I saw this video a couple moths ago and shared it a ton of times after discovering how effective the chain-link really is, in-game. I'm bummed you're not getting more views, since this is really brilliant. On the other hand...I'm having really good success with "screened-in-turrets" as I'm calling them now, mostly because people don't know what to make of them...having not seen this video. Point is...I think you're a genius bro, especially since nobody is catching on, lol....the profits from "screened-in-turrets" on my "properties", are pretty damn good lol.

how do i load my turret with ammo if i’m using chain link fence don’t i need a cell door too open and close it ???

This video deserves 100k views for sure. As a solo player who lives in the snow, I build big compounds and have a lot of sulfur inside. Big target on my back. Using this system not only does it trick uneducated people into trying to take them out from a distance with 0 progress, but it also creates the illusion of a roleplayer base. I usually run 9 turrets per windmill with 2 large batteries tied into each other using 4 splitters and 3 smart switches linked to Rust plus. This makes the turrets so much more difficult to deal with. Great job. I'd also like to add that attaching flash lights to the auto turret guns gives you 24/7 lighting for free as well. Best if used with incen 5.56 and ak/m2 if possible.

Holy shit I didn’t think about adding flashlights to the weapons inside the auto turret. Not sure if I’d want my base to light up like a christmas tree at night but it sounds clever! Might test it out :)

​@@MusicalMadman1two3 I did. Things such as "Attention is all you need" - by google. It's High level/no details, 3 pages. Then you also have any papers without a baseline, making random assumptions about their ML model and cherry-picking the best results to flatter their own ego. I also read some "social science" papers. Assumptions and tiny ass test samples are the name of the game. Most of what is said can not be reproduced, either because their method is NOT well documented, but most often because they had a small sample and were way below their expected p-value. TL;DR Modern papery boys produce shit because they get paid for how much shit they produce. The measure became the objective, thus losing all value as a measure. Good papers are buried under trivial/bad papers. Modern science is dead and we have killed it!

Realistically, someone would be trying to arrow or shoot out a turret from 9+ foundations away 75% of the time. Also, don't deploy the turret so close to the cell door / cell wall. You want the turret more towards the back away from the cell door/ cell wall. When firing from a greater distance you'll find more shots / arrows will hit the bars due to reduced accuracy. I also wouldn't be surprised if backing the turret away from the prison cell wall / door and firing the rocket from 9+ foundations away further reduced damage.

in my experience, if they come packing rockets, you probably gonna get raided anyway and having fence or cell bars is rendered moot...

Yea this test isn’t realistic. Would like to see it done from 9-10 foundations away. You won’t be able to make 75% of the shots. Why didn’t you back up more

Just a quick tip it takes more then what you tested because you were shooting the turret so close the only thing that range doesn't effect is the rockets.

I know, but it all depends on the viewer. 10% of people say its too slow, 10% say its too fast. So I try cater for the majority. Also Im quite methodical in my manner and that can come across as mansplaining... You can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. I guess thats why youtube has the playback speed option ;) Glad you enjoyed the video :)

I disagree...chain-link fence stops attack-heli damage and nakeds with fire-arrows....more turrets just cost more/give the enemy more free guns, in both of those scenarios.

@@randomdude8310 when I’m raiding a base , I’d rather face more fences, than face more turrets . Less risk of dying and online raid will be easier. Depends on how secure you want your base to be.

I forgot to add that the ammo you use in your turret helps too...My favorites are incendiary rounds, or "flamin' hot cheetohs" as I call them. The incens will do more damage, thus killing anyone in it's range slightly quicker. While explosive ammo, will kill them even quicker, it won't justify giving the enemy materials for raiding metal doors etc.

Doesn't barbed wire reduce the power of turrets?

I did check, some shots go through the bars, some dont. It depends on the angle and distance of the shot.

The thing is, at that range the turret is shooting at you. Meaning you would likely miss some shots on the prison bars.

I tried spears and bunch of other stuff...only thing that damages it meaningfully/timely, is rockets...so it's like adding two more rockets to a raid sorta...the turret seems to be more of a deterrent, than the sulfur cost, in my experience. Plus nobody knows exactly how much more rockets to bring for it since they've never really encountered it.

When you destroy the turret can you loot the drop through the fence?

yes...you can't repair the turret without /removing the fence, (if the server has /remove) or placing a gate. the gate has half the durability of the regular chain-link fence though, so you're strategy may vary from server to server.

What if you put it on a triangle foundation with 2 fences does that affect it if you are standing infront of it

2 fences stops arrows from getting thru and usually they have to get thru both fences to damage turret splash damage from rockets is negated since the turrets are further away from the impact site of the rocket. At least I think that's how it works

Yes but it costs 25% less to explo ammo or hv rocker it

You should've tested the gates, cus id want to be able to access the turrets and with the fence u cant do that

@@forbzinator yup, you rights, the only way you can repair them through a fence is if you place the fence first then clip the leg of the turret through the fence :/

Yup they FINALLY patched it... Arrows go through but do less damage, but still do damage... Using cell bars theres a chance the arrow hits the bars instead of the turrets. So they've balanced it out :(

Iv just checked, auto turrets can definitely still shoot through chain link fences and jail bars on pc. Flame turrets cant shoot up so they cant reach you on mesh floors. NB! Chainlink fences still protect against prim weapons, and bullets.

found out explo ammo doesent damage turrets, messing around with 5x with my friends which is why we needed to know since the only way to not get raided is to have good turrets and to lag the game to below 20 fps when outside our base lol

@@AlteredGamersSA yea, there is a way to destroy though which is splash damage by hitting the door frame its placed in or the floor edge, for anyone who doesent know though its pretty effective at wasting thousands of explo ammo on our 5x

Hey Swamp! Fire arrows are a good point, so I tested them and guess what! The fence puts the fire arrow out as it goes through and does zero damage to the turret or the fence! :))) Another question answered! :)

Just tested flame arrows: 11 damage with prison bars... 0 damage with chainlink fence. The arrows didnt even damage the fence let alone the turret :)

@@lescourtney657 It takes 5 F1 nades to destroy a turret, only problem is you cant get close enough to throw them directly. You would need to bounce them off a wall or something, which isn't always feasible. It takes 20 F1 nades to destroy a chain link fence and 50 for a prison cell wall.
