There were cases of parents taking and selling a misbehaving kid's games and consoles a lot, so some gold mine pre-owned games can be from cases like those and not just morbid death cases. Controlling parents also did this when they just didn't like their child trying to be their own person though and they were 'acting out' or 'talking back' or not doing all of their chores a couple times.

My thought on the cartridge that had so many hours and all those cool pokémon... Was that while the owner may not want to get rid of it, angry overbearing parents totally would to 'punish' their kid. A story I fear may be the more common one.

Yeah I was assuming parents as well; my mother tried it once I hit age 12 because it was "time to grow up" but luckily my younger brother was just getting into Pokemon so he convinced her to give him the games and then he gave them back to me with the excuse of "we'll play together so she'll be happy we're getting along." Nicest thing he's ever done for me. We couldn't save any of the other Pokemon merch or soft toys sadly. Although it's now entertaining to send pictures of merch I had to my mother and be like "hey I used to have this and now it's worth £60 so thanks for throwing it away haha lol"

I don’t blame Scott. That Purugly stonewalled me for years. I ended up playing games for the next three gens before picking up Platinum again.

13:12 so yeah remember how in XY / ORAS there was a way to get a perfect angle for hatching eggs just by holding one direction? XY's specifically being around Lumiose Tower? Well a popular thing at the time was to put a coin just under the lip of the circle pad, to make it go in a constant loop so that you could do things whilst hatching. Turns out that after a while of that with the coin pushing it, the circle pad would burst off. Possibly what happened Source; personal experience

@@gengargamer5657Reasonably speaking for most people if you don’t already have the game you probably don’t have the system either at this point (for more popular games anyway, if it’s a niche game fair enough), and also some people are against it but emulation is right there and frankly far easier. Better than gambling potentially 100 dollars on a random old cartridge anyway.

That's because they are RARE. Everything rare will have it's price go up. Who can get a Pokemon Pearl in the year 2024?

2:41 GameStop usually gave you about half of what they expect to sell the game for and for certain games they would basically give you the full value of the game sometimes depending on how rare it was.

@@Gohka They probably weren’t that price until the 3DS was discontinued. Pokémon games rarely changed in price, always around $40, so the trader would usually get about $20. The price has skyrocketed because of how rare they are now.

I have 1000 hours in X, Moon, Ultra Moon, Sword, and Violet. Not in total, in EACH game.

@@Gohka Sometimes I would leave the games on when I'm doing something else, or I would just do random stuff in the games like battle wild Pokémon just to see my Pokémon's attack animations or beat the League over and over again to get max money. It also took me a while to complete the Pokédex since I don't have friends to trade with. Moon, Ultra Moon, and Violet have 1000 hours because I shiny hunted in them.

Yeah Patterrz, Pokemon games can get crazy expensive for the depending on either the game or console it’s played on. I bought Pokémon Pearl for my DS lite, and it was 70 dollars for the game that came with a fairly good condition box with all the inserts like the game booklet. Which is a really good deal, especially when I bought Pokémon Black(just the cartridge) for 80-90 bucks, then Sapphire for about 60ish. My most expensive game was FireRed, just the cartridge for 100 dollars. I’m pretty sure there’s still a Pokémon Platinum with everything for 120 at my local retro game store. But it is interesting seeing the old save files of the previous owners. Some stopped playing early on, other midway, then there are those who beat the game with Legendaries in their party when they sold the game.

Yes you totally can rip off the circle pad on a 3ds fully. I was given a used 3ds but managed to get a new circle pad and fixed it and it was a pretty easy repair. But I loved this video! So interesting to see the save files!

The circle pad on my 3ds came off to, it's just due to lots of use.

I bought a used Alpha Sapphire, HeartGold, Ultra Sun and Leaf Green. The AS and HG had little pokemon, but the other two had tons that I have added to my collection.

One time I bought a used copy of Pokémon Sun, and the GameStop employee was really chill, he said there was already a file on it, and how not many people knew how to delete it, so he told me it was up on the d-pad and x and b

I think I’ve only ever sold one of my Pokémon games so far, that being Moon soon after Ultra Moon came out. Though I do think I picked it clean since I’ve still got my team from it in Ultra Moon sitting in a box

Patterz, youre the first content creator ive seen that actually says you can claim stuff for business on taxes. Everyone else pretends like you cant do this lol. You can also claim gas etc etc for normal jobs if you keep all reciepts AND if military you can claim uniforms, haircuts etc.

i am trying to get pokemon games wish me luck ya i starting from the easy games the switch from 3ds first before they get turned out too the ds version . generation 1 -5 i did my homework on too tell what is legit gen 3 is easy ruby and shappaire and emerald just look for the 4 gold squares on the back but gen 4 shino is hard too tell and gold and silver remakes on ds are easy if there see through with a red color i am good and black cartages and same with generation 5 are easy too tell but gen 4 is hard gen 1 and 2 are easy look for stamp numbers

There's a ton of random pause during battle and I think the game comes to a screeching halt in Eterna Forest with the super slow partner battles where a lot of turns there's stat changes for everyone on the battle field.
