Most people with common sense shouldn’t need the comparison spelt out.🤷‍♂️ How on earth can a 22 year old compare to the finished product of a GOAT? MJ may have lost in the playoffs early, but it’s about what he accomplished as a finished product. Ants still honing his craft, but it’s the tool set he brings with him, that allows you to see the path he’s on.

When we make the comparison, we’re looking at his play style, charisma, hunger, athleticism, etc. Of course he still needs to grow and develop just as any star in the league does but if we look at what he’s brought to the table so far, we can see his potential.

Especially being compared to someone who’s been idolized by a public that ignores them their every flaw. So when he doesn’t live up to said comparison in the smallest ways, or even decides to move in his own direction, the public loves to claim failure and that supposed failure gets amplified because it’s not what the “goat” woulda done. We already see him getting clowned for not living up to his highness after the wcf

They were complaining about him not passing the rock and wanted more touches. That’s probably why he started passing so much. The coach didn’t stop that conversation. The problem with the MJ comparisons is that there was so much that he did, at so many different levels, that it makes ridiculous any attempts to match others with him. Have what Mike did in college, including a Champion game winning shot. The centerpiece of the 84 Olympics Gold medal winner. The Rookie of the Year. The 63 pts. vs. The Celtics in the old Boston Garden. 10x season scoring champs. Frequent teals leader. Repeating Slam Dunk Champ. Numerous All-Star Game MVPs. 10X First Team All NBA. 9X First Team All-Defensive NBA. 5X MVP, including an MVP and DPOY in the same year. The centerpiece of 1992 Dream Team Gold Medal winner. All-time NBA regular and playoff seasons per game scoring leader. The 2-time 3-peat Champion and 6X Finals MVP, including All-time NBA Championship per game scoring leader. And there are all of the social and cultural influences that Mike either created or embellished. The style of play. The bald head. The extended tongue. The swagger. Gatorade. "Be Like Mike!" Space Jam. The Air Jordans! Mike accomplished TOO MUCH for any one athlete to be matched against. It's not fair to the greatness of MJ. And it is certainly not fair to a kid like Anthony Edwards, who is WORLDS away from achieving even a fraction of any of what Michael Jordan did!

I'm siding with Pat Bev. If it's understood that you need the 3 to win and got a 7 footer on a guard, wouldn't he just need to chase him off the line? I'd rather the guard beat me off the dribble and tie the game vs letting him bop me with a cross, having me back pedaling, and hit a 3 over me

Agree with Shad, "It's a fair assessment". Pat Bev's opinion is reasonable, considering Ant's physical gifts and the way he plays and at the rate he's going, Ant CAN (not saying "will") be as great as MJ or CAN be close to the greatness of MJ.

I agree wit Pat. There was nothin the wolves could do. Rewatch the last play. If they threw a trap it was coming from either daniel or ant and both of those situation aren’t good. Even if Daniel comes up to trap it’s gonna be from da left, which means he can just drive to da right and if Ant helps a 3 ball cuz it’s kyrie( by y’all’s logic u are wanting the ball outta luka’s hand so we can assume that the timberwolves immediately send help w which leaves kyrie open). The pass to lively is an easy 2 and still would be considered a quick 2 so they will have another chance to score. If this was game 7 maybe but it’s was game 5 down 3 in the series. The timberwolves are prolly gassed

Wolves fan here… I love Beverly, but we had better luck later in the series, with blitzing Luka and getting the ball out of his hands early. Doubling Luka was a better option, for us. And, on that play with Rudy in iso. Rudy should have just played up and invited the drive by. Our D has been great all season, someone would have rotated over to help contest on the drive. Instead, he was trying to do too much, and got put in a blender 🤣
