I was working with my Headunit and unplugged the harness that connects to the Passenger Airbag Off Light. I turned on the power without plugging the harness back in and it tripped the sensor, not letting it turn off. If you take the vehicle to Nissan, they will charge you a diagnostic fee as well a fee to reset the sensor. Could cost you upwards of $100. Resetting this takes less than 30 seconds.
You will see a flashing airbag light in the instrument cluster panel where all of your gauges are.
When you first turn the car on the airbag light in the instrument panel will stay solid for 7 seconds then start flashing.
As soon as it starts flashing immediately turn the car off.
Wait 5 seconds.
Turn car back on and watch for the passenger airbag light to start flashing again. (The light in the instrument panel).
Repeat that process three times altogether.
The fourth time you turn your car on the light will be reset!! No trip to the dealer necessary!! Hope this helped you guys!!!

I've had this issue for months with my 2012 Nissan Rogue. Was at my Nissan dealer and it was going to cost me $169 just to run a diagnostic -- but they were short-staffed and didn't have anyone who could perform the diagnostic. Ok but shouldn’t the passenger airbag off light stay lit up unless someone is sitting in front seat then it’s supposed to go out. But after doing this reset the passenger airbag off light stays off even when no1 is sitting in it meaning that the passenger airbags are on! So how do I reset passenger airbag off light so it stays on when no one is sitting in seat.

Hello, I’m sure that you’re not on here anymore but if you are, I’d love to help. I’ve tried multiple times to do this on my 2012 rogue and it has not done it. The funny thing is the flash keep slowing down and then disappears for about 5 to 6 seconds and it comes back again. I feel like it’s working but I’m missing Mike maybe just a little something. Maybe you can help me. Thank you so much.

My airbag will not turn off. I found out airbag switch is turned off. Where is airbag switch located.

Awesome worked on my 2005 Pathfinder! You explain the process well. I watched another video about the same thing and he didn't explain, that as soon as it flashes you have to turn it off or the car will never go into the diagnostic/ reset mode. Thanks again
omg...I asked them to reset it at oil change at Firestone, wanted to charge me like $30 just to put on computer. someone told me to look this up and Waala! can't thank you enough!
Bought my dads 2013 Nissan Frontier! Same issue. I was paranoid if we got into a wreck with my wife in the passenger seat the airbag wouldn’t go off and was about to go to auto zone to get a new sensor or something. This fixed it! Thank you so much!
Thanks India,had to replace climate control cluster,put power on before connecting the airbag cable,had flashing lite,your solution was exactly what was needed to get lite out!!!!!!

I had to remove and reinstall the front passenger seat which caused this light to come on. I had found the directions to fix the problem with chapGPT but it wasn't crystal clear on when to turn the switch and when to start counting. Your instructions were easy to follow and exactly what I needed. It worked. The light went off! Thank you.
