re igor, i dont think hes gonna end up with as much as the rumored numbers are. also i think its dangerous to use edm as a proof that you can do with a skinner in goal when edm has 2 top 5 centers and nyr barely have a top line center.

Loving what i’m hearing

The Rangers should consider acquiring those who best fit Laviolette's system and not those in the twilight of their careers, IMHO.

Just because King Henry didn't win a cup, doesn't mean you suddenly give up on a generational goalie. That fact we have them back to back is a gift. If you had to choose between Laffy and IGOR, you choose IGOR. Laffy had a great year, no guarantee he'll do it again. IGOR already tested.

@@RangersCentral I would only agree if we had certifiable performance where laffy gave us 30+/60 for some years. Don't forget that Laffy is not going to ask for a budget, you might find a circumstance where he will be asking for the house and suddenly the price between IGOR/Laffy is marginal. He's not proven enough yet. He had a great playoff, but I've seen young players since 1988 with promising performances fall flat. I just think its too early with Laffy. I wish the Rangers could make a deal now on the cheap to mediate the risk. You could also make the argument, that Laffy would be a trade worthy player whiles he's hot on the grill. Dorr swings both ways.

in terms of pure trade value rfa's carry a lot more signed. hence buch got a garbage return back.

The NYR cannot afford to lose Igor because, as it stands, their D-corps does NOT know how to play a shred of defense. Observe how Kris Knoblauch has the Oilers making Skinner look like a Vezina award winning goaltender. Meanwhile, Laviolette is absolutely CLUELESS. Therefore, losing Igor at this time would be a total disaster for this team.

@@RangersCentral No... What I meant was that you only decide to lose Igor if you truly commit to building a D-corps that can actually play DEFENSE. Fox-Lindgren, Miller-Schneids, and Troubs-Gus cannot withstand a playoff grind. Overall, they were pathetic. Igor was constantly left by himself. Therefore, you have to choose: (1) Keep your garbage defense and sign Igor or (2) Lose Igor and commit to building a solid D-corps. How will Drury proceed? As it stands now, the NYR cannot afford to lose Igor.

They need guys on ELC's at some point and it opens up cap to spend on FA's so it would improve the team both for the now and the future it really isn't stupid

@@RangersCentral if the rangers were known for developing talent then maybe it wouldn’t be stupid however this organization doesn’t have the best track record on development. This team is close and taking a player who is nhl ready and trading him to move up to only a top 15 pick is just not a smart move for this team right now. I doubt the GM is going to do it. This team has been smart so far in the last 15 months I doubt they’ll make a step backward now. If you’re talking about a pick 5-9 then maybe but not 10+ to much of a gamble. I know it’s in Vegas but no thank you 😂 Ps. I have never in my life heard a team looking to win a cup now ever worry about not having enough ELC’s, you know what team has almost no players that came up from there ELC’s? the panthers, look how that worked out for them. Barkov may be like our laffy either way you need the free agency to hit 🤷
