Part 4 - 2015+ Mustang Audio Upgrade - Rear Deck Speaker Install

In this video I install the Focal RCX 165 set in the rear deck of the Mustang. It's pretty easy if you do things in the correct order. You will need a 7mm shallow socket and ratchet (1/4" swivel is best), panel removal tool, and a #2 phillips screwdriver.
Tips:
1.) To remove rear bottom seat push the two tabs on both sides then pull seat up.

very nice I'm glad you used the adapter rings so many of the other guys making videos on mustang rear speaker just take the factory speakers and butcher them up and use them for adapters. it's nice to see someone doing it the right way😎

My base model mustang gt came with the 6 speakers and wanted to upgrade the speakers and install a amp and sub to it. But man, watching your video, I didn't know so many panels and trims need to be taken off. I hate taking off the trim, and panels b/c there is always one or two that never go back in the same way. Hopefully they'll make bluetooth amplifiers pretty soon. Thanks for the video.

I agree. I just need to know if the wiring for the factory B&O sub is in the trunk even though I don't have it, but it is the premium Mustang

Hey. Great video but i have one question. I have a 2017 mustang with 6 speakers. Do i have to us an amp or is it just plug and play on the rear ones. I’ll use the same speakers as you did. Thank you.

this is one thing i noticed is the rear speakers even upgraded... i dont know why but my rear speakers sound quite... i installed speaker baffles to try to help improve the sound but when i installed the baffles it helped some but it didnt make mind blowing difference. so im not really sure why the rear speakers dont put out as much sound compared to the front. the only other thing i can think of is they need a amp ran to them... im not really sure what else to do,

How do these speakers compare to JL C2-650x? Was hoping to use an alpine 45x4 behind radio. I have some hertz HCX 165s but really don't wanna run all wiring for a larger 100x4 amp.

Great instructional videos! Well done! I have the 9 speaker Kicker system in my GT and I want to upgrade to Focal speakers too. What do you recommend for the three 3.5" speakers in the doors and in the dash just above the instrument cluster? Does Focal have a good drop in replacement for those? I was thinking the Focal 165 AS3 ACCESS 6.5″ 3-WAY component system, but the midrange speakers are 4" and not 3.5", so I'm worried about fitment issues.

I purchased mine from crutchfield.com. You can use their online tool to find the adapters for your car. I think if you buy the speakers from them the adapters and wiring harness are free. You can always use the tool, get the part #, and shop around too.

Absolutely ! Trace the pattern where you want them mounted. Carefully cut the metal with tin snips. Allow for proper fitment, holes to be drilled, and wiring.

I have nothing against solder. However, one who uses the word Useless to describe a mechanical slip on connector needs to rip the fuse box from his/her car and throw it in the trash. Because obviously, every automobile’s fuse box is Useless. I raise a tinned soldering tip to you good sir and say happy soldering.
