. Characteristics of Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia!
Re-entry is an abnormal mechanism of impulse travel mostly seen in the heart cells. This phenomenon gives rise to arrhythmias.
There are 5 classes of sustained supraventricular arrhythmias which are paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, fibrillation, flutter, multifocal atrial tachycardia, and paroxysmal atrial tachycardia.
Dr. Mobeen Syed in this video explains that paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia is also called AV nodal reentrant tachycardia. This arrhythmia can start suddenly after a premature atrial contraction which can be either atrial or junctional in nature.
Clinically the patient can present with palpitation, shortness of breath, dizziness, and syncope.

My hart beats realy fast for a minute or two for literally no reason, it just did it today I'm trying to figure out what's wrong, it makes me dizzy, have shortness of breath and I feel exhausted during an episode. Psvt can happen at any time even if you’re sitting down watching tv. Talk to your doctor before anything serious happens. They’ll prob do an ekg and put a heart monitor on you.

Sourav Mohapatra did you have an ablation? Any update post op?

  • @patrickbrowder6857

Thursday I underwent the ablation for my PSVT and the Dr. could not get my heart to react even though he said that I "ran a marathon under anesthesia". He did mention that it may be difficult to induce me even though I am constantly experiencing palpitations, but nonetheless I am completely crushed. I've been in urgent care four times this year and it's completely taken over my life. On his follow up call he said that I have PAT and he switched me off metoprolol (I react very negatively to beta blockers) and onto DILTIAZEM CD. Any advice you may be able to offer Drbeen would be greatly appreciated. I have high blood pressure and have gained over twenty pounds this year so I need to work on my weight and it should be a easier now I'm off the METOPROLOL.

I have psvts and my episodes are really weird. So many people say they last 10 min for them but mine are never longer then 5 seconds at the most but now they’ve become more frequent. How are you feeling?

@@xxwhispersxx2856 umm, doing fine. Thanks for asking. I just attempted to move in with friends in Colorado but abandoned plan after 5 days when my symptoms returned I can only believe due to the altitude. Back at sea level, everything's fine. My episodes were like yours but multiple times in the morning hours. Sometimes they were longer n as mentioned, some landed me in the ER. According to my electrocardiologist I was very symptomatic. If you have PSVT apparently they're more frequent but of shorter duration. One thing I believe helps is meditation for learning to breathe through the episodes n I believe that mental calmness can overall improve the situation...and other facets of life. Anyway, I'm on my way to exercise to drop some weight n keep working on ❤ health. I hope some/any of this helps. This condition can be a real SOB at times n I want to say, stay strong! You got this!
