I really do appreciate these tutorials. I tried getting into blender a couple months ago and the other tutorials I found weren't as engaging, I could only follow each part step by step without actually knowing how to apply these tools elsewhere. With your tutorials I'm able to learn a lot more so much so that I'm able to ignore your instructions in some segments of your video and find my own way to reach the desired goal.

This is much better than any other tutorial I've watched. On all the other tutorials I didn't actually learn anything. I started watching this on part 3 and I didn't watch the other ones and I still knew what to do. Everything about this made it very intuitive and well-made. I've been struggling with learning blender for the last week since I just got it and this actually made me understand the program. I'm glad I found this. I was a little hesitant going into this video because of the view count and such, however it deserves way more views than the other tutorials out there. Dropped a sub.

A much easier way to merge the coplanar vertices around 25:45, is to select them and hit the Delete key and choose 'Limited Dissolve'. This will merge any vertices that lie on the same plane. It lets you clean up both sides of the roof in just one click.

Dude I’m a complete beginner, like I haven’t even downloaded the program yet and have zero experience in any of this stuff, just know my way around a pc well. Your tutorial is by far the best I’ve seen. I like to understand what I’m doing and why I’m doing it because it’s the easiest way for me to learn, as opposed to just following directions. I understand everything you’re doing and as you start repeating some of the steps I can easily remember what goes next because you’ve broken it down so well and explained what everything means/does. Programs like these are so intimidating to learn because of how complex the tools are to total beginners like myself but this makes it so easy to understand and follow. I’m excited to get started soon! Thank you!

As an experienced(but very rusty) Blender user, I have to say that this one of the best beginner tutorials. I have just started and will recommend this to my nephew who is interested in 3D graphics. @Ryan King Art : An easier way to get rid of edge loops is to press delete/x and select edge loops at the bottom of the menu. Super tutorial.. I'm amazed at how much I'm able to do with just the things I learned in this video :) Just one thing that I'm not sure was clear, though. I was having trouble replicating the mirror effect, Ryan made it look so easy! It turns out that each object has its own origin point within it (little orange dot), and that's what it mirrors on, which is why he cut the box in half, so that the origin point was on that edge. So the way I fixed it is to go into edit mode, select all vertices, move them over so the dot is where you want to mirror, then go back into object mode and add the mirror modifier. Put the point outside and you can do cool things like make twin meshes!

New Subscriber, and Blender user. So far so good. I do take a lot more time on tutorials than most people and expand within. For instance, I followed your tutorial to a T. Then stopped at the roof adding section of this video, and having a good grasp from your last video on modes, view port controls, and hotkeys, expanded on the house. Starting with the Units. I need a more realistic setting to place things within house, and helping to Standardize the Graphics, animations, resolutions, and all other things considered. For those curios about Units, and how to change them. Units are listed under the Scene tab in your Editor Tabs on the Right side of the view port, as of Blender 4.1 Scene Tab is located five down from the very top of the Editor Tabs, Saying you've added none, nor changed the order since using Blender. Units is located within Scene's Tab, You may select Imperial, Metric, or none, standard choice wise. I'm sure there are conversion editors that can be implemented, or even referencing the conversions yourself, converting the result you desire from say a yod, to feet, or meters, then just applying your converted values. Most geometries your only going to need 2 or 3 reference values to get a baseline. Anyway this is useful to me since I will be using this scene for cinematics in a project I'll be endeavoring. So I need, For human readability, and Graphics conversion standard for other things listed above to keep in mind resolution, Graphics Quality, Scaling, Conversions, ect. I'll probably smash many of Ryan King's tutorials into this file, lol. Great work, and professional. You could run a show your work event on your channel. Just an idea brother, keep up the awesome job.

I must confess, as a beginner, I'm glad I came across this video. I'm learning rapidly. Please I do have a question: on trying to delete the door face, I find out mine also deletes the back side too leaving a door open behind too. How do I handle this?

This tutorial is great, thank you. Is there a trick to get things to move where you want them to go? I tried the right click center cursor, but I seem to always misjudge where in space and time that thing is, and it will end up in the middle of the house. I'm having trouble placing the window crosses in the actual windows, and my house looks like it belongs in some cursed cemetary with the crosses sticking out lolol HALP

KZread needs to create some 'essential videos' feature, where if someone is trying to learn something, the videos that do it best are always at the top-like this channel. Ofc I wouldn't want to deprive smaller youtubers, I plan to have my own prof channel (unrelated content) too some day, but still I would've learned Blender much better if I saw your vids first instead of others and I wouldn't have lost interest in Blender because I didn't know how to use it properly. Anyways, continuing to enjoy your vids and practicing as the same time so I pick up the skills. So thanks again Ryan for your amazing work.

Ryan King you literally are on the best teachers on KZread for Blender. I've just gotten my start and i've learned Premiere,Lightroom, After Effects, PhotoShop, Logic Pro X & Final Cut Pro. Blender thus far is the most difficult program i've ever learned. Thank you so much for going step by step. For people starting out these step by step instructions are so crucial for learning this software and dealing with the incredible amount of little beginner moments that are tricky at first. you are doing the world a service! Thanks! One quick question I wanted to ask you is if there is a way that you constantly are aware of whether we are on the X,Y, or Z axis? is there a way to know that by referencing something on screen or is that intuitive to you at this point?

  • @RyanKingArt

Thanks Evan! I appreciate the comment! Yes, When your on the X Axis, the line is Red. on the Y Axis, the line is Green, and the Z Axis is Blue. So you can know what axis your on by the colors.

Hi I'm following your videos to learn the blender program. I have a question. As you have mentioned. once I separated the roof , the roof can not be selected again please let me know why this happens (24.28)? and again I'm unable to extend the roof leaning by using scale (S). it always try to move all the other directions but not to my required direction to increase the length (27.40).
