Passport Renewal Finally Approved! How to Edit and Re-upload Photo
Renew Malaysian Passport Online

My husband recently renewed his passport online.
Filled out the application, uploaded the passport photo, all went well and submitted successfully. However he then received an email that says the application was rejected as the photo uploaded did not meet the required specifications. He is asked to re-upload another photo which meets the requirements.

He then took another photo at different distance. Re-uploaded the photo following the link provided. The photo was rejected again.
Edit the Photo

1. Use an online app to make the background white.
2. Edited the photo using MS Powerpoint or other editor. Insert the photo with the correct specifications. Right click on the photo and select Format Picture. Click on the Picture icon, and select Picture Transparency. Set the Transparency to about 65%. Insert the passport photo. Drag and overlay it on top of the transparent photo. That way, you can adjust the size accordingly matching the specific measurements. Also make sure there's more space on top. Delete the transparent image. Save the passport photo.
Re-upload the photo

Click on the link in the email. Enter the current passport and ID number and Search. The system will search for your existing application which has been put on hold. Select the photo. Move the position by dragging it into the oval shaped frame. Adjust the size using the scroll bar. Make sure the head is not touching the oval line. Submit.

Successful Upload

Finally the upload is successful. Got an email on the same day that says - Application is ACCEPTED. Passport is ready to be picked up.
Went to UTC KL at about 5pm. The queue was only 15 minutes.

Hello! thank you for your video 😄 Just wondering did the photo went resizing into a zoomed in version after uploading as Foto Crop / Dicetak Pada Passport? when upload process is done the proportion when abit zoomed in for mine and not much white head space on top, very confused 😢

Hi, the most important is the face has to be inside the frame. The space on top will then be adjusted accordingly. So before upload, make sure you have more space on top, it's ok, coz after the adjustment in the application tool, it will be cropped.

Is it utc Pudu branch? Can we choose the time for collecting new passport? Go directly to counter 10 to collect passport on the collection date/time?

Yes utc Pudu. You will receive an email saying your application is approved with the time/ date to collect, you cant' choose it. You can make an appointment, but you don't have to. they will let you know which counter to collect.

Hi, Starting 11 May 2022, Malaysians can only renew their passports online. Exceptions are new applicants, senior citizens, people with disabilities, children under 13 years old, students and haj applicants, or those who encounter issues with online application such as their fingerprints in the system is either damaged/ missing, they could go directly to the issuing offices counter.
I’m not getting option to upload photo…
