Why does it hurt when we lose a beloved performer ? I was wondering this as I wiped away tears and binged on David Cassidy & Partridge Family vids after hearing the news. Never a diehard fan , never crossed my mind in 20 years! But I did grow up watching the Partridge Family, David's poster on my sister's wall and the his face adorning the Teen and Sweet 16 mags of the day. I think we lose a piece of our souls/hearts , a piece of our cherished childhood/teenaged memories, a piece of our youth! It reminds us of our own mortality and the years and decades that have slipped away. That's why I think it hurts and we grieve!

Charming. Gorgeous. Good actor. Supremely good singer. The best of the past 50 years. Who didn't dream of him and want to marry him? Yes, he died so suddenly, yet, at least he didn't suffer for years, losing himself. God bless you, sweet soul. I thank you and I love you.

Laura Stone, you nailed it lady. I know myself, I was a miserable 13 year old at that time and he was my only joy. My room was practically wallpapered with all of his pictures and all of his albums played on my record player. My fondest memory was when I got to see him in my first concert in 1972. I still think of it as one of the greatest days of my life. Watching old videos of him throughout the years, in his 40's and 50's, (and wow was he still hot) he seemed to just eat up the audiences. His love of performing shone through. I think us fans gave him joy, even if the media and his personal life did not.

Having been born in 1968, I grew up in the 80's, not the 70's. But you know what? You don't have to be a Baby Boomer to love David Cassidy. We Generation X-ers love him, too! I first saw The Partridge Family when I was a little girl in the mid-70's. The show had already been cancelled, and reruns were being shown on weekday afternoons. I remember seeing it for the first time and wondering who that cute boy was! When Nick At Nite began airing reruns of The Partridge Family back in 1993, I fell in love all over again. I saw David's EFX show in Las Vegas, and I've seen him in concert twice. The first time I saw him in concert, he sang "No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross," and when I held my hand out to him, he looked at me and took my hand in his. I just melted like butter! It's still hard to believe that David Cassidy is gone. He was so full of life! My heart goes out to his family and friends and everybody who loves him. I can honestly say that I know how Beau and Katie Cassidy feel. The loss of a parent is something I can relate to, since my own Dad passed away in April of this year after a long illness. As much as I miss David Cassidy, I miss my Dad even more. Like David, he was a great guy. My Mom is still living, and I'm so glad to still have her in my life. Love you, David! Love you too, Dad! I miss you both.

Jennings644 actually alcoholism took his life and caused the organ failure. I’m sure his liver was damaged beyond repair as alcohol damages the liver and caused cirrhosis which he also probably had. It’s a terminal illness with no cure. Only hope is a liver transplant. My boyfriend had the same thing and died from liver failure. I know all about life with an alcoholic and it’s not easy!!

He was so very talented. You are right! He didn't get the acclaim that he was due because his show and early music was not truly appreciated for how great it really was. He was kind of glossed over as a teen idol but he was so, so, so much more. Relistening to his songs and realizing how great they were and how spectacular his voice really was--teen idol aside. Although, it really is hard to separate his magnificent voice from his sexy face and body. Complete package. Nobody else even close.

I was there in the days that the Partridge family aired for the first time . My Mom used to call us kids in when she heard his song on the radio cause she knew we wanted to hear it every time it came on . We watched the show every week . Me and my brothers were in grade school at the time and David was the king to us as little kids . Very sad to hear this news .

As someone quoted in this comment David Cassidy was back when I was young many happy memories I share my sister and I got to see him at Club Benet in Perth Amboy New Jersey it was a happy time for her because she was healthy then I lost her in 2003 but I know that she's in heaven with such greats as Siegfried and Roy and other celebrities and people who have passed I know I'm not the only one who lost someone that I cared about I sure. A lot of other people have to and they share about David Cassidy I agree he was very handsome and very talented and he will be missed rest in peace David I know it's been awhile since you passed away but I hope that you are happy in heaven I know you're looking down and keeping your family safe as my family is looking down and keeping me safe my best to everyone out there I hope that everyone is doing great and enjoying the beautiful weather please be safe Wherever You Are

David Cassidy had an amazing voice and at one time he was as big as Elvis and the Beatles! His father Jack Cassidy was an accomplished actor and David seemed to follow in his dad’s footsteps of his own acting skills playing Keith Partridge.
