Pasar Chowrasta Market is the most famous market in Penang (well... maybe Air Itam market too due to the laksa and Air Itam tourist attractions!). The local produce such as pickled nutmeg and biscuits can easily be found here. The bus stop is designed to resemble the old trams that used to ply Penang.
There are usually 2 old timer chestnuts hawkers still using the traditional method to cook chestnuts (when the chestnut is properly cooked it will have a small crack) and they really taste better than those using the modern technique.
The market is located just a block away from the famous Teow Chew Chendul (Joo Hooi Cafe) with the Michelin Bib Gourmand Char Koay Teow by Jin Kor! Just next to the market is the famous Air Tingkap Sherbet and Jeruk Madu Pak Ali!
