Fantastic vid gents! I bought a sky controller 1 off gumtree and realised when i got home that the cables between the controller and ariel are missing! I have no idea how or where to get them. I was thinking of selling it as spares or repair and getting the sky controller 2

Thanks for the kind comments, I do not 100% percent know the answer to your question but I imagine its a compatibility issue between the versions, I would suggest updating the firmware on your sky controller and if that does not work contact parrot directly. Thanks

Well when I bought my Bebop 2 I found that not only would the battery in the Sky Controlled 2 not hold a charge, but had an obsolete battery in it which could not be replaced. Parrot told me they would replace the controller with one that had the new style battery. That was over a month ago. Finally they told me to send them my old controller and they would replace it, that was two weeks and two phone calls ago, and I still have heard nothing and I have no controller at all. Might be a good drone as long as you don't trouble with it.

I bought the Bebop 2 with the FPV Pack, and am thinking of getting some different goggles to go with the drone instead of the parrot supplied one. I noticed on the new Skycontroller 2 there is no HDMI port, just USB. If I were to get an hdmi to udb cable and get, say, a pair of fatshark goggles, would it work? I have no idea why in their new upgraded controller they would remove the HDMI port

Any luck getting the cinemizers connected to the skycontroller 2?

really need to know if the controller works wirelessly just using the controller and phone together like the original skycontroller. be a shame if the wire is needed. but fair enough for the fpv glasses

Have you ever loss one or more of your propellers on your bebop 2 drone? I HAVE SEVERAL TIME! Usually on a hard landing. It is frustrating and shouldn't happen but it does. Well here is the product that is a solution to preventing that from happening again. These Bebop 2 Propeller Plugs are easy to install and works great. Just using your figures, mainly your tum, press Bebop 2 Propeller Plugs into the larger propeller holes. They lock the propellers in place and will not let them unlock. I haven't loss a propeller since installing the Bebop 2 Propeller Plugs. You can find them on ebay, just search for “bebop 2 propeller plug”.

Hey Jamie, John, Great flying. I have been studying this drone and the many videos that go with it. i originally was turned off by the drone by the GIANT controller, I see Parrot improved that finally. I am writing to ask if you would recommend this drone for use in the filming of a TV series that we begin principal photography on in March. The series will be filmed in Central America and the crew will be travelling overland through countries. We need to keep the portability in mind. The productions cameras will be shooting in 1080P so we do not need a 4k drone. We mainly want the drone for opening aerial shots of a location from a wide angle (like sliding along the coast of an island at sunrise) for the opening of segments. the drone will not be used all day every day. We have 35 locations so it will get some good use. I like how it appears the drone is stabilized without the use of an external gimbal, but I also noticed in a couple videos what looks like a wavy shimmering effect. Would you recommend this drone for our production. We looked at higher end drones but the truth is we do not need all the features and we have spent a lot of money on this production already. Shooting with a drone was an added idea to improve the cinematography of our episodes! It would appear the wind doesnt seem to push this thing around alot either. Curious of your thoughts.

Hi Jason, it is very good at recording not sure it its good enough for TV but its very stable, the shimmering is actually the blades of the drone that can be caught in the video if you move the camera to far in one direction. It does handle well in the wind and the digital gimbal makes it almost undetectable on playback. Mi experiencia con el parrot bebop 2 son las siguientes: 1- Controlado con un iphone 5s y un control Nimbus va terrible la señal se corta a 10 mts, todo lo contrario cuando lo controlas con un ipad y el Nimbus lo he volado a una distancia de 200 mts sin obstáculos, y una altitud maxima algo mas de 200 pies, 60 mts. 2- Con el control de Nimbus conectado al bluetooth del ipad tienes un control de maravilla, sin retraso alguno, y la duración de la bateria es mas o menos de 3 horas. (los puntos negativos a mi parecer : 1- Si te alejas 10 mts del ipad pierde la conexión del bluetooth, y es algo incomodo tomar el control y el ipad porque no tiene base para sostenerlo.) 3- Manejarlo solo con el iphone o el ipad no tiene comparación a realizarlo con un control, sea este el de parrot o uno como el Nimbus. Es demasiado incomodo manejarlo directo desde la pantalla. 4- De resto y sobre todo con la ultima actualización del FreeFlightPro con el follow me, la buena imagen a 1080 que te da, la estabilidad que tiene, para mi es uno de los mejores drones de gama media del mercado. Comprare pronto el Mavic de DJI por su autonomia de vuelo y su tecnologia, pero me quedare con el bebop 2.

Thanks for your comments, we use free flight pro, I have been tempted to use AR Pro as I have read good things but I have also read from a few sources that the return to home feature doesn't always work and people have lost there drones so been a bit scared to try really.

I think the sony cinemizers are the best but they are expensive and you can only get on ebay now plus you need the version with the HDMI input otherwise I would just get the FPV pack.

I just saw parrot having some serious black Friday deals on their site.... deal on bebop 2 with fpv and sky controller 2 package for $499 cad and also bebop 2 and black edition sky controller for $449. Without the option for opening a contender, which package would u opt for?

Well it depends on what you are personally want, the black edition controller is big and heavy but comes with a HDMI out so you can use FPV glasses, it also has a hud to cover your phone or tablet so you wont get sun glare. On the other hand the sky controller 2 is small, lightweight and great just to get the parrot in the air, however I would only attach my phone to this and not a tablet as it would make it awkward to use, screen glare would also be an issue on a sunny day. One last point is you can use use the FPV googles with the sc2.

Does the skycontroller 2 give the same range/distance as the original skycontroller? Also is there any lag with the video feed to the smartphone when the drone reaches further distances?

It does yes, I didn't notice any lag however the further you go out the more breakups you get and eventually loss of signal all together, luckily the return to home feature gives you piece of mind.

The range always depends on the surroundings, the furthest we have managed to get it to go before losing signal is 900 metres, but I believe it can go further as we have always had lots of trees nearby - its suppose to do upto 2km.

Nice video!I did buy this pack but hasn t tried it yet. It will replace my old AR 2.0...A question for you: Looking at many videos on KZread, it seems that with the Skycontroller 1, it was possible to control the camera on the vertical axis AND on the horizontal axis with the right joystick. The little Wheel on the back left of the Skycontroller 2 allows only to modify the camera pointing direction on the vertical axis... Did we lose the horizontal axis capability with the Skycontroller 2??Cheers!

Stephane Lefebvre IMO I doubt there is a horizontal axis steering it's pointless as drones don't theoretically even need to turn you can fly just with left right forward backwards up down and leave "rotation" so flying sideways is a basically the axis for camera you are more missing eg up down is left toggle left roller brightness of recording and if I want to look left I rotate to look left and move my stick right so I don't change my trajectory ! it's just logical and it's a 180 fisheye lens so hardly any need even if it wasn't a drone but like a pane would have a left right control logically as no way to fly sideways at all lest so well it's better than a helicopter or fighter jet in terms of manoeuvrability and also complexity in controlling. before this I lost 2 non gps smaller but good standard camera less drones ! love the bebop 2 skycontroller 2 VR set!

What are anyones thoughts about this as a starter drone with the FPV? I have played with friends basic ones, around 50$. I find the lack of flight time frustrating and this looked like a better option for live video and longer flight time. Is it simple enough for a starter?

Hi Marshall, I would recommend this drone as a starter as its very easy to fly good flight time and if you let go of the controls its just hovers in one spot. As for the FPV I would fly it just using a screen to start with then use the FPV when you are used to flying without needing to glance at the controls. Hope this helps.

not correct I believe the phone (Android) connects to the bebop 2 through the skycontroller ( 2 in my case . note that if skycontroller 1 works differently then ignore this post) by proxy the USB cable goes to controller from phone and wifi wants to. be on Bluetooth not gps wants to be on on the phone too. I set to gps only. dunno what is best. so phone connected to bebop if no controller is available and you fly via wifi and swipeng virtual joysticks on the phone not ideal but shows the phone too drone not controller is not required but makes it great fun. and can fly fpv or not fpv without VR goggles or preplaned

Also do you or anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive "toy" drone for my daughter who is 13. Under $100.

For a toy, or learning for the first time I recommend the SYMA X5C , it is nearly indestructible (unless your dog gets it) and has a short range. It can be flown inside your home and on days when the wind is not too strong outside. A couple of tips; #1 take time to learn all about the quadcopter and controls. #2 Find an open yard or field to learn to fly. #3 Practice, practice, practice. #4 fly into the wind to keep it from being blown away(it only weighs 106 grams) #5 If you must fly around trees, take the prop guards off as they snag bushes and trees really well. #6 Get extra batteries e.g. 7 minute flights 1.5 hours to charge them is a pain. $42 at Banggood or $50 at Walmart.com if you don't want to wait.

One major problem: Cannot use wifi encryption (WPA2) for a secure connection when using the Skycontroller 2.

Yes it disconnect, so you have to go to your settings and enter the PW to reconnect

Oh sorry I didn't see that you were talking about the Skycontroller... You must enter the PW in your setting then press the green "connect" in the first pannel of Freeflight Pro :)

Tried that. The Skycontroller connects directly to the Bebop 2 so cannot establish connection at all when using a PW. I tried what you suggested to no avail. If you can connect a Skycontroller using a WPA2 PW please show a video on youtube. Thanks.

I got one and idk how to get the videos from the drone onto my phone or where to find it PLS HELP

Handre you can plug in the usb chord in the drone and download the videos and pictures on your computer. I think the phone doesn't recognize the drone 8 GB memory,I have tried that myself too.

Don't know if this applies but I was unable to connect to my bebop 2 without having the skycontroller 2 connected to my 4s. While the bebop 1 did allow me to connect without the controller.
