I had seen the videos by The Stitchery about the split side projects, Shannon Make's take on the Coquelicot skirt and The Closet Historian's adaptation of the Walkaway Dress - I mixed them up and made my own. Like The Stitchery's dresses I put it over my head, knot the front apron in the back and the back in the front. I just took my favourite dress pattern (princess line), left the front and back centre seams open. I cut an extra deep v down to the waist for the back and added ties on bra- and hip height. I cut away the chest on the outer front (the one that comes from the back piece) like in the pictures of the Walkaway Dress and added ties on waist height. I had to take out small darts on the level of these ties to keep the front from sagging, otherwise the prototype already turned out great!

Great roundup! I'd also recommend checking out the Isla Wrap Dress by Jennifer Lauren Handmade. It looks like a classic round necked, fitted bodice dress from the front, but the wrap crosses over the back and ties at the front. It's higher necked, comes in different bust cup sizes, and has a great size range.

Oh nice, it's a good idea to move the wrap to the back!

This was standard practice until about the 1830s. Then mass production started and the manufacturers realised they could sell more clothes by not making them adjustable.

The Ann Tilley magic pants also have elastic attached to the side straps, they are just hidden by the front and back flaps so it looks like there isn’t any elastic :)

Awesome video and topic! 😍 Subscribed! I loved your comment about weightlifting and how it results in some challenges with the way clothes fit (especially in ready-to-wear clothing!)….I am also a weightlifter, and I 100% relate to these challenges, so I am very happy to hear from another woman who does as well!! It’s actually one of the reasons why I learned to sew! I’m not sacrificing my strength and health just to fit into RTW tiny armholes or tiny pant legs! 💪 🏋️‍♀️

@@LaFraiseSews Yesss…my shoulders are already wide from my bone structure, and adding muscle has truly made it feel like I am going to bust out of some clothing when I bring my arms forward or my shoulder blades extend! 😂 We are just too powerful for most regular fitting clothes anymore…They simply cannot handle us!!! 💪😂 And thank you; I am happy to be here! 🤗

Appreciate these pattern ideas! The Kielo dress is currently on my list to make! I've also made La Lupita dress which is an pinafore/wrap/adjustable dress and I really love it. Helens closet has a hack for a similar style for her March dress. I've also seen a lot about the Sasha Starlight Palazzo pants but I'm nervous to try them!

Just a heads up for anyone wanting the Creston jeans/pants concept without the membership, they have a video saying that they took the fluctuating waistband from the Miriam trousers, which is a pattern they have for sale. Just different fabrics I think.

In my trousers I always put in a elastic with ties on each end, that way it will stretch when I sit down and I can regulate how tight I want it on this day.
