This was basically a joke from the Country Music Awards on CMT. Taylor has a very long running habit of making fun of herself for not being “cool” so she did this at the height of the “Country Taylor” era with T-Pain who is absolutely hilarious and loves to troll. I believe it was in response to critics who didn’t like Taylor blending pop elements into country at the time.

"You don't wanna fight me, in my extra small white tee." Always gets me extra giggly. This will always be priceless and hilarious.

Her SNL Monologue Song is also hysterical, and she wrote it all by herself.

There’s an interview with Seth Meyers, who was the head writer on SNL at the time, out there on video about how she came into his office to run The Monologue Song by him and Lorne Michaels and it was so perfect and a 1000 times better than anything they started writing for her, he was embarrassed! He said it’s never happened before or since that they’ve received such a gift, but whatever they were creating for Taylor was dreadful by comparison!

@leaanndye3109 I saw that interview. I'm a fairly new "swiftie", I'm a football fan and even though Chicago is my team (🫣)...I lve been a Kelce fan for a long time for many reasons 😉. With that said, I became curious about Taylors music and went down the rabbit hole pretty fast. For a while I was under the impression that her Reputation era is when her "savage" (I say that in a good way) side came out...I was definitely wrong. I then found "Mean", which is amazing, but the SNL "Monologue Song" 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Don't mess with Taylor!! 😆😆

A couple of guys from Hot Chelle Rae (one related to Chord Overstreet from Glee) helped with parody (time constraints). They also opened on her tour.

She was 20 and just adorable. I love how she never took herself so seriously that she couldn’t have fun. And she didn’t let the stuffy conservative nature of country music dictate how she should act. She’s always just been Taylor, mega-talented singer turned rapper with a heart of gold.

This is why Taylor and Travis are so good together. They’re both hilarious.

If you get a chance, watch the beginning of the sketch where Taylor informs her manager that she wants to star in a rap video and he tries to say no but she says, “BUT IT’S MY DREAM.” The whole video kind of pokes fun at how “all Taylor’s dreams come true”, even the ones that shouldn’t.

Taylor has always been happy to make fun of herself. Her sense of humour seems a big part of who she is and that is a very positive down to earth attribute to have. Love it!

CMT has us clowning..She knew what she was doing, so did T-Pain. Love T-Pain. He’s from my town.

She's her own genre: if it sounds good, it _is_ good ! is pretty much her philosophy of music. Too many acronyms! got curious and looked up the different awards givers. Thug Story is part of a promo skit (she kept repeating, "It's My Dream" -- rap, Star Trek, NFL, hosting the show) for the 2009 CMT awards: she won the Best Video and Best Female Video for Love Story. She wasn't ignored by the other Country Music award givers. I didn't look up MTv, though; there's always more. 😍 The ACM awards list Taylor as New Female Artist of the Year in 2008; and gave her the Album of the Year for Fearless in 2009. She won the top award of Entertainer of the Year two years in a row (2011 (Speak Now) , 2012 (Red? Speak Now tour? didn't say) The main list didn't include videos, and their list doesn't mention her ever getting Song of the Year. CMA's are similar; New Artist of the Year in 2007; Entertainer of the Year, Best Female Vocalist, and Album of the Year (Fearless) in 2009, Entertainer of the Year in 2011, and (finally!) Song of the Year in 2017 for Better Man. I thought it odd that Babe didn't win anything, so I looked: nominated, but didn't win anywhere.

I believe this was around 2008-2009 ish This was the intro to the CMT awards it was a whole skit with Taylor and another guy (a country singer I guess) and the skit was called "My Dream" or something. in which the guy asks Taylor what is next now that she seems to have taken country music by storm and it didn't seem to be stopping any time soon. so she starts telling him of all these other "cool" things that she would like to be a part of or do like: "be in the new Star Trek movie" (even though the movie had already come out), and so they proceed to show a scene from the movie with Taylor edited in it. funny enough she also mentions that she *would like to be a football player in the NFL* and they proceed to show her getting pumped up before a game with a famous player at the time after that guy criticizes her for not being tough enough because she was so skinny and NOT scary at all, she proceeds to say that she "would love to be a rap singer" and that is were we get to THIS gem.

This is actually just a snippet from the cold open of the 2009 CMT awards. Bill Engvall, the host that year, opened the show with a skit talking to Taylor about her dreams coming true. There’s also a part about joining the Star Trek crew and playing football. Even if you don’t react to the whole thing on your amazing channel, you should watch it. It’s hilarious.

There are a couple different country music awards groups ; ACM (Academy of Country Music); CMA (Country Music Association); CMT (Country Music Television -- for music videos). I believe this skit (it is only part of the promo -- there was also a Star Trek spoof, and a bit with Kelly Pickler and the host of the awards. . . oh, and an NFL bit about Tay joining the NFL. . . . she looks good in football clothes, lol. I think Paine got involved because he was a presenter at the award show, and they were hoping for a bigger audience. while looking for some stuff, I ran into Wikipedia's list of major award winners (from CMT) over the years: Taylor first appeared as "Breakthrough Artist" in 2007 with "Tim McGraw" (Taylor Swift debut) ; Video of the Year (And best female video) in 2008 for "Our Song" (debut again) ; earned both awards _again_ in 2009 for "Love Story" (Fearless album; so probably the genesis of this Thug Story parody); Video of the Year again in 2011 for "Mine" (Speak Now album) but didn't get a mention for Red album (2012) videos, and stopped making country albums. I suspect the reason Red didn't get country video awards probably was the videos were Max Martin/Johan Shellback co -writes, and pretty pop. 22, I Knew You Were Trouble, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. abbrev.s IKYWT, and WANEGBT .
