I feel like there’s this feeling you get that you only experience when you listen to certain songs. Your heart starts trembling ever so slightly, you feel tears welling up behind your eyes, your breathing gets just a little slower, and your emotions are so twisted. You’re a combination of inspired, depressed, hopeful, solemn, and calm. This song does it.

I am so much agreeing with your comment, modern popular music has been degraded to a state that the younger generations have nothing to compare it to, and it definitely IS by design. There is nothing 'organic' about Lady Gaga, et al, nothing at all.

this song has done more to help me process the loss of my daughter than any traditional therapy has. it so perfectly reflects my grief. “sometimes you got to just” said almost like a whisper and incomplete - because it’s up to us to live what that is. sometimes i got to just let the grief consume me, sometimes i got to just put one foot in front of the other, sometimes i got to just live and hope and rise again.

This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I was so lucky to see and hear Patrick Watson two nights in a row last December; and both nights, standing in front of the stage listening, I was in tears during this piece, which cuts right to the heart. Anyone who has ever experienced intense sadness, for whatever reason, at some point during their life, will be affected by the tremendous emotion of this song... I have been enthralled by each and every piece of Patrick Watson’s since he started out. There is truly no other musician remotely like him on earth. This song, along with others on this latest compilation...well, it’s some of the most beautiful and mesmerizing music ever written. May we have the joy of listening to Patrick Watson for decades and decades to come, please! For those who love Montreal, like I do, the video, too, is exquisite! Montreal is beautiful, and the little dance Patrick Watson does towards the end of the video, well what can I say? It makes me smile (through my damp eyes). : ) Patrick Watson, thank you so, so, so much for making our lives better, every single day, through your music. I hope you realize how important you are, to so many people, and how your writing and singing have even changed our lives. This is heartfelt.

You read my mind. When this came out, strangely here in Australia we were having those devastating fires. I lived in a very English green oasis, but to the north and south the fires were raging. There was smoke in every breath for weeks. We were devastated for the loss of wildlife and this mesmerising, exquisite song just expressed so much of how we were feeling, ironically about a river, flooding. My heart flooded with tears for months. And yet the hope is that it will pass, and it did.☺️

Always reminds me of huricaines in Puerto Rico. Such a disaster here...yet people are calmed and have faith, although holding on to their TV's...this songs transmists that feeling when the heavy winds and rain don't stop for several and I mean several hours...and the outside it's floded, rivers out of control and rooftops on the ground...yet, you try to find peace, and this is it.

I met them in my university and we were together for more than 10 years now. We would go out every week, drink and laugh. Had so much fun. I know I would never find such kind of friends in my life and I miss them so so so much and words cant express the loneliness Im feeling. I love how this song can be interpreted in so many different ways. For example, it could be talking about a real flood where people evacuate their houses but it could also be talking about a flood of tears, when things get too much and you find yourself not being able to stop crying. As well though, it could mean a metaphorical flood, as if you are drowning in all of your problems and hanging on to the last bit of hope ‘Mary kept sowing, holding on to her TV, even though the water was rising past her knees’. Beautiful song ❤️ Well done Patrick.

What a beautiful man. The last time I heard Patrick was during his Close to Paradise tour ten years ago. By the sounds of it, he's now found it. "You're losing control; there ain't any words in this world that's going to cure this pain, sometimes its going to fall down on your shoulders, but you're going stand through it all...but you can't keep you're head above these troubled waters - here comes the river over the flames" The world seems to have lost this measure of grace, humility and above all joy. So wonderful to hear a song that acknowledges that freedom and joy is found in accepting the world as it comes at us - not in the arrogance of so-called self-empowerment. A song, as best i can tell, about baptism in the spirit. 3:48 says it all.

Congrats. I've just added this song to maybe only 10 others that can reduce me to a puddle. I played this for my wife to make sure it wasn't just me and she was crying like a baby, "This is the best song I've heard all year." Gorgeous.

Some people are musicians, but Patrick is something else that is quite simply ineffable, he is clearly tapped into something far beyond the cosmos, and I thank God everyday he is, because his music fills me with something that I simply cannot explain in words, but when it happens, it is an absolutely beautiful thing ✨💖✨

I completely get it...I get this whole album. I had my heart torn from my chest over a year ago and it still feels the same...like it was yesterday. Just a few weeks ago, I lost my mom to alcohol...I know exactly from what place of grief he wrote these songs.

Also here after watching The World Beyond. It's so rare to have a song and a scene feel like they were meant for one another. It's only the second time I've felt compelled to search for the name of a song after watching a t.v. show (the first was "Do You Feel It?" - Rick & Morty). Well done. It's a great song on its own.
