Awesome video, very informative. Would love to see the video of the front part. I really like how light weight that setup looks. Usually people use alot of ply and thick wood but it is not needed. The frame idea is smart

Thanks for the inspiration. I modified by going narrower with the rear platform but put 1/4 inch slide outs under it that serve as both shims for leveling the 1/2 inch plywood top and side wings for making the sleeping surface wider but the sides usable as storage space when traveling . Did the same at the top for the head/pillow platform. Made the front bins 20” wide each, the top 27” wide with cutouts to reach door handle and clear the seat back anchors. Not sure how to link, but I just threw up a video overview of the outcome.

I just bought a 2010 Xterra, I've been wanting to do something exactly like this. If you ever come to the Dallas area lunch or dinner on me.

Would you be willing to put some pictures to the design blueprints? I really like the use of space that you used.

Thinking it was 350 with materials including paint and screws and hinges. Could be cheaper if you have some stuff laying around.

Good idea, looks like it works good for you. Curious why did you choose to use solid wood instead of plywood? I would think plywood is going to end up being cheaper and lighter than solid wood. Any reason why you went this route?

There's certainly room to use more plywood than what I did. Generally speaking, I wanted it to be overbuilt, so that was the main reason I leaned into the solid wood. Also, I did not want to drill into the side of plywood.

the head rest back set , did you add it or comes like that with high head rest?

Mine came like that. My previous X had the shorter versions. I'm not sure how Nissan decides which models to put high head rests in the back.
