Patrick Deneen: Forbidden Knowledge: Technology, the Liberal Arts, and the Future of Humanity

About the lecture
Humanity both relies upon, and is threatened by the technologies it continuously develops. This threat appears today to be especially pronounced, given developments not only in AI, automation, and nanotechnology, but due to the accumulated consequences of earlier technologies on human and natural ecologies.
In this lecture, Patrick Deneen will explore the question of whether one of humanity’s oldest “technologies” - the liberal arts - have anything new to teach and even guide us as we enter a new and potential imperiling era of technological development.
