Parthian Empire Vs Romans: Battle of Carrhae 53 BC | Cinematic

Ойындар

#TotalWarRomeII #Cinematic #Rome
The Battle of Carrhae was fought in 53 BC between the Roman Republic and the Parthian Empire near the ancient town of Carrhae. An invading force of seven legions of Roman heavy infantry under Marcus Licinius Crassus was lured into the desert and decisively defeated by a mixed cavalry army of heavy cataphracts and light horse archers led by the Parthian general Surena. On such flat terrain, the Legion proved to have no viable tactics against the highly-mobile Parthian horsemen, and the slow and vulnerable Roman formations were surrounded, exhausted by constant attacks, and eventually crushed

Battle of Carrhae was a terrible defeat for the Romans where an army of 1/3rd the size annihilated them. Crassus himself was captured and made to drink molten gold, a fitting end for the richest nan in Rome. This was the same Crassus that defeated Spartacus and crucified 5000 of his soldiers along the Appiab Way to Rome. Perhaps it was fitting that he met an equally awful death. The Parthians were the one enemy that Rome could never defeat, even under the great emperor and general Trajan.

It is my understanding that Publius Crasuss led the charge of near 5000 Roman calvary, and the Parthian's destroyed them all. Then, one of the Parthian's rode around the Roman's formation with Publius' head on a spear.

Is. The name of the king of Medes is Azhdar_Agha and the name of his daughter Mand_Ana Pars : Fars , Shiraz , Pasargadae The name of the king of Pars is Hekhamenesh and his son is Kambyz Mandana marries Kambyz and goes to Pars, a group of Mandana's family and relatives also go to Pars with her and live there until today (il Qashqai or Kashkai) These two have a child named Cyrus who establishes the Achaemenid Empire Part : khorasan, Sistan & Beluchestan A few years after the fall of the Achaemenids by Alexander, the Parthians led by Arshak or Arkash (Arash) fight the Romans and establish the Parthian Empire of Iran.

The Battle of Carrhes is one of the most famous defeats in Roman history. However, it had little impact on the Roman presence in the East and its importance can be explained above all by the place it occupied in collective memory. Why did the Romans consider the defeat a disaster for their honor? In fact, the battle must be distinguished from its place in Roman tradition. In order to avenge the defeat, Augustus invented the disaster of Carrhes by giving it a meaning that the battle did not have before. At this time, the Parthians suddenly appeared in the Roman imagination as formidable enemies. During and after the reign of Augustus, the Romans made the Battle of Carrhes an exemplary event but were not always able to learn the lessons of their failure.

Carrhae was won by superior logistics and TECHNOLOGY (yes IRANIAN heavy cataphracts, bows and armor-piercing arrows were superior to European); the slave-crucifying Roman billionnaire Crassus had to die drinking molten gold. And YES, Carrhae was the most crushing Roman defeat ever, only 10,000 Iranians (!) massacred and demoralized 40,000 Romans (in contrast, Teutoburg was evenly matched, with German tribals relying on brute force). Parthians, Achaemenids, Scythian, Sassanids, Median, Safavids, .. all Iranian (we say "Persian") dynasties, all the very same great Iranian Empire that we Westerners still shamefully refuse to acknowledge, even today in 2023 AD. Where are the movies about the amazing Iranian Empire?? Iran, the origin of Human Rights and cultural and religious freedom, is an epic all-time titan of human civilization. Respect to IRAN!!

It's a miss opportunity that you should show more Cataphract charging scene rather than the Roman to show that how terrifying it is to face these full armoured metal horseman where Roman never fight before. I'm saying this is because the Parthia Cataphract is too underrated today despite it being the only heavy armour cavalry in ancient world. Maybe you can help bring more light to these wonderful metal horseman

The Parthian cataphracts actually weren't used much in this battle because they were outnumbered over 40-1 in close combat Instead, Surena used them to provoke Romans into breaking their defensive position by themselves and chase after them not to win the fight or break through They were shock troops and actually good at close fighting but 1,000 cataphracts charging straight toward 35,000 heavy infantry with the intention to brake their line is nothing but suicide and foolishness

Exactly the Roman’s weren’t used to these kind of fighting. They literally shot arrows at them till the sun went down. Camels were used to supply the archers. Parthia knew if they go toe to toe with Rome the legions would grind them down.
