Thus, many times man’s will is against God’s will in prayer but we tend to believe that whatever we pray God will just do regardless of His perfect will! Once James and John (Christ’s cousins) with their mother Salome (Mary’s sister) came to Christ in Matthew 20:20-24 and asked Him to grant one sit on His right and another on the left side, but Christ told them plainly that they did not know what they were asking! He plainly told them that what they were asking could never happen if His Father had not ordained it from the beginning. Likewise, we should know that since we are limited in wisdom sometimes our needs and prayers may not be according to God’s will. Many believers are deceived by thinking that God can do for them whatever they desire. They quote many Scriptures out of context. They seriously pray without being willing to accept God’s will for their lives. They persist in praying, yet utterly praying against God’s will. But we need to be aware of God’s threefold way of answering our prayers, which is “yes,” “no,” or “wait.” Actually, sometimes God’s “no,” or “wait” may be the best answer for us for certain situations. We should remember that when we pray God hears more than we ask, He gives more than we imagine, but always in His own time and in His own way.

I once heard a certain famous pastor in our country who, over the radio spoke to his audience by saying, “today I have changed the phrase which says, “let your will be done, from the Lord’s Prayer,” but begin praying, “let my will be done!” He commanded his audience to command God to do their will instead of His will! He quoted John 15:7, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” ESV And this preacher is not the only one believes likewise, but even their superstar―pastor Toufic Benedictus Hinn does so. He once admonished his audience and said, “Never, ever, ever go to the Lord and say, If it be thy will.’ Don’t allow such a faith-destroying words to be spoken from your mouth. When you pray “if it be your will, Lord,’ faith will be destroyed.” However, I do not know how such preachers could harmonize 1 John. 5:14 that says, “…And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us,” ESV with their false belief. I firmly believe that God only answers prayers that are according to His perfect will. Therefore, his counsel was completely against God’s Word. Since God warns us through the same Apostle from the book of Revelation 22:18-19, never to interfere with His written word: “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” ESV Moses told the same thing to the children of Israel in the wilderness, when they were coming from Egypt in Deuteronomy 4:2, “You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you.” ESV God has never licensed any preacher to modify His Word, but we are only called and commanded to preach and teach it faithfully. However, there are certain men, when it comes to prayers, who think that they have ultimate authority, even to change God’s Word and his will or command Him to listen to them and do what they need Him to do without any choice! They make themselves masters and God their servant! However, prayer cannot change anything unless it is according to God’s will. If Christ’s prayers, agonies, cries, and petitions concerning His death in Mathew 26:38-39, could not change God’s plan, who are we to think that we can make Him change His perfect will for our lives? “Then he said to them, my soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me. And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. ESV

Be totally surrendered to God’s will for the rest of your life! You need a definite act of absolute surrender of your whole being. Surrender all personhood, ambition, desires, possessions, love and your whole present and future. Can God do with you whatever He likes? Can He change your plans, goals and ambitions? Can He reject or forbid your plans without explanation and consulting you? Can He move you from one situation to another without your complaints? Can He ask you whatever He wills and you say yes? To know the will of God we must will the will of God, and we must fully commit ourselves to God permanently. Seek to discover His will and to support it not to oppose it. God’s will is not done automatically by a surrendered person. It must become the passion of your soul to do and to approve it in everything...” James 4:13-16 says that we always boast in our arrogance by thinking that we can even control our future, yet we know not even what tomorrow may bring, “…Instead you ought to say, " If the Lord wills…ESV It is a serious deception and arrogance for someone to think that he can pray; and God should answer him positively without any hesitation or choice. Even Paul tells us that the Spirit intercedes for us only according to God’s will in Romans 8:27. The Puritans always prayed, “Lord, whatever you want, wherever you want, and whenever you want, that’s what I want Lord!” (Source unknown) These saints totally and willingly depended on God’s will without any reservation. They heartily desired to follow God’s perfect Will for their lives instead of clinging to their own will. Duewel says again, “Any prayer that is selfish, vindictive, or with wrong motive dies on your lips...Prayer does not fail because of the inadequacy of your words in expressing your requests. Prayer fails when silenced by His Holy Name. His Holy Name is a flaming fire that consumes all that is unworthy in His sight and contrary to His will. His name judges your motive...and demands your total integrity. Unworthy prayer cannot penetrate to Christ’s intercessory throne. Jesus will “amen” such prayer. He will never commend it to the Father. It dies on your lips the moment you pray in His name. Only when your heart-cry is in holy harmony with His holy desires can you be authorized to use His name.” Many preachers tend to act as if they have every solution for every problem for the people. They instinctively believe that they have every solution for every body’s problem. However, they are horribly deceived to think that God has appointed them to stand exactly in His place for His people. They make themselves the ultimate answer for every problem, but what can we say about Moses who prayed and God refused to listen to him! Did he not have enough Spirit or faith? Hear what came from the mouth of this might man of God: "But the LORD was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. And the LORD said to me, 'Enough from you; do not speak to me of this matter again.” (Duet. 3:26). ESV Or, what can we say about the apostle Paul who also prayed for himself for the thorn in his body, but whom God denied relief in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9? “So to keep me from being too elated by the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” ESV Should we think that today God has raised up more powerful and spiritual preachers than the prophets and Apostles? Do they have more of the Spirit than the prophets and Apostles did? Not at all! Those preachers are deceived, and so they try to deceive others as well but as God’s faithful children, we should always determine to stand, trusting God regardless of our conditions. We should profess our faith in God like Habakkuk, when he had expected a positive answer from God for his condition but received the negative one (Habakkuk 3:17-19), “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the producer of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.” ESV May the almighty God strengthen and make your faith in Him firm regardless of what is happening around you. Amen! Deception 2: Miracles Are The Only True Mark For True Faith And Godliness. What is the main purpose of miracles? Does God intend to use miracles to make the human agent famous? Does God intend to use miracles to enrich the the preacher(s)? What should be our response when God perform miracles? What should be our motive regarding the subject of miracles? Millard J. Erickson outlines three major purposes of miracles: First, the most important purpose is to glorify God. This means that when miracles occur today, we should credit God, who is the source of the miracle, not the human agent who is the channel. In biblical times, a second purpose of miracles was to establish the supernatural basis of the revelation which often accompanied them. That the Greek word sēmeia (“signs”) frequently occurs in the New Testament as a term for miracles underscores this dimension. Thirdly, miracles occur to meet human needs. (But sometimes God does not meet our certain need simply because in His infinite wisdom, he knows that we do not need the things we are praying for at that particular moment). Our Lord frequently is pictured as moved with compassion for the needy, hurting people who came to him. He healed them to relieve the suffering caused by such maladies as blindness, leprosy, and hemorrhaging. He never performed miracles for the selfish purpose of putting on a display.” Moreover, some Christians are so much consumed by the concept of miracles to the extent of defining their faith in Christ based on miracles! Without miracles, their Christian life seems to be untrue. Some years ago, I met a vibrant young man who was an interpreter for his pastor in their church. Their church is one of those churches emphasizing the ministry of miracles. This young man told me that if someone dies by any disease like HIV/AIDS, cancer, or any other type of chronic disease without receiving healing miraculously, that person goes to hell! Surely, I was surprised; it is the first deception of that kind I had ever heard about miracles. This young man believes that you cannot die by these diseases if you have enough faith in God. He believed that someone’s true saving faith would only be manifested through physical healing and miracles. Therefore, I wondered whether this young man had ever read his Bible well and found out such verses: 2 Corinthians. 12:7-10 and 2 Kings 13:14. “Now when Elisha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die…” Did he know Exodus 4:11? “Then the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?” Did he know Deuteronomy 32:39? "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.” Italics added ESV Unbelievably, how could Paul’s prayer for his own healing be denied by the God he loved more than anything? Why would God allow Satan’s messenger to harass Paul when he was tirelessly working for the expansion of the Gospel? Was God not interested in what he was doing anymore? Was not God the one who had called Paul to preach the Gospel? Or, honestly, how could such a great man of God like Elisha be also stricken with sickness and die? Why did not God at least take him to heaven alive like his predecessor Elijah since he was moving under his anointing? Someone can raise numerous questions about such godly men who terribly suffered with various trials when they were tirelessly and faithfully serving God; yet He allowed suffering and pain to attack them ruthlessly without God’s direct intervention! However, we know very well that whatever happened to them was under God’s sovereign controlling hand. It is the same today. Nothing can ever happen to us without God being in control; and divinely ordained by Him. Dr. Donald Grey Barnhouse, once said, “No person in this world was ever blind that God had not planned for him to be blind; no person was ever deaf in this world that God had not planned for that person to be deaf…If you don’t believe that, you have a strange God who has a universe which has gone out of gear and He cannot control…This God who is the God of deafness, muteness, and blindness is also the God of cancer, arthritis, Down’s syndrome, and all other afflictions that come to us or our loved ones. None of these afflictions “just happen.” They are all within the sovereign will of God…The laws of genetics and diseases are as much under His control as are the laws of meteorology.”

His grieved soul and heart caused Him to draw Himself to God deeply moved and filled with fears and afflictions, so that His sweat became blood. Luke 22: 44 tell us that, “He being in agony, He Prayed more earnestly.” In addition, the author of Hebrews talks about his manner of prayer in 5:7, “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.” ESV Regardless of His sorrow for the situation, God did not change His perfect will for Him. Instead, He decided to help Him endure all the insults, mockeries and cruelties from the men He had created Himself. His prayers helped Him to endure the afflictions and pains He experienced during the process of His crucifixion instead of delivering Him from them. Edith Schaeffer says, “Closeness to the Lord and being in His will does not mean the end of all disasters, sudden shocks of illness or accidents, or even death.” A.W. Tozer in his book, The Price of Neglect also says, “In all our praying however, it’s important that we keep in mind that God will never alter His eternal purpose at the word of man whatsoever. We do not pray in order to persuade God to change His will but we pray so that God may enable us to do His own will in every circumstance. Prayer is not assault upon the reluctance of neither God nor an effort to secure a suspension of His will for us, or for whom we pray. Prayer is not intended to overcome God and to move His arm.” Prayer is not using God for our advantages or making Him do whatever we want. Billy Graham, in his book My Answer, says, “Prayer is not using God; it is more to get us in a position, where God can use us.” God wants us to pray so that He may use us, not so we may use Him for our own selfish ambitions. Prayer is consulting God to see if He really wants what we want or our desire is in accordance with His perfect will and purpose. King David prayed, “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.” (Psalms. 143:10) Therefore, before we ask God for what we want, we should consider what He wants first. We should be willing and ready to accept God’s will for our lives and situations we may be experiencing even though they may be difficult and painful. Our first prayer request should always be to discover God’s will for the situation. Wesley L. Duewel, in his book, Mighty Prevailing Prayer, tells us how Augustine, depend on God’s will, always prayed, “O Lord, grant that I may do your will as if it were my will, so that you may do my will as if it were your will.” Surely we should reach this kind of spiritual maturity, where one can say to God in prayer, “God I want what you want more than what I want!” Evelyn Christenson, in her book, what happens when Women Pray? Says, “Praying in God’s will is not easy yet it is very simple. It involves a commitment of every single thing that come into our lives to God and His perfect will. And it is exciting to live in complete oneness with the will of God.” We should learn to commit our will to God through prayer and let His will be done in our lives instead of ours, since knowing God’s perfect will for us makes our hearts rest in peace. Knowing God’s will answer a lot of questions, casts away all fears, frustrations, confusions, and doubts. It helps us to avoid complaining. We heartily depend on God regardless of the situation in our life. It helps us to avoid praying unnecessary prayers for the situation. It guides us to stand firm, strong, and to fight the real battles. It gives us tremendous confidence to pray when knowing that what we are praying for is in accordance to God’s perfect will. Sanders J. Osward, in his book Every Life a Plan of God, says, “If we are sincere in our prayers to understand the will of God and do it, our prayers might bring a change of direction of the zeal and strengthening of plan. Prayer is the rope that pulls God and man together; however, it does not pull God down to us rather it pulls us to Him. We must learn to say with the Master of prayer (Christ) not my will but thine be done.” When we meet God through prayer, we do not constrain Him to change His will but we agree with Him and let His be done in our life. How can you know that you are praying in God’s will? Wesley helps us to know how we can identify that we are praying according to God’s perfect will.

John 18:36English Standard Version (ESV) 36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Deceptions Christians Believe About Miracles And Prayer Deception 1: God Will Answer All Your Prayers Regardless Of His Will For The Matter. A young man whose father was a pastor once approached his father asking him to pray for him. He requested that his father convince God to allow him to continue his unlawful relationship with his girlfriend since he was not willing to leave her! This young man wanted God to change His will, but he himself did not want to change his. Another young lady approached her pastor asking him to bless her relationship with another woman’s husband. She told him that the other woman does not produce boys but only girls, so she should marry him and produce boys for him! She firmly believed that if the pastor prayed for their unlawful relationship God will permit them get married and be blessed!

please preach christ and him crucified. it's not about money. 1 Timothy 6:3-10English Standard Version (ESV) 3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound[a] words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain, 7 for we brought nothing into the world, and[b] we cannot take anything out of the world. 8 But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
