Those marks on the chain is for installation purposes only.. It will take so so amount of revolution for the marks to realigned perfectly again. Good video though 👌 👍 👏.

When the gears are in the proper position and you install the chain with the colored links in position, you're good. Once you turn the engine the marked links will no longer line up. You would have to turn the engine about 130 times for this to happen.

I don't think you've got it right. I'm not sure the red link at the bottom is supposed to line up at the center bottom. There is a tooth with a pin mark where the bottom link should be aligned. Then the marks on the two upper gears should line up with their colored links. What is needed for those with chains that are unmarked or in the wrong position, and how only have the top open, is to see a engine the is correctly chain aligned and then set exactly at TDC. Then a square-on picture of how the marked gears align to screw holes, head seam, etc is what is needed to insure their engies are set up correctly (like mine :-)

It takes about 100 or more revolutions to get those marks back in the correct spot, but it’s only necessary for installation purposes.

100 or more? my timing chain marks can repeat while turning crank shaft about 5 turns, the balance shaft mark could go back as well. but the balance shaft marks looks never come back with my timing chain marks at same time. It does mean it is right?

The bottom chain is for the balance or shaft assembly ...the oil pump is part of the timing cover

Every video ive seen says you have to take the oil pan off to do this in car, you just show the oil pain cover? Im confused. This is for a 2002 to 2006 2.5s right?

So I removed the timing tensioner without pushing the pin in & the spring and cap fell down behind the cover. Is there any easy way to fish out the pieces without removing the entire timing cover??

Im having trouble with the oil strainer sliding up past the oil pump casing, (bottom of it anyway). The bottom of the strainer where the bolt secures it normally is jamming up beside pump housing/ casing what have you, no matter which direction or how far out I can get the rest of the timing cover. Have you ever know anyone to have to remove pump to get cover off?

Do not follow this video for chain alignment; it is incorrect. Refer to the service manual.

There is no way the procedure will work in the car…. And I’m confident you have no idea what your talking about because the second chain drives the balance shafts and not the oil pump. The oil pump is what you had problems getting out the upper oil pan

I did my head gasket and timing belt on my 05 Altima, you can do this with out lifting the engine out of the engine bay, is a really nightmare and you gonna need a lot of time to get it done

Do not follow this video for disassembly instructions. It's standard practise to replace both chains at once - the timing chain and the balance chain. As per the service manual, remove the oil pan lower and upper assembies and the oil pickup BEFORE removing the timing cover - this avoids the need for strange manoeuvering of the timing cover to get it free of the oil pickup. AND THE TIMING CHAIN ALIGNMENT>>>...WTF!!?!?! WROOOONG. You will blow up your engine if you follow these instructions!
