I used to work at a Datsun/Vauxhall (GM UK) dealer workshop as a panel beater in the late 70's , the only 240Z I saw was a gold rot box we used to look after a rental 240KGT a few Cedric's came through our workshop , know one wanted the big cars as the fuel crisis was still in full swing , I think every Datsun I worked on even brand new I must have snapped a bolt taking it apart , I remember a few very rotten cars I had to fix a 100A MK2 front end smash that fell to bits when I jigged it the insurance company insisted on fixing it had to do loads of patching to make it roadworthy and a 180B estate that had been Ziebarted from new and was completely rotten and the owner had hand painted very badly , but most owners loved their cars , your repairs are looking good .

That's why you use the correct primers and sealers being careful not to leave bare steel. There will be times that you can't coat the inside that's when you use a cavity wax gun.

@@Paul_Tomlin You’re right but they’re not... spray can primer will not cut it, besides early Datsun stampings were made from a very poor quality steel... so even if you were to electro-dip the car with a galvanizing coating, it will still eventually rot through...

The thing is that after such restoration this Datsun won't probably be driven in wet conditions. So many hours spent on it, it won't be daily driver.

@@JuuS0 Even still, fatal oxidizing will continue due to the inferior metallurgy processes they used back then ... that’s why early Datsun’s don’t fair well at auctions
