So happy for her. The icing on the cake 🧁 for a stunning NCAA season. Would have made 5000m team if she hadn’t led it out but she learnt for the 10000 and now she is an Olympian!

Hey but she will probably run since St. Pierre dropped the 5k in favor of the 1500

I figured something out. If I watch her races live and I cheer her on in a Boston accent, she always does really well. "PahKa. LFG Pahka!"

The 5k pros are super tough. For an amateur to hang with them is amazing. 10k was a better opportunity for Parker.

If either St. Pierre or Cranny elect to run the 1500m only in Paris, PV might end up running the 10000m / 5000m double. Considering the U.S. Team possibilities, we might be seeing a lot of Valby and Schweizer in a USA kit. Whatever happens, as an American, Parker can be on my team anytime!

They're speaking as though her Olympic spot is a foregone conclusion (even Parker posted on her socials she's Paris-bound). I know it's likely, but is it 100% official? Don't they need to wait for the rankings to come out, then see how many people ahead of her scratch?

Citius explained the math on the after trials show and she’s comfortably in on ranking thanks to getting 2nd and the time they ran - I think Karissa is borderline and won’t know. Sounds like her coach told her she’d be in if she got top 3 but no idea how everyone is tracking all this live and I think the nbc broadcast gave up on trying to track it all and just decided to celebrate top 3 regardless.

"I knew my strength was probably the 10k." Is Parker actually better at this event? Or is her better finish because St. Purrier and Cranny weren't competing?

The numbers say the 5000m is still her best event. Parker's indoor 5000m equates very closely to the Olympic Standard in the 10000m. Her PB is +10s equivalent, but she hasn't run more than one full effort 10000m race.

@@jonb9194 A 14:50 5k, which is what Parker's definite max is in 2024, is 1182 IAAF points. Meanwhile, after running only 1 all-out (time-trial, record-attempt in which she ran half of the entire race alone) style 10k, she's run 30:50 -- 1202 points (= 14:40 5k). I think it's fairly obvious that her better event is the 10k.

@@matthewkelly6012 Actually, you appear to be correct. I'm not sure what I was looking at after Parker's indoor 14:52, but I thought it equated to a 30:40, but now I'm seeing a 30:59.

IF SHE FOLLOW COACH'S SIGN, I THINK SHE RUN IN HARD WAY. RUN OUTSIDE MEANS LONGER DISTANCE, TOO MUCH RUNNING FRONT LEADING TO TAKING ALL AIR RESISTANCE FOR RUNNERS BEHIND HER.. I think she is so hard worker but need to save stamina.
