    Thank you to everyone who has viewed and commented on this series. This was my first Sambar trip and firmly believe that it was successful only due to the correct planning and logistics that went into an interstate hunting trip. Proper planning certainly made for a very rewarding, stress free and safe trip and would recommend to all to just get out there ..... whether it be hunting, fishing, camping or any pastime that involves spending time away from the daily grind and city life!. Cheers to all. www.huntfishgrow.com.au

    What an epic video series. Thanks guys. During this whole time, I've been wondering, how much did it cost to get all meat back to Perth? Assuming that your team's farthest state is Perth. It might've cost you a hind leg or two. I'd love to see more videos like this.

    forty5degrees thanks mate! And cheers for watching. Glad you enjoyed the series. We packed the meat into eskies and flew it back on Virgin. They only let you take 20kgs on plane but also froze and shipped back on air freight courier. Was still frozen when I got it back next day. Used gel filled ice packs to keep frozen. Did another trip couple of months back to NZ chasing fallow. Is a two part series on the channel if ya interested.

    Charles Bawden I had absolutely no issues with virgin travelling with firearms. I called ahead to see if there was anything that I needed to cover off but both flights simply stated just turn up and it will be managed at the airport. You need to ensure that your Rifle is in a lockable case and that Ammo is stored in a seperate lockable case and in your checked in luggage. Ground staff at check in will talk you through checking in. Is super simple. You’ll get an additional tag that needs to be shown to oversize baggage collection when collecting at other end As far as License goes out Check www.gma.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/317249/Application-for-a-Game-Licence- General-v19-1.pdf Get in early as they can take a while to be issued. Unless tour hunting with hounds, you only need the deer stalking license. Happy to help out in any way mate. Can’t wait to her how your trip goes!

    Crazy Fish Hunt Films legend. Thanks mate, much appreciated. Also enjoyed your video on the kit you took. Is there anything you’d change in terms of what you took vs what you’d change out?

    Charles Bawden depending on the time of year have quality clothing and boots! I took 2 pairs of compression thermals, one always stayed dry for when back in camp and for sleeping during the cold nights. The sock liners were also really great for stemming moisture and adding additional padding for long days on your feet. For me, comfort is king and I had the small hiking tent I took was excellent for base camp set up but if your moving every day, a stony creek fly does the trick. There’s not too much that I wouldn’t take next time but would look to ditching the little stretcher and using a good quality air inflatable mattress, wouldn’t bother with the crocks for river crossings and would upgrade my wet weather gear. The Spika jacket kept me warm but in the big downpours, the water heavily absorbed into the lower part of the jacket and pocket areas. I’ve also bought a telescopic walking pole with gun rest for my next trip. It would have been really handy when packing the deer out in some of the steep and slippery terrain. The Garmin InReach was without a doubt one of the best pieces of kit that I have given its versatility and am looking at spotting scopes and a little tripod now for the hours spent glassing, but not essential. Take plenty of thick rubber bands and zip lock bags and zip ties.. I found tonnes of uses for these. Also take a miniature tool set for in field repairs or adjustments you may need to rifle or scope as once you’re out there it’s very difficult to carry out any type of repair work. Leather man Wave with bit attachments came in really handy. Have upgraded my pack to a Tetonka 75ltr Bison as opposed to the 45ltr Spika pack. Way more stable and very light. Make sure you have a thorough but compact medical kit with at least two compression bandages. We came across a few snakes. I wore my gaiters every single day which were great also for water crossings and keeping your lower legs dry from the wet undergrowth. I also found the flip up scope covers really great for keeping the lenses clean and free of moisture/rain. Virgin allows 20kgs of meat back into WA. I bought a cheap esky from Bunnings and duct taped the hell out of it to bring back. Also bought the antlers and skull cap back in a seperate suitcase the I bought from Kmart in Melbourne prior to coming home. Just make sure you wrap it all up with your clothes or something. Virgin had no issues with that. Some guys will attach them to their packs on the outside and then at Melbourne airport there is a shrink wrap facility where they will wrap up the entire package prior to luggage check in. Take plenty of batteries or a decent power bank to keep your electronics charged and/or a small solar panel. I have a goal zero one that works really well for my cameras, GPS and two way radio. Most of all try and be a minimalist. It’s is surprising to thing what you actually don’t need!

    What a awesome hunting trip I really enjoyed it. Well done to you and the guys with you that made this video great. Just one question:what tape were you using on the end of your rifle and what was it for. Cheers.

  • @crazyfishhuntfilms7184

    @crazyfishhuntfilms7184

    DiggerMel thanks for your kind comment and glad you liked the videos.... the tape is just simply normal electrical tape wrapped around the end of the barrel to stop foreign objects entering it as we were traversing through thick bush etc. The percussion from the compression of air in the barrel when a round is fired simply blows the tape out and doesn’t effect accuracy. I’ve tested this at the range and seems to work fine.
