Parrot Bebop 2, max speed test with GPS overlay, max Altitude and ReturnToHome

First flight with Parrot Bebop 2 with GPS overlay, testing max speed and max altitude
GPS overlay is created with FlightData Manager tool, which can be downloaded here:
sites.google.com/site/pud2gpx...
In this video I also used the ReturnToHome function.
After flying around for a while I actually lost track of where the drone was and which way I should turn it to fly it back home, so at timestamp 05:45 I presset RTH, the drone rotates fairly quickly at my direction and starts to fly back to me. At timestamp 06:14 I realize where the drone is again and takes over the control again and continues my flight.

    The video quality remains an issue with Bebop 2 - while it is fine for viewing on a tablet, the pixellation and general quality drops dramatically when viewing on a desktop. Don't expect to make professional movie clips. The biggest benefit of this drone is its ease of use and it is fun to fly, quick to start up and very stable in the wind. I have crashed mine 23 times and it just keeps going.

    I notice that the overlay data is inaccurate. The pitch overs 30 degree which is impossible due to Freeflight allows you to set the max at 30 degree. Even your drone had a moment at stay still. It displays as 30' degree too. If the data is gathered by GPS then it has an inaccuracy problem. For the speed, it has problem too. While you were stay still and rotating the drone. It displays as 35km/hr..... Those values seems to have ~+10% - +20% margin higher than normal the video indicates it physically should have.

  • @kenthjensen5980

    @kenthjensen5980

    8 жыл бұрын

    +solaris8x86 On the Bebop2 the max inclination angle is 35 degrees, therefore the pitch is close to 35 degrees when flying at full speed. The pitch value is not calculated from GPS positions, they come directly from the drone itself, and in there it should be based on measurements from it's own sensors. At what timestamp do you believe there is a problem with the pitch and speed? I haven't spotted it.

  • @solaris8x86

    @solaris8x86

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Kenth Jensen Please check 3:07 - 3:15 that rotation. It shows 33.9km/hr. Well, it did not moving any forward at all in those seconds. Just yawing.

  • @kenthjensen5980

    @kenthjensen5980

    8 жыл бұрын

    +solaris8x86 It is actually flying at that speed between these timestamps even though it looks like it's just hovering. Check the small dot at the flight path at the upper left corner between these timestamps, then you can see that the drone is actually moving

  • @solaris8x86

    @solaris8x86

    8 жыл бұрын

    I doubt, You just flew around 200 meter range. If it was moving at 30km/hr... it is unbelievable it cannot be noticed thru the video...

  • @kenthjensen5980

    @kenthjensen5980

    8 жыл бұрын

    +solaris8x86 I don't see the reason for that we are having this discussion at all. But nevertheless, here we go. At timestamp 3:07 the distance flown is 1890 meter At timestamp 3:15 the distance flown is 1965 meter So in total it has been flying 75 m at 8 seconds in that timeframe where you think the drone haven't moved at all. The speed is approximately 33 km/h in this timeframe, which is 9,16 m/s. if you fly at 9,16 m/s for 8 seconds, you will end up flying 73,3 meter, which is very close to the 75 meter. The 75 meters flown is done in a circle, or actually a half circle, (can be seen on the flight path in upper left corner), which means it is a circle with a circumference of 150 meter, which again can be calculated to a radius of 23,8 meter. So the fact is that the drone is flying in a circle with a radius of 24 meter at an altitude of 150 meters, therefore it will be very hard to see if the drone is moving or only rotating. Both the speed, the flight path and the pitch of the drone is indicating clearly that the drone is flying forward, and everything actually adds up, so I really don't see any reason that it should not be moving forward.
