Lol insulting something is not destroying it. I love Patrice, but I think people need to stop talking as if every time someone said something they agree with, it's irrefutable. Many movie experts worship Hitchcock, it's not a "myth". And Patrice later revealed that he was trolling and that he liked Hitchcock, so even he doesn't really buy what he's saying. Generations of filmmakers "destroyed with ease" by a couple of jokes lol you can have an opinion without having your head that deep up your ass.

Ngl I always loved this clip and found it hilarious but I actually have been getting into Hitchcock movies for the past few months and honestly in my opinion so far Patrice was not far off at all. Psycho was fantastic to me I really enjoyed it but everything else I watched so far has just been OK. I’ve seen about 5 or 6 Hitchcock films now, a few of them were more of his earlier films from the 1930s and 1940s and they just weren’t all that great in my opinion. The last one I just watched was The Birds because I wanted to watch his more famous films and still not all that great in my opinion. I’m still planning on watching films like Rear Window, Vertigo, North By Northwest etc but so far I only loved Psycho.

It's interesting to see white rhetoric vs black at work. As patrice explains his position, I immediately get it like we resonate on a spiritual level He even touches on "well I didn't want to get into the philosophical" which I totally get when communicating with people. Sometimes you feel like the vibe is enough that people ought to use their own ciritical thinking and you won't have to break it all down for them I think there's an emotional reason why white people latch onto things and they feel that others should maintain the same stance. But as a black person, there's a lot of nonsense things you all put out and call significant which we look at and go "and?" Sorry to be so reductive, but its like asking your pet to care about something not in their wheelhouse. Something that goes bump in the night, your dog is on it. Trying to teach it new tricks, they go limp We look at impressionist art and underneath we go, how does this help with all my sporadic problems? But outwardly, a fine piece of work there, boss

The Birds holds up well as a horror flight but other are just god-fully awful. I saw Rear Window my God was that cornball and the way it was filed in that studio that was supposed to be the back of people apartments was dreadful. Did that not see how horrible that looked. I know TV series do that but not movies these days but back then my God it looked so bad it was comical. Also Grace Kelly was like 25 years younger then James Stewart it looked like. I also saw North by Northwest and the first half is corny but gets better by the end.

He's got a point though. Hitchcock was just full of himself and made shitty movies because of it. Like when he spoke about placing a bomb on a train and having you know about it ahead of time. He was so cocky, that he didn't bother spoiling the plot for his audience, thinking he would end up with a masterpiece anyway. That profile shit he did was the sign of an arrogant bastard. Psycho was a boring ass movie that took forever to get to the point. Rear Window was okay, but I still think he should've edited it down some. He was George Lucas before his time, not knowing what to keep or edit in his movies.
