The specific number of mail isn't important. You technically only need 64 mail to dupe the rare candy up to 65, but 81 get bought because it's faster to just use one button to buy the max amount you can afford instead of wasting seconds scrolling up to 64.

@@Mustache99 There was no time? It was simple math. Tentacool is level 35, so you need 65 Rare Candy to get it to 100. That's it, that's the number. No trial and error, no needing to look at the code for that value.

​​​@@Mustache99I'd imagine it took about 1 second to find out the exact number. And you can find out the exact number too, with this simple question: What is faster? Pressing up on the D-Pad 69 times, or pressing down on the D-Pad 1 time? However long it takes you to answer that is how long it took to find the "exact number"

I never sent mail but I would give a mail like “you do great” or something and just give one to each of the Pokémon in my party like their own notes of encouragement.

A level 58 Metagross is getttng leveled by a level 100 Tentacruel STAB surf, crit or not.

Ok but this glitch is SO specific though.who is insane enough to buy all that mail??

The amount of mail isn't the important part; You need 4 mail to start the glitch, 65 to turn into Rare Candies, and 1 to corrupt the Slateport tiles. The only reason you buy 81 is it's faster to press down once, buying the maximum amount you can afford, then it is to scroll up to 70

"Programming is an enigma" You have no idea, TF2 has a picture of a potato that isn't used anywhere in the game, but if they delete the picture the game just don't work at all.

4:40 no glitches in my playthroughs, but I do run with 4 Ziggys in my party almost always before 4th badge... so by the time I reach abras at badge 2 I already have like 20 ultra balls... when I leave, I have no ultra balls but like 10 abra

Do you realise the potential of mail in this age of wonder trading? If that was added back it would be used more than ever

@@DanielPereira-ey9nt well you can’t write swear words with mail, it’s all preset phrases, and they had a similar thing for wonder trades in Sun and Moon where you could add your own greeting

It's actually pretty easy to pick up really good items in Ruby/Sapphire. They changed it in Emerald + Fire Red/Leaf Green to be based on the Zigzagoons level, but in RS it's just a base percentage. Get 5 of them, and you can get 10 rare candies every hour, easily. Not to mention nuggets, proteins, and ultra balls. It's fairly useful if you're on emulator and can use speedup.

I will never understand how people find these things in older video games. Most of this stuff [like the pomeg exploit] was originally found in like the mid 2000s. How? The odds of doing that on your own, just playing the game normally, are so minuscule. It blows my mind. Props to them though.
