It doesn’t matter because Japanese doesn’t work the same as English. In Japanese pronunciation it is Touya (to emphasize the “o”) but in spelling in English it would be Toya, because in English we already emphasize our vowels as compared to Japanese. - a person who has been studying Japanese within the past months
