences with pokemon i have ever had...
