These songs will always remind me of my brother and I traveling down the west coast of Costa Rica. My brother is dieing of cancer now, but Pat's song will always bring great memories of my brother and C.R.

When I hear Last Train Home...it takes me back to my very young years. I was born in 1950, a poor, snotty nosed kid running around in a very small town in Kentucky. The steam engine coal powered trains would come through this little town often, belching the coal burning smoke as they passed by with their loads of coal from the nearby coal mines. The smoke smelled like the chimney smoke from most all the homes in the cold winter months, only much stronger, of course. Being poor, we lived next to the railroad tracks and every so often a passenger train would pass by at night and I would run out to watch it. I wondered about the rich people who were riding in those fancy cars, being warm and well fed going through the night. I would wonder where they were going? After a young life of poverty, I set my mind to becoming rich enough to have the clothes, the food and everything I wanted. So with hard work and determination I made it! And I too finally rode those trains, travelling through the night, going home. God Bless Pat Metheny and friends for giving me a childhood memory.

For me , the same , in the south east Wales . full of coal and very little education but , plenty imagination which, led me one happy day to Metheny .Praise the Lord !!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all of Kentucky's traditions. The poor Tennessee. And all our faults, and our love.

Every time I hear Last Train it just brings back so many memories. I cannot think of a musician that comes up with these soul searching tunes. Also fond memories of Lyle Mays….. what a amazing musician, God rest his soul. Together Pat and Lyle created so many incredible pieces.

I'm a firm Believer in God and Jesus Christ/Yeshua, and I believe that music of this absolutely unique quality has to come from God, through those like Pat Metheny and given to us as a gift beyond explanation! One of the greatest tunes of all time. Hauntingly beautiful and melancholic.

Every time I listen to Pat Metheny I hear Jaco Pastorius.

Love Pat and Lyle. So many memories of my business trips with this music as the background to my journeys. Will be with me until the end. RIP Lyle.

I had the privilege to see Pat Metheny live twice already. I am very happy and thankful to the universe for that....2018 and 2022. But unfortunately I never could see the Pat Metheny Group live. Man, what a group! Astonishing! Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays are the Lennon/MacCartney of jazz. God bless music, the Pat Metheny group, and all the musicians that have been in it since the very beginning. Godspeed!

Lad ya missed a Unbelievably Talented group - Still Life was/is an amazing album - and I got to see them in NYC at Radio City - Nothing better than seeing a band in a great acoustical setting.

Still life talking was my first CD of Metheny. I could not believe the sheer beauty of " In her family " and knew that it couldn't be a real drummer on Last train. I saw them at festival Hall London soon after and just could not believe what I saw. That drummer did Last Train and the whole set !! and as for Lyle Mays - what a terrible loss - he was beyond amazing.

Still the happiest feel good music on the planet!

From that great 1987 album, 'Still Life (Talking)" that I still play to this day. I wished I saw this line up play it live.

One of his best albums ever. You know how on some albums, you skip around to all the “good” tunes? Not Still Life (Talking). There isn’t one bad song, not one.

Every time I hear this great composition I'm reminded of summer of '68 watching Bobby Kennedy's funeral train traveling across the country to his resting place in Arlington. Thank you Pat and Lyle for so much inspiration! God Bless USA!

Thank you for your guitar and your playing , brilliant. Lyle died too young . He played keyboards awesome. To play with Pat he has a feel for the music like Pat with feeling.

Love the early years of PMG, and that irreplaceable voice of Pedro Aznar. RIP Lyle Mays, Naná, and Mark Ledford!!! We’ll miss you!!

Minuano was the song I played during my university years when I had to let go of some steam and bring myself to another level to be completely relaxed afterwards. Of course, it was on full blast completely surrounded by the music!!

This song is so beautiful!!!

Remember when the PMG was on world tour in the 90s and my family saw them in Detroit at the historical Fox Theatre in 1994. I’ll never forget how heavenly that tour performance was! I’ve been blessed to see Pat Metheny on tour performances since then with his other bands formed after 2010. The Pat Metheny Unity Band, and on. Had the pleasure of meeting him during his first Detroit Jazz Festival performance, then seeing Pat twice again at Detroit Jazz Fest, and then several times in Michigan for tour performances over the years.

I have been listening to PMG since the seventies and have every one of his albums. Seen him many times and most recently in Barcelona, last summer. His music is timeless, Romantic and evokes the days of travel and adventure I have had in my life. Great driving music. All of these musicians are top notch.

The concerts with pat and Lyle were like riding a spaceship to perfect galaxies. Transformative

My personal favorite is SAN LORENZO from the first CD. What a brilliant piece of music. Long live Pat Metheny and his music!

San Lorenzo off the double LP from vinyl days... Travels!!! Awesome.

So many great tunes from him and Lyle, miss those days.

I had the pleasure to be at that 1989 outdoor concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Montreal Jazz Festival. What a show in front of a crowd evaluated at 100,000 people… He was coming every year since the creation of the festival. Such a musician and great music with his longtime partners the late Lyle Mays and Steve Rodby.

Steve Rodby left the band not long after this was recorded. He was the last of the original lineup other than Lyle Mays.. RIP… I was fortunate to see the original lineup back in 1995.. There was a certain vibe that Blamirez and Ledford brought that has never been duplicated.

Amen - was lucky enough to see Pat and Lyle many times. Lyle - RIP, Pat can't wait to see you in Sept., here in Toronto!

Last train home awesome ,but without RIP Lyle, RIP Nana vascenselos, missed dearly master drummer Paul Vertico . it ain't the same . I have been following Pat since 1977 and honored to have witnessed PMG.

I still remember when I first listened to New Chautauqua back in 1978 and how mesmerized I was by that sound. Until now.

Best Jazz Fusion band in my Lifetime_ bar none. That's why Ive seen them 6x over the years!!!!

When I was a kid my mom used to take me watch trains go by... she has passed almost 27 years now... everytime I hear this piece it just brings back bitter sweet memories!

Hearing "Last Train" many years ago on The Weather Channels "8 on the 8s" and tracking down just what the heck it was, is what started it all for me! Been a frequent-listening fan of PM ever since.

How many of you drummers out there think you can pull Train off. : ) So hard to call any of Pat and Lyle's stuff the "best" of their stuff, but Train and Minuano are certainly some of the best things that have ever been offered to we The lucky public. So grateful to have met Pat twice. RIP Lyle.

I believe this may have been from the last The Way Up concert at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Unfortunately really the last real full PMG lineup. They did a brief songbook tour as a four piece, but this - as one of their very favourite venues, was a fitting swan song 😊

I agree, followed closely by another track on that same album, Third Wind. To me those are two of the finest pieces in Jazz history.

i met Pat Metheny at Manny's, or was it Sam Ash, in NYC right after Still Life Talking was released. Very down to earth, very appreciative of my compliments of the new album.

Thank you to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for introducing me to this song, & Pat Metheny in general.
