Pattern Magic Bamboo Shirt - Making Of

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Thank you for watching my attempt at the Bamboo Shirt pattern from the book Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi. I go through the process that involves draping on the form. I haven't ever tried making a pattern quite like this before but I learned a lot along the way. Comment down below with a unique garment you think I should try making next!

    Great, it's the first time I see someone wearing a bamboo shirt. I see pattern tutorials, photos on sewing mannequin, but never one a real person. I was starting wandering if it was a functional clothe of just an esthetic creation. Good job

    Wow! I was so amazed watching similar origami sewing projects on the Sewing Bee one year. It was nice to see how you worked through the steps of it. Thanks.

    I think it’s really great especially considering that it’s the first time you’ve tried this type of project! I wonder if part of the difference is that you have a larger bust than for the original shirt in the book. Well done!

    I'm actually trying to use that bamboo shoot pattern on where a side seam would usually be! It's very tricky so far, but fingers crossed that it'll work >

    Your top is more structural and the one form the book is softer looking. I just don't understand how the book one holds together like that! It looks like it was glued together.

    Thank you for this video!! I love you work!! And I think that a satin fabric in comparison with a cotton wil move a bit faster at the darts. So that may be the reason why you had to stitch is a bit more. But I think your project looks very professional.

    I LOVE this pattern. I've seen it on Pinterest. I'm obsessed with dart manipulation, assymetrical designs and Japanese pattern drafting. Thanks for sharing what specific book this pattern is from. I have a feeling this pattern looks best on medium or smaller busts - definitely not larger busts?

    Hello Foley! Thank you for sharing this, well done! I have the same book and have been trying to make the draped design on page 62. I find some steps missing in the explanation and find it hard to make. Have you tried it? Thanks!

    After doing my own I realized your mistake, you only tack the crossing points of the folds not the fold itself

  • @FoleyDressed

    @FoleyDressed

    I would love to see yours! I only tacked down the folds because this fabric didn't hold a press very well and they kept opening in an unflattering way. I would definitely use a different fabric in the future!

  • @pepollli
    @pepollli2 жыл бұрын

    Yes you did fold too much fabric. That’s why your darts are much higher and extend above the fullest part of the bust. I also think that the fabric you used is far too light for the cut. Heavier weight material would have achieved better origami effect. Good attempt though! Well done.
