Grammy Award winning finger-picking guitarist PAT DONOHUE brought his band PAT DONOHUE & THE PRAIRIE ALL STARS to the Silver Bay Reunion Hall in downtown Silver Bay's entertainment district on Friday, August 11, 2023. The show was moved indoors due to rain and the crowd of about 200 was treated to an amazing display of musical talent.
Pat Donohue is one of the most listened-to finger pickers in the world,” said Rocky Wall Productions President Nelson French, “his devotion to acoustic guitar has made him an American standard, as he echoes the tones of Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Merle Travis and Muddy Waters. Chet Atkins called Pat one of the greatest fingerpickers in the world today and Leo Kottke has called his playing ‘haunting’.”
Honors include a 2005 Grammy for his participation on Pink Guitar, a compilation of Henry Mancini tunes on acoustic guitar, several Minnesota Music Awards, and the title of 1983 National Finger Picking Guitar Champion. His original tunes have been recorded by Chet Atkins, Suzy Bogguss and Kenny Rogers. Pat has also been a featured performer at major music festivals including the Newport, Telluride and Philadelphia Folk Festivals.
