The 12141/42 Mumbai LTT -Patliputra Express is a daily express train service of the Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. It runs between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai, Maharashtra and Patliputra Junction in Patna, Bihar.
This train was started in 1997 to facilitate the transportation of passengers from Mumbai to Patna. When it began, the train ran only on Tuesdays, and only from LTT to PNBE. When the Rajendranagar Terminal was inaugurated in 2003, service was extended from PNBE to RJPB. In 2009, the train line was again extended from LTT TO CSTM, therefore running from CSTM TO RJPB. Now this train is running between LTT to PPTA and it is known as LTT-Patliputra Express.
This train has 22 LHB coach consisting of ONE AC First CUM AC 2 TIER, ONE 2 AC TIER, EIGHT 3 AC TIER, ONE PANTRY CAR, THREE NON RESERVED SECOND CLASS, SIX SLEEPER CLASS, and ONE Generator cum luggage van.
Now this runs on electric traction from Mumbai LTT to Patliputra Jn. It is hauled by WAP 7 locomotive from Ajni shed or Kalyan Shed.
This train halts at 12 main stations, namely: Thane, Kalyan, Nasik, Manmad, Bhusawal, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Mughalsarai, Zamania, Buxar, and Ara. This train halts at Kasara , Igatpuri, Itarsi, and katni because of technical and pantry reasons.
Patliputra Junction, Station code (PPTA), is a railway station in the Rukanpura area in the West End of Patna, Bihar. The station, which is governed by East Central Railway and managed by Danapur railway division, lies on the Patna-Sonepur-Hajipur section. Located 12 kilometres north-west of Patna Junction, it has primarily been developed to ease pressure on the city's other two railway stations, through which roughly 350 trains pass daily. It is located near Bailey Road, an important western thoroughfare in Patna. Patliputra junction has become the fourth terminal of the Danapur railway division after Patna Junction, Danapur station and Rajendranagar Terminal.
The Patliputra Junction railway station was built in 2013. The railway station is a part of Digha-Sonpur rail-road bridge between Digha and Sonepur which was completed by the end of 2015. This station was built an alternate to Patna Junction, Danapur station and Rajendranagar Terminal to decongest excess load on these stations.
The major facilities available are waiting rooms, computerised reservation facility, reservation counter, vehicle parking etc. There are refreshment rooms vegetarian and non vegetarian, tea stall, book stall, post and telegraphic office and government railway police office. Patliputra Junction is located close to the domestic airport providing transport to important destinations to all over India.
Automatic ticket vending machines have been installed to reduce the queue for train tickets on the station.
Patna lies in between New Delhi and Kolkata, one of the busiest rail routes in India. The city is a major railway hub and has six major stations: Patliputra Junction, Patna Junction, Danapur, Rajendranagar Terminal, Gulzarbagh, and Patna Sahib. In January 2016, the construction of India's longest road-cum-rail bridge, the Digha-Sonpur rail-road bridge, was completed on the banks of the Ganga nearby and connect Patna to Bharpura Pahleja Ghat (Sonpur).[12] The bridge is 4.55 kilometres (2.83 mi) long and therefore, the longest road-cum-rail bridge in India as well as one of the longest in the world.
Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (also known by its former name Kurla Terminus, station code: LTT) is a railhead and a major railway terminus in the Kurla suburb of Mumbai, India. LTT is managed by the Central Railway. The Kurla and Tilak Nagar suburban railway stations are located nearby. It is one of the five railway terminals within Mumbai, the others being Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar on the Central line, and Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus on the Western line.
LTT is located in the middle of two suburban railway stations, Tilak Nagar and Kurla, on the Harbour line. It is easily accessible through Tilak Nagar as a direct overhead bridge is made to LTT from Tilak Nagar. A share rickshaw service is available from Kurla to LTT via level crossing. The average opening of the level crossing gate is 20 minutes.
Air-conditioned dormitories were inaugurated at LTT on 16 April 2013 by then Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal. The dorm at LTT is a 24-bed AC dorm exclusively for women.
