My boyfriend has PD with tremors. As for now prescriptions hold his tremors at bay for now, he has many family members that suffer from PD as well. It's great that you found something that works for you. It's a hard disease to battle and you are fighting like a warrior. Keep up the good work. The update you gave was wonderful. Frankly screw anyone that doesn't have or has no way to understand this disease. ❤️️

You're a real inspiration to me Ian seriously, I'm 21 years old, don't suffer from parkinsons but use cannabis for it's medicinal effects. But I only discovered it's medical effects after smoking it in a recreational manner. Cannabis prevents my migraines, it helps me get to sleep significantly, I have something wrong with me where i sometimes stop breathing before i fall asleep and I wake up right as I am about to transition into sleep and realize I haven't been breathing for awhile (not sleep apnea) and if I smoke some cannabis 1-3hours before sleep I don't seem to have the problem! I also have exploding head syndrome which is like a fire work going off in your brain (happens with a flash of white light) only when you are tired (and in bed). Of course it wakes you up straight away! But cannabis helps me with these problems and I just feel less anxious and troubled in general. Whenever I take prescription medications they also make me feel unwell and not myself and I feel like it affects my family relationships too. Iv'e decided not to take anymore prescription medication and I am going to try and find the perfect strain of cannabis for myself. Everyone strain is different and has different medical properties. I think it's just down to finding the best strain for yourself and medicating with whats best for you REGARDLESS OF THE GOVERNMENTS OPINION. I love how you understand everyone's condition is subjective and you don't relate your solution to what everybody elses solution should be. I like listening to you talk about your situation because I know you're honest in what you're saying and you relate to a lot of other people I know/or have heard about from others. BEST of luck to you my friend! Your personality seems so genuine and I hope you continue to find the best relief! If you ever get the chance to try cbd/thc oil instead have a little go, Not saying it will work better than the marijuana buds themselves BUT it definitely has the potential too but you can't know until you have tried :) P.S, Police cannot get you in trouble even from videoing yourself smoking it. Police can only arrest you if they find you in possession of the cannabis :) #legalise

Ian, thank you so much for sharing your story. I must admit, I am quite glad you posted this video explaining a couple of things as I also had questions. And I laughed when you mentioned the placebo effect; before you even said 'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn', I was thinking the exact same thing. If it works, WHO CARES! I commend you as well for taking the risks you did. But it certainly is helping to give great awareness to the potential of this natural drug. I have a friend with Parkinson's tremor that has just started trying it - he already has noticed a great improvement in his tremors. Once again - thank you, and take care!

I loved your videos. A close person of mine suffers of Parkinson. I thought about showing your video to him for a some time, but I thought that he would just think that cannabis is a drug, and that I was a fool just for thinking about that. Finally I took courage and decided to talk to him about alternative treatments, and I introduced the matter with your video, and now he's considering a medical treatment, with a doctor. Thanks. You did something meaningful for a lot of other human beings you don't even know. That is something I will never be able to repay. I wish you the best and more. Cristian from Italy

Thanks for your great video. I don't suffer from Parkinson's disease, but have another chronic disease. I specially like the way you talk about that it helps for YOU in your specific situation, and that you don't care about suggestions that the use of cannabis could just be a placebo effect. Just your experienced beneficial effects matter and you couldn't be more right about that. Everyone with a chronic disease can learn from that. I always tell them too: do what helps for you, don't get frustrated over what helps for others, and welcome any placebo effect (if any) because you feel better and that's the only thing that matters. I wish you all the best! (I hope my English is good enough - I'm from The Netherlands)

Marijuana improves my ability to think from multiple perspectives and devise detailed solutions. It enhances the mind's eye and deepens thought, improving my ability to craft an idea mentally before building in 3D and think of a multitude of effecting factors. The downside for me is the short term memory cloud I get for the first hour or so after the first smoke of the day, but after that it's unbelievable clarity. Marijuana is a lot more beneficial once you're used to it and do it every day, the euphoric effect dissipates as tolerance builds (you don't get as 'high') and you're just feeling the positive benefits. It effects people differently, as we all have different brain chemistry, but it works for me and it helps a lot of people. By banning the cannibis plant we've also lost hemp, the economic equavalent of wheat or corn. If its intelligently legalized in a way that enables the industry you'll see as many or more hemp fields as you now see of wheat. Hemp is more of an important loss to me than marijuana.

Ian, Thank You. Great video and followup post. I have Parkinson's but need medication every three hours, which gives me some relief for two hours and one hour of "no keyboard nor mouse use". Worst is lack of sleep, as nothing seems to help. I did get to try an edible in another state and it was the first time in years I had slept 8 hours peaceful, sadly it isn't legal where I live. Zero interest in getting high, most I drink is one pint (Porter or Stout). Still was amazing how well I felt by just being able to sleep.

Watching me sleep would be very boring! I have zero interest in getting high (one beer is fine), much more content to read a good book and occasionally enjoy a dark beer. Short of moving to Colorado, or another location where it could be prescribed legally, I really don't have an option. I have zero interest in it other than getting a good nights sleep.

And keep questioning. I personally have 2 family members who greatly benefit from marijuana use. One for immense back pain, and the other for a crippling lung disease. Cannabis allows them to live life with their families pain-free. There is no reason it should be illegal, it should be regulated just like alcohol.

Simple it was a poor person's drug. The war on drugs was a war on poor, specifically poor people of colour, but yes also poor whites. Some of the politicians who worked on creating the war on drugs have admitted that it was discriminatory on purpose. When you see the state of the prison system it makes sense. House the world largest prison population and make them work for near slave wages and have them spend all their hard earned pittance on phone calls and tiny luxuries. Cocaine which can cause overdose, and has a higher chance for risky behaviour gets you a light sentence, where as the same amount of marijuana which for most people have a calming effect and causes very little harm to the body and mind can get you locked up in state prison.

It's illegal still because pharmaceutical companies can't get a patent on it and make money off of it. so they lobby our representatives to keep it illegal. Also, think about how many people in the drug war will be out of a job. Actually, they could keep their jobs and focus on real dangerous drugs instead of cannabis.

I found your videos very interesting and I'm so glad you have found some effective relief that works for you. It is so important to share stories like this. As a student about to enter the world of neurological healthcare, stories like this help to broaden my knowledge of treatment options and give a glimpse into improving the quality of life for future sufferers of PD. Just wanted to encourage you, sir, and say thank you for your videos. We are new to cannabis and are being cautious due to the stigma still associated with it, even though it's legal here in WA. My mother in law has Parkinsons and is getting almost no relief now from the levo dopa meds and minimal effects from the other anti anxiety meds. She hardly slept and her days were a time of o e hour relief, followed by waiting out the rest of the four hours for the next pill in excruciating pain. She had also begin to have minor hallucinations and shake so violently she would sometimes fall out of her bed. We have seen some minor relief with Sour Tsunami #3 a sativa hybrid with high CBD. I hesitated to suggest a THC dominate after reading that THC could interact badly with the PD meds and cause hallucinations, creating more anxiety, bad trip. MIL bought candies at 10 mg each, and ate one every 4 hours or so. I see that you used 30 mg. We are kind of in uncharted waters here, not sure what to recommend for her without hurting her, and it is difficult bc she is not in her right mind and doesn't live with us, so getting accurate information on what her doctor says is difficult. But, we have seen positive results with the minimal forays we have made into the cannibis world. Thank you for your contribution and detailed information. Keep on keeping on and God bless you!

I'm just happy you're able to live a relatively normal life now. Technology is getting better, but it costs so much to have implemented, especially here in the US. There are tons of studies on the benefits of THC for neurological disorders. It's silly this stuff is being scrutinized. Good luck to you, and just know you don't have to explain yourself to anyone.

My father was an honest man and flew jets for the Navy. Like everyone on this planet, he liked having a good time. Being honest, he did not use cannabis solely because it was illegal. He used alcohol instead. He's dead.

Scary that something beneficial can still be suppressed so hard by our government. I wonder whether the misery my Dad endured in his last few months could have been relieved by this drug. It should have been available on prescription. MND, and all of these nerve related diseases are horrifying things to witness and (as I can only imagine) deal with. I sincerely hope there's money that keeps going in to fix this.

Hello Ian, have you tried Macuna Prureins? It can be very effective with virtually no side effects. I've had PD for 9 years and do not take and never have taken pharmaceuticals only Macuna Prureins which works a treat for me.

Hi Richard I did try macuna pruriens when I was first diagnosed, and it had no effect on me. Broad beans (Fava beans) are also meant to be therapeutic, but (again) had no effect on me. I'm just about to try taking Mannitol (google it) as there is some evidence that it reverses some of the symptoms of PD. Cheers, Ian

Cannabis, steroids, are medicines, but people only know negative things about them. There need to be test run to show people the positive side of cannabis and other drugs that were originally meant to help and cure diseases.

Could you please let me know what strains you are using. I am helping 3 men with Parkinson's using cannabis (In Colorado its legal). We are all just guessing. Strains can vary from state to state or country to country. One does very well on an Indica, Critical Kush all the symptoms relieve but does not help the tremors too much. Another Lemon haze (Sativa) or Harlequin (Sativa Dom). You are correct that Parkinson's is very different for each person because the other cannot tolerate sativa- makes tremors worse or the other cannot tolerate Indica cause all he does is fall asleep. One vapes, one can't vape, another takes in the form of concentrated oil in a capsule.

I use Northern Lights, which is supposedly high THC, low CBD and predominantly indica.
