Pat Stewart is so f@cking cool that he got introduced TWICE tonight at the Bryan Adams concert in Sunrise FL. I have to say it was so cool to get up close to the stage to see this iconic drum kit. I can only imagine how cool it is to be on a major tour and playing a kit bought in high school when you’re still dreaming of being a rock star. What a great sh aow tonight and I loved watching Pat rock that iconic kit. Bryan Adams is an integral part of the soundtrack of my 20s playing drums in a band playing some of these “recent” songs. Best of all tonight they sang happy birthday to me… well maybe not me but for some chick up close and according to Bryan anyone else celebrating a birthday (last night). Thanks guys… YOU ROCKED THE HOUSE

My first cymbals were a Sabina HH 18" Chinese, 16" Thin Crash, and the 20" Leopard Ride. That ride was one of the first ones off the line I believe. The drum store I was at had just gotten it in, and the second I played it I was obsessed, and my dad secretly bought it for me for Christmas. It was my main ride for 20+ years. Still have it and whenever I bring it out it gets compliments. So it was very cool to hear the story of how that ride came to be. Thanks to Pat for the story, the years of great parts, and of course for my Leopard ride!

Pat is an amazing player, and a fantastic live performer in every band I've seen him with. It's great to seem him back with Adams, and I'm sure it's a great vibe for the whole band. Great rundown on the gear. Neat story on history of the vintage kit. Those Leopard rides became a big thing back in the day. Especially being in Canada, I do remember Pat being a pretty prominent "poster boy" for Sabian back in the mid '80s. You can tell he's especially proud of that long term relationship.

I like that a lot of pro drummers are currently refurbishing older kits and using them live, a lot of drum companies are just not the same anymore, so going back to drums that were made in a better era for drums is a great idea.

    1) it's great to see a drummer bringing his very own, dear old beloved drumkit on the road, even in a production as big as this. Just like he's still playing weekend gigs in local pubs and clubs with his friends 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 2) it's curious the "top rims swap" thing, die-cast on the Ludwig toms and triple-flanged on the Gretsch snare, as "iconic" as "Gretsch with die-cast and Ludwig with triple-flanged" is. Go for the sound 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Pretty easy to tell the difference, it's obvious around when Pat plays at 15:24 , bot great but they play differently., Mickey has a superb groove with 16ths on the hats, je gas more nuance on the ride and his snare backbeat sits a tad behind making his overall sound absolutely fat and fabulous. His sound is signature and easily picked on most recordings he has done from Alice Cooper to the Cult, Hall Oates etc.

No he is right. I had a black kit in 1979 with power Tom's and 24 bass like the one shown and they were 6 ply all maple. Awesome kit. The bd was ferocious in its sound. My kit didn't have the rivet finish on the wrap seam you can see on the floor Tom. I prefer the more modern Yamaha silver sparkle but the Ludwig one was defining. Ian Paice obviously and I think Joe Morello

@@markrushton1516 Ludwig didn’t make an all-maple kit until the classic maple, and those debuted in the nineties. Also…this is not a dig, those old Ludwig’s sound amazing. Maple/poplar is such a good combo that they brought it back. It’s also what Gretsch uses in the Brooklyn series. All-maple doesn’t mean better, in all circumstances.
