Can't wait for the sticker that says. " whoa Josh that's not the shifter"
On a runner I like it simple. On an exhibition vehicle, like a wrecker - load it up with extra pickles.
The Chief content we didn't know we wanted, but all needed at the end.
I want a 15 channel radio, I want to control every light on its own. I want blinkers, that are controller from a switch not channel 1. I want hands free trailer hook ups. All the buttons. All the functions!

Good news, Flysky has an 18 channel radio.

How about a 32 channel radio? Radiomaster MT12.
Keeping things simple. But essential. DIG is such a handy function. 4WS looks very appealing but not sure if my brain can handle paired with DIg.

It takes the right remote AND a bunch o drive time with it. It’s the exact same as when you first got an rc and had to learn how to control it when coming back at you. You didn’t take lessons, your brain just self learned easy from all the use doing that.
The cat interaction at the end was my fav part of the video lol
That ending is priceless.
I have rigs with lots of features (Dig, OD, multiple light controllers) and rigs that are very simple. I like them all, just depends on what I'll be driving on. Thanks for the SNU.
LOVE Bengals! What an absolutely stunning creature! Appreciate the ending, I would be have to wait as well. Such star power!
This question is hard... Because where I live is tropical Forest and my trials are mostly wet and muddy or in the river waterproof is a must for me. I generally don't like to many buttons but I like some that I like😂. I like long proper scale type trail drives, typical 5 or 6 km per drive and around 5 hours of time on the trail...so brushed with unlocking diffs and two speed (there is a few longer sections that running at a brisk jog is nice) without overdrive and winch is my normal go to. But.... My one 6th scale Willys is brushless with dig, and winch, and Iove that too. For a big trail rig it needs the grunt everywhere and efficiency that brushless brings. My other 6th scale Willys has a 3 speed gearbox and two winches (front and rear. Needs it for the terrain if I'm playing properly😊) with all the scale goodness operated from the remote I also have a simple MST with short wheel base and only two channels that I love driving. Really depends on how I feel about the trails on a given day
My rc crawlers, I keep simple. My full size YJ crawler, has full time lockers, low gearing , 2 low, and front dig, and rust.
From what I understand, I’m an outlier (I don’t know for sure since I have precisely zero tiny wheelin’ buddies to compare against). I’m in the as-simple-as-possible-but-give-me-lockable-diffs camp. I don’t need a ton of features, but at the same time I derive the most enjoyment from driving my tiny trucks just as I would drive my 1:1. Can’t make it in 2 wheel drive? Shift to 4. Can’t make it with open diffs? Hit the locker or lockers as needed. Thus, I love it when I can have a tiny truck with lockable diffs, an option to run in 2 wheel drive, etc. It just makes the experience so much more realistic and enjoyable for me.

I'm with you. I wish my SCX6 had all the features of the Rlaarlo MK7. Even the lights, all except the indicators.

@@boduke9428 Precisely! I wish exactly the same things for my SCX6.
Thanks for the vid. To answer your question, I prefer simple! Also, your pets will steal the show every time! Mine did it right at the beginning of my latest vid👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾
Both. Love my simple Axial Pro and love my TRX4 with all the bell-and-whistles including a winch.
Have some super simple and very feature-rich rigs. All are fun in their own way
It's different for every vehicle. Sometimes the extras are cool or sometimes I take them off and thrown them in the hoarder rc parts box to be used to create frankenRC at a later date. As always thanks for posting!
I am definitely a fan of a two speed transmission, and remote locking diffs.
Simple. 1. Keep your expenditure down; the money is needed elsewhere. 2. Learn to be satisfied with climbing over the 4" ledges your affordable truck can do, rather than spending hundreds more to get over that 5" ledge. (there's always a bigger ledge, and folks willing to take even more of your money)
Glad I stayed till the very end!
That map page is wikid cool 👍thanks
I've dabbled in all the crawler features, the only one I like is dig.
More kitten time! Or a lit shelf behind you! Be a better Cat dad! Get him a churu!!!😂
All I need is Go, stop, Steer and dig and a seat for the cat.
KISS! Mainly bc others want to play around with our toys, don't need to confuse them and discourage them away from joining the fun....
I like all the Bells & Whistles. I have been really enjoying learning to use the dig function, and my VS4-10 4WS GroundFox VRD-twin has become my favorite rig to take out on the rocks, but there is also something to be said for the simplicity of the VRD Carbon and the challenge of not having the rear steer to get over obstacles, and Dig to cheat those tight turns. I like to take the two out together and I will run the same lines to see just what difference having the extra options creates.
The selectable lockers is what got me into RC crawling/trailing, that and 2-speeds give you a lot more to play around with... it seemed too slow and boring back in the early 2010s until the TRX-4 was released and I had to get into it, before that my Clod Buster was my trail rig. I'd even like to see more selectable "transfer cases" to remotely switch from 2wd to 4x4
Fossil wrist watches -personally idk I like the rear axle to unlock the most and use it as a light dig function jamming the tire into the body on sharp turns or helps from Flipping back in slow steep climbs. I like the 2spd in my trx6 hauler but that’s about it it’s appropriate IMO. I recently installed a 1.5” light bar on the front bumper and rock lights both with light controllers on separate circuits. And absolutely enjoy turning them on and off. My 4ws Capra that’s only way I want it two steer axles and dig. But my dig I flipped the coged shaft so it works as neutral. Have enough portal front box OD. I prefer the neutral aspect of it.
A minute of kitty time is time well spent if you ask me! Meow!
Dig is a nicety for me, but I have a new appreciation for,it after watching y’all’s CO trip. 4WS is a must along with the ability to swap mode. Anything beyond that is outside of my grasp because I will forget 😂🤣😂
In a land RC I want very few controls to deal with. In an airplane, ALL THE BUTTONS! 🤣
I agree: two speed or locking diff is not necessary. I don't have a budget for digs and things like that but I like to be able to turn on the lights remotely
Front steer and 20-30% overdrive that’s it with a good brushless setup
Got my Optic ordered can’t wait to take it to Beat the Creek next year. You and Matt should add this event. Tiny truck’n fun
I love both, I have some rigs that have 4ws, diff locks and 2 speeds, and other rigs with fixed drives, one speed transmission and simple servo mount. Really varies, also working on a hydraulic steering vehicle so it probably won’t be simple!
Simplicity is situational. I have trucks that just have forward backwards and turning and I have other trucks to have dig and two speed and lights and sound. It's just what you're in the mood to drive that day.
I moved to North Carolina but I'm still comin for that cat one of these days! -Monster Parts
I appreciate Chief trying to leak something for us.
Got the files and ordered a skid from brazin
I like the simple and easy to use 😊 and love your 🐈 very cool 😎
Keep it simple with performance. Good kitty...
I like options, so some days I like a RC with all the options and some days I like to just hit the trigger and go. There is no wrong way to RC.
My kitty is obsessed with me too!!
Depends on what I’m doing. I like dig and the selectable OD in a vfd twin is nice at time. Diffs and 2 speed I find nice for hiking trips that have off the path crawling spots. Serious crawling is all fixed and maybe a winch. Lights are always fun.
I like it simple, and as long my rig looks good and the 4 wheels are running and it is turning the way I want I am happy!!!!!!
Bought the TORO MLS-1022 at Furitek Vendor Tent at Axialfest Badlands.
I like all the options because I like to trail and crawl.
not me looking for my cat for a solid 10 seconds till i realized it wasn't mine mouthing off
I have been running a Torq micro servo helidirect sent me in my mini crawlers for a coupe yrs now. Been a great servo currently in my trx4m ripper build and going strong. The new design having the mount build into the servo is a interesting for sure.
Love that Knights Custom H10 interior, best I've seen!! Just gotta replace the heads on the bodies with something that won't scare the kids😯😲😳🥴
Kitty just wanted us to all see the behind the scenes truth of a messy studio.
I like my rigs, mostly simple. Lights and thats about it. The Vanquish Products rig that I am building currently, the 2022 Builders Bundle. Is going to be the most complex rig in my fleet. With dig, two overdrive options, and eventually lights.
The more buttons and gadgets the better!!! Also I’m starting to lose hope on the H10 kit announcement….. it’s gotta be soon .. please!!!
What do you mean by: miijaauw? Like to unlock diff's on a light trail, and lock them when needed. Same with high speed. But have one truck with one speed and locked diff's.
I had a crawler and a trail truck that were both pretty simple and never thought they needed anything more. But both were stolen and I am trying to save up enough to get another truck. I enjoyed doing both soI’m leaning towards the FCX10 because it seems like it could do both in one vehicle. So in this instance I think the multi functions are a good option.
I like the setup you have in your buggy. That would be my ideal crawler setup. I'm with you on the other stuff though. No need for 2 speed Trans. Unless it's low and even lower! Lol. And don't need open defs either.
Great news week. The buggy would be a blast to do. I can't right now. But. Maybe one day soon I will. Current place we live in... can't weld or braz3. Vision is an issue. But that's not a worry. I was a welder before my vision went bad. So... id manage. Anywho. As for the question. I don't care for 2 speeds, I may be letting dig happen. I see the purpose for it, in specific builds. 4ws would be fun. But really. I like to keep things simple.
All the features all the time!
I like both, sometimes I just want to crawl no nonsense! Then sometimes I like to challenge myself with the options!
I like both. Features are nice but so is a one speed with mild over drive
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. K.I.S.S. That is literally what makes the Torq MLS 10-22 so cool. I have been running the prototype since BTC 2024. It's an awesome servo.
i like each truck i have, got a class 2 comp rig with element stealth transmison for the over drive and a muscle winch on 1 of the side trays with a little pipe guiding the winch line to the front bumper and i love it, but also have a forward skid class 3 rig with a working towboom with a strong servo winch on it rear steer and a kenetic (elastic) winch out the front with major over and under drive gear in the diffs on some proline 1.9/5.4 TSL boggers. and next to all that i also have a trx4 with the locking diffs and 2 speed which is awesome for trail driving but also having great fun with my new vanquish H10 with just a decent servo and a fusion stuck into it
I like both. For really hitting hard lines I like my simple 10.2 deadbolt with f10 axles without any bells and whistles, but for trailing I like my Phoenix with OD and Dig or my TRX-4 bronco with all the options. When trailing I like to challenge myself with the open diffs. The brushed motor set up works well with the light kit so I like having the 2 speed for the torque. Traxxas also has a better 2 speed than axial, the axial one is basically useless.
I like having both sorts of trucks, there's times when it's just fun to drive a 2 channel truck and the reward of getting over stuff through pure driving skill. Then other times it's fun to see the benefits and develop skills using different functions eg DIG, 4WS etc. I do wish manufacturers that supply light kits would have an option to turn the indicators/blinkers off!
Dig is necessary also 4 wheel steer dependent on the rig with overdrive being last or least important....dig and 4 wheel steer for sure
I like both complex and simple, my Phoenix is my "complex" car, but i have other 2ch ones which i like the simplicity also.
Single speed. Winch that is with throttle when activated. Simple is nice for scale. Comp yeah extra helps
I’d like to have light controls on my trail crawler, and others. Otherwise maybe a 2 speed, but I think I’d want different suspension setup like twin beams!
I did get a Frsky Taranis to steer my Wraith with 4ws, dig, multiple winches etc so I like lots of functions on my scale toys, but as for my faster vehivles like Stampede och boats I prefer to KISS :)
Depends on what I am going to do. If it is a trail truck don't need everything. If it is a rock crawler it at least needs dig and overdrive. I don't have any with a two speed I feel the same about brushless motors with out a 2 speed.
I have a 32 channel radio. I want ALL the functions!
For my crawler, 3 or 4. For my scale builds, as many as I can get.
I think it depends on what I'm doing simple is always good it is nice to have all the bells and whistles if you're showing it to someone you're trying to get into the hobby though
More than 2 channels on a car or crawler is excessive debauchery :D But seriously, on my RC earthmovers I have 4 to 16 functions, thankfully not all at the same time :D
Features are fun but have use cases, it all depends on the trail or style of crawling you feel like doing that day.
Some trucks i enjoy getting button stupid, an others I enjoy simply just driving, nothing extra, Chief for the win
I like having useful complexity as well, Dig, overdrive and a winch on my Phoenix is so much fun. I did not enjoy my trx4's 2 speed and locking diffs as much, they seemed like pointless complexity.
Seems like every tire proline makes is good. Finally mounted my first set of swampers, even in g8, they’re freakin awesome here in Pittsburgh. So pleasantly surprised. Perfect on the optic. Which btw I just bout burned it to the ground when it got wet with RTR electronics, fortunately didn’t swap em yet! No biggie tho my ballsy buddy got the battery out and put a stop to the chaos. Man I need to get a pro moto! Just Looks soooo good! I love to have all the functions! But there’s time ya just need to dumb it down!😆😋🤓
I fewer controls, too many and I start doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.
I keep it stupid simple and run a sensored brushless setup.. hobbywing axe also have a fusion and furitek python pro. ❤
Hmm, never saw purr kitty crawler. At least it has retractable profile pattern ....
I have always kept my rcs simple when it comes to bells and whistles. My scx6 is the only truck I have that has a two speed in it. All of them do have mamba x so I do have the drag brake on/off and my c2 comp truck had a winch. I recently put a bta mount on it and it took the room of where the winch used to be. I have never really liked winching anyways so i may leave it off. I'd rather drive the course. I brought up to a buddy how i liked how the we rock comp was set up with nobody having a winch and how it forced you to really drive the course.
I like to have features that are usefull like a winch or a selectable overdrive (my phoenix). I like cats so loved the end of your video ;)
You're probably thinking of Fossil watches. They were popular in the early/mid 2000s. My Phoenix is about the limit for me....maybe some rear steer. But I seem to have the most fun with my lcg cheater that's a 2 channel rig.
I've only had simple trucks, unlockable diffs could be interesting but I'd rather try 4ws. Chief would be a great co-host
Da' Fuzzz. Loved the bonus content. I like the option of the features, then I can use them or not, my choice.
I'm keeping it simple, still havent activated DIG or OD on my Phoenix after a year. Might be adding DIG to my Optic though 🤔
I like complicated stuff lol. Just bought a mt12 so that should help
I keep mine simple. Single speed with nice brushless motor setup
All the buttons!! What else am I gonna blame for gate hits...haha
“Siri play Just the 2 of us!”
Love the smack talk about matt always! Lol
Ahhh the ol copyright battles. Get your popcorn😂
Like having all the options
I pulled the 2 accessory servos out of my VS4-10. My other rigs, I don’t use the 2 speed or dig.
I have examples of all the crawlers; simple element RC design to Traxxas with everything but dig. The function I use the least of any is dig, unlocking the front, rear or both diffs depending on the situation gives you the same effect with more control than you get in most circumstances you'd use dig without upsetting the chassis. Rarely I think a quick pivot turn is useful... But still do it when I have a dig model with me. If I'm going to a location for the first time, trx4 and Element Trailwalker on the trip. If I've been there before and know what the terrain is then I consider others like vanquish or axial models. The perfect model would be a TRX4 with dig.... Give me the buttons
I like both at times. Super simple trucks are so fun to drive in certain situations. Then having dig, and 4ws, and selectable overdrive is fun. I never used the unlocking diff, and the 2speed isn’t needed.
Trail truck wise the scx6 two speed trans good to go! Ryft, two speed trans. Capra 4WS. Would love to get into the buggy you have with all the buttons to just push the limits of driver capabilities. The buggy will do it but can the driver make it do it kind of thing.
7:01 haha the Instagram reels keep playing there on accident. Damn auto skip 😂
Just like slow is fast, less is more. I have a truck that needs 9 channels to operate everything on it, it isn't a crawler thankfully because I wouldn't want that much stuff to focus on as well as not fall off the cliff I am standing on when crawling. I am aokay just backing up and 3 pointing a tight turn than messing with extra functions.
Just 1 other switch for crawler lights. Nothing else. Not dig, not od selection, no 4wd. Love me some cat vids
