PART 2 *IN CAB* FENDT 1050 ploughing (IN) headlands KVERNELAND RW100

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

PART 2
This is showing just ONE of many ways to plough a headland with a large wagon style plough.
This time around im ploughing in, something i do which isnt shown in the video is a method were by i leave 4 headlands when also ploughing "in" instead of the "c" shape i used in this particualr field.
this subject is obviuosly a minefeild with a million diffrent methods and a million diffrent reasons for doing it how we do.
i cannot possibly cover the whole subject in one video

    Don't worry about not being an "expert" ploughman mate, you're doing ok in my book. I'm a retired ploughman, did all my agri work before GPS with 7000, TW35, 4755 etc. The largest plough i used was 6 furrows fully mounted when i was a demonstrator. Wouldn't mind a crack with some modern machinery these days. Keep up the good work bud.

I got about 20 acres done this morning but wasn't really feeling it mate so gave up and went home at about 2pm. A pro I'm not but it gets turned and there's a seed bed and been doing it for more years then I care to say and we always get good crops. • @Jonny1388

    @Jonny1388

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks George! Your right about the beach! It's some extremely light land at the top end of that field, not the easiest of stuff to plough, it like to bulldoze instead of turnover. But the field next door is nothing but some seriously stiff red clay...amazing how quickly the soil types change in a small area.

I would love to have known his secrets about what it takes to be a great ploughman! I bet they are some lovely photographs, seeing him full of pride and happy. Thanks for sharing that with me my mate, what a wonderful comment to read. I wonder what he would think to today's technology, though I'm sure he could still show me how to do it on my fendt and the big plough, we're still doing the same job he did with a horse, just bigger and faster.

    How’s it going Jonny, love watching your ploughing vids, I’ve been ploughing 25 years, but only 4 years with an RW, 5+3, no press, and 936, and have surprisingly been 100% converted to a semi, I find being able to lower or raise the front middle and back independently is a god send, especially on “scoots” as we call them down here in Norfolk😁 so from one modest ploughman to another (I’m always learning) you’ve got that spot on.. and I’m chuffed you do the same as I do...

  • @Jonny1388

    @Jonny1388

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Neil! That's like music to my ears (or words to my eyes) to see you do the same thing as myself, especially after 25yrs of ploughing. It was a steep learning curve for myself as this is the first semi mounted/wagon plough the farm has bought. They always used to run multiple smaller fully mounted ploughs, so when the RW turned up I had nobody to ask for advice or tips. It was a "just get on with it" sort of affair. Had half a day with Roger from kverneland getting it all set/built up and was let loose, and I'm learning each and every single day. I'm constantly trying to tweak the way I do things and experiment, I'm not ashamed to admit I don't know everything, I just thoroughly enjoying using it and take a lot of pride in my work, which sounds exactly Iike yourself!? So it really is great to hear someone with 25yrs experience say what you just said. Completely agree about the "scoots" you have sooooo much more control over what your doing having 3 different lower/raise points on the plough. Thanks ever so much for the comment Neil, great to hear from you! Take care my mate

    That looked pretty damn good to me. Using the head cam was the best way to show it. Only slight criticism is I wish you'd set the tripod in part one the other side of the plough when you started. How many acres a year does the farm plough? I'm surprised the farm doesn't have a smaller fully mounted plough for the headlands but I suppose if it's not many fields there's not much point in having another plough even if it was a decent second hand one. You do make some fantastic film's. It's a shame Chris wasn't there for the headlands and some unedited close ups showing the corners in full. Hope you're gap is healing up, was funny at the beginning but I'm sorry for laughing. I'm a bleeder and have spent several weeks in hospital with teeth problems over the years particularly when I was a kid. See you on the next one, look forward to it.

    If you do it like that Geoff then at least I know I'm doing it right!! 😀 I'll keep a look out for you next vids and I'll make sure i send people your way so they can see how it's done. Especially because your set up is similar to ones that people might see around the country, so it would give them a great idea of what that tractor and driver is actually doing as they drive past, and why it's not as easy as it looks! 🙂

    @@Jonny1388 thank you very much. Iam not saying how I plough is the right way, its just the things I've picked up over the years to make the job easier and make a better job. Some days it's just doesn't go as you want it to no matter what you try

    Thanks dale!! It's getting there now, still a big hole in the old jaw bone but not as painful! 🙂 For our land slats are by far the best option, it's sticky, light peaty soil. You cannot keep the boards clean on solids and they will just bulldoze soil instead of turning it over. They can be a ploughman's worst nightmare here. Solid bodies are great for stronger land
