Passing Porsche's and Ferrari's in a K20 swapped Acura Integra at Streets of Willow

Our old Acura Integra project car proved to be quite a contender at a Streets of Willow lapping day as it took down some expensive Porsche's, Ferrari's and a bunch of other more powerful cars.
For photos as to what the car looks like check this post out: speed.academy/acura-integra-pa...

Not that those supercars have great difference over this Acura, just that I reckon the guy on the Integra is the only one there that actually knows the limits of his car.

that is very impressive, you can see where the teggy has severe under steer and the pilot still kept it under control... also he keep the rpms rev'ing even through the tighter corners. pilot definitely belongs in the advanced group. on events like this, exotics aren't pushed because if their value..I understand .. but that teggy was mashing on the straights... pilot stayed cool hand look the whole way... will check this channel for other bids of this teggy on the track

I love my EJ8. It's been an awesome platform for me. I bought it for $1000 USD from a kid that had no idea what he was doing. It had a JDM D15B VTEC block with a non-VTEC head and a JDM S8G Del Sol Si transmission. I put a D16Z6 VTEC head on it with a 63 trim turbo and on only 6 lbs it was an absolute beast on the drag strip revving to 9000 rpm between shifts. Today, it has a B18B1 non-VTEC (for torque and reliability) with an Integra GSR transmission and the same 63 trim turbo setup on 8 lbs and makes about 275 whp. I just bought a set of Bosch 650 cc injectors, an Omni-Power 3 bar MAP sensor, and a 15 psi spring for my 38mm external wastegate. I'm going for 350 whp and then it's suspension time. We have a local road racing track near here and I'm trying to make a nice, fast, clean car to take out there eventually. The issue with all of this and why it hasn't already been done is because I have a family (2 boys) and of course, they come first. It's really nice to have a goal though.

Hondas like DC2/DB8, EK9, FD2, DC5, AP1/2 with proper engine and suspension tuning are more likely to win against the EURO cars etc on the circuit but of course on straightways with their V6/8/10 engines and turbos obviously Hondas are no match not unless if we supercharged or turboed it

I'm thinking about taking my bone stock 2001 Vette to Streets in a few weeks. I used to do a lot of canyon driving when I was younger, but now that I sim race, I'm not as eager to abuse my car. Curious about the passing zones, aren't you supposed to restrict your passing to these two zones? What I saw was the driver trying to pass all over the track. I'm a little concerned about the bad driving I saw from other drivers. I used to win some things every now and then so I'm not trying to prove anything, but just have a little fun.

+John G. Hill It all depends on your run group. I was in the advanced group meaning there is opening passing everywhere since all drivers are supposed to be experienced which isn't always the case, as you saw. If you go to a track day and run with a reputable organization, you should have very little fear of incidents on track. Speed Ventures is great in SoCal and NASA is always a safe and reliable bet to get you on track and teach you. Good luck!

+Speed Academy Thanks for getting back to me. The impetus for me thinking about this is the new SCCA program for track days in the middle of the week. September 18th at Willow. They didn't say it would be Streets of Willow, but they showed the map and it looked like Streets to me. I have no concern with crashing on my part, just worried about some drivers. They have special follow alongs, and then they let people out later in three 20 minute sessions. About $115.00 bucks, so you can't beat it. I think the passing will be in special zones. I figured you must have been in the advanced session to be able to do that.

+John G. Hill There's always a risk but as long as you keep a good distance and only pass in straight zones you'll be fine. Sounds like you're set then! Streets is a great technical track. I'm sure you'll be hooked once you get out there and see how much fun it really is!

I always thought about that, or a s2000 engine. W.e is stronger but a honda engine for vtec and lols.

DoctaMarcos Why would you put an s2k engine in an frs/brz when you could just, I dunno...have an s2k? lol

Ethanmeister lol thats true, but bc BRZ. Isnt the handleing and suspension better than a s2k?

DoctaMarcos It's hard to say which handles as the two cars do what they do in different ways. As far as the suspension goes the BRZ has a more complicated multi-link suspension setup but I don't think it really has anything that makes it a better setup as the s2ks suspension can still be considered modern, and the s2000 suspension actually has more adjustability than the BRZs. Handling-wise, both cars have great balance. The s2k though is a more oversteer prone knife edge kind of car with (comparing it at the brz with decent tires) either way it wouldn't be worth the hassle to swap that engine into a car that was designed for a boxer engine, it would take far too much fab work, money and time. You'd be better off building the 4U or boosting it.

DoctaMarcos The BRZ actually has a bit more stable suspension setup than the S2K does prior CR years. AP1 being the most twitchy put a demand on Honda to readjust the suspension due to a high report of crashes. The FRS is similar to the s2000 being tail happy. Both cars are even in terms of suspension, both are great cars nonetheless. The only thing the S2K has over the 86 is power. They both have the same weight and very similar suspension setup (none are better than each other).

i so want to k swap my ES1 sedan...harness adapter, stock rsx engine mounts and WHAMMO you have a 7th generation civic that has the heart of an RSX type S. (albeit if you want sufficient brakes you still need to swap the rear drums and convert to disks from an acura EL, e-brake cable too) yeah, there are better chassis to go with...but i NEVER see built 01-05 civics in calgary. it's all 6th gen and under or 8th gen and up the 7th gen is the under-appreciated oddball. why have an RSX when a civic is 265 lbs. lighter?

+rocketsneakers Gotta be the teggy. I owned and absolutely loved my AP2 s200 but the one thing that kills it is EPS. Teggy's got good ol hydraulic power steering so surely there is much more feedback than the ass2000. Who knows they might have gotten rid of the assist all together for a manual rack. BECAUSE RACECAR!!!

Looks like fun. The Ferrari and Porsche probably let you pass because they didn’t want to take any risk with hitting a cars considering the value of a GT3.
