I agree that a fair number of church leader regardless if they are known as Priest, Pastor, some other title take more than what they are authorized to by the members of the church. Yet, most of these people in these positions are supported by their Church Membership, in return they are to provide Spiritual and Moral Leadership to the members. I am sure everything he took from the Church was his personal property. That akin of a general Church Member taken with them when they leave everything they donated, or worse market value of what they donated to the Church over their time being a Member. Just saying.

Why does the pastor even have access to the funds? The Pastor shouldn't be able to withdraw a dime (accept maybe a very small petty cash account) of money out of the church's account. You should have a treasurer who controls funds along with a treasury staff, and the church board should have to approve disbursements beyond regular bills. And all members should have access to see the finances of the church. One month of misspending should be readily recognizable at the monthly board meeting where finances should be regularly reviewed. If you give your money over to a church that does not operate in some similar fashion to the above, you're begging to get took, and its your fault.

​@@MIZTTC03 Actually, yeah they should, that's what petty cash is for. Still has to account for it, but the point is to have readily available cash for abrupt needs. If you have to wait for approval, it's the same as regular funds. Petty cash is a petty, insignificant amount of money that's at the ready for unplanned needs. For instance, someone comes to the church and needs money for an emergency. Or the church gets flooded (happened at my church from a busted toilet upstairs) and you need to go and buy a wet vac right now. Again, receipts have to be brought back to the finance committee and the board reviews the spending to make sure its not the pastor spending on himself or otherwise out of line spending; but provides some flexibility for small and immediate necessities. You can choose not to have that as well, if you think there too much opportunity for abuse even then; but it's a legit option though.

These churches should be taxed because they are small businesse enterprises. They make huge profits without declaring all those monies whilst workers are being fleeced by taxes. After all, everybody must contribute towards those. This is somewhat unfair!

Church is a big business. There’s a church on nearly every corner in the poorest communities. That’s where the money is at. Of course the preacher doesn’t live nearby. He just comes by to say a few words, collect his money and go back to his suburban home. It’s not a secret that some pastors are pimps.

I was a member of a Methodist youth group at Christ church in ft.lauderdale. I came home from my 1st semester at Michigan to find out that this pastor had been embezzling from a fund that was used as a college scholarship fund and was an adulterer. I should put his name here since neither he or his family can do anything to me legally. He was defrocked by the local Methodist Bishop. What galled me was that he denied everything even after the Bishop showed him the proof.

I said it then and I will say it again here in 2022. This is why I don't go to a church or claim a religion. I believe in God I love him I believe he is my way make strong deliver protector, provider and everything Church today Is a not for the community helping people build, it's a business.

Shame on that pastor because he will meet his maker one day. The thithes is to help the poor and not for his own selfish gains. He's a thief like many others and one day he will meet his Maker for sure. There are too much arm robbers leading the churches and taking advantage of innocent people
