Nice review. That "damage" caused by tightening the handle is why I started using those M5 nylon washers on my three-piece safety razors. Happy 4th of July!!!

Hi Mark, I used this razor for quite sometime. Yes, the finish on the head is not up to par as mine has developed a few marks and scratches over time. That said, it’s actually one of my best shaving DE razors that I own, and I have owned and used many DE razors over the years. It can nick ya if you’re not mindful, but that goes the same for any safety razor. Just to veer off topic, have you ever considered using a straight razor or even a shavette? I understand most people don’t want to get involved with the added expense & maintenance, like stropping, honing, extra care required, ect. I admit these reasons kept me from dabbling into the straight razor world. However I discovered a whole new world of shaving once I got started.

My first and only slant was a Merkur 37C, which I eventually PIF’d to a fellow wet-shaver, but have recently been considering adding one back into my rotation. I'm enjoying the razor, Beth. I've had to adjust my approach a bit, but not by much.:) It's super efficient and delivers a nice, smooth shave.:)

The Merkur 37c I ordered a couple of months ago shaves so well that I want to try another slant razor. I have ordered this razor as my second slant, cannot wait to try it.

Hi, EMZjester. I cannot compare to this to the 37C as I don't have one. However, I am very pleased with the Parker Semi slant.

I really like the Parker Semi Slant and I use it mainly. It took some time for me to get used to because it is slanted but it works excellent.

Agree, Nabeel.:) It gives me a great shave. It's pretty much 2 passes with it and my shave is complete.:) However, I can do a third pass if I so desire, just for the enjoyment of it.:)

Hey Mark just forgot to say in my last comment that my favourite combo in that razor is using Dorco Platinum St 300. For me is the best blade to use in that razor. Just give it a try and tell me later if you enjoyed or not. Big Hug of Frienship for you and please keep safe out there.

This was my first good saftey razor and I keep coming back to it. It's so easy to shave with this model and it always gives me a great shave. The better I get at DE shaving the better the shave I get. The semi slant glides so well to.

@@MarkSzorady yup totally is. I have the Parker 56r on order now. There's not one video on that Razor on KZread. I wonder why that is? It came out last year and seems to have gotten no attention no advertising no push from Parker. It seems like a nice mild Razor going by the description on the Parker website.

@@RobertNES816 The 56R is a nice looking razors. If the razor head is the same as the A1R(and I think it is), then it's a great shaver. If I have enough Amazon Points, I may purchase and review.:)

Hello Mark. I have one just like yours. I use it for about almost two years on my wetshave youtube channel. I only use Parker razors and never happened with me having marks on mine. And i don´t use M5 plastic washers. Mine is called Missis Slant. She is one of the stars with the famous Parker Variant. Mine is called Vallerie. I give names to all of my razors. The secret is don´t tight to much. You don´t really need to. Just tight enough but don´t over tight. It is harder to take the blade out later to clean.

Pedro, thanks.) However, I don't recall over tightening it. I snugged it up.:) But, it has not gotten worse.:) So, I think it's strictly cosmetic.:)

Hey Mark. I put the plastic washer on all of my razors. I did the same thing on my Parker Slant when I bought it. I also polished the head and not only looks better but I feel it is smoother. It can give you a BBS shave with very little effort. It’s in my regular razor rotation. Nice shave and commentary today. Enjoy your 4th of July weekend.

I have a Parker 82R with the very best knurling. I'd rate it mid-aggressive.

The 82R is a lined handle, correct? From photos, it looks like the it has nice, deep grooves providing a good grip.:)

Love slants 4 sure.. Already got RR German slant & PPA Bakelite OC Slant.. Thing is great efficient razors but not daily drivers.. So u think this Parker 1 (unfortunately haven't got it yet) strikes that balance between smoothness & efficiency?

Hi, Fire Cured. The Semi Slant does have a bit more aggression, but is still quite smooth. My initial thought is that it can be used as a daily diver. However, only time will tell. For me, it appears to be a two-pass razor. I can get a VERY nice shave after two passes. I've done three passes with the Parker Semi Slant with no ill effects. However, with that third pass, I do approach the cusp of a tiny bit of irritation. The alum block certainly records a few more zings, but no stings. Of course, this is the alum block doing its job in knocking down any potential irritation. The blade plays a role in this too. So far, I've had three pass shaves giving me zings with one blade, and three pass shaves with no zings with another. YMMV.:)

Hello Mark, this is such a beautiful razor 😍. But I still thinking wether I should buy this razor since I have sensitive skin. I heard slant bar are more aggressive but since in this video u mention that it's mild, is it as mild as Merkur 34C?

Imran, the Parker Semi-Slant has a bit more aggression than the 34C and more blade feel. it's smooth, but it's a notch or so above the 34C. If you want a slant comparable to the mild quality of the 34C, I recommend the iKon X3. As one reviewer stated that you'd be hard-pressed to nick yourself with this razor. @@MarkSzorady Thank u Mark for the recommendation! But actually I was planning to buy something that will perform more efficient yet still comfortable like the 34C. Will this Semi Slant be okay or is it just too much for my sensitive skin? I would like to give it a shot for the iKon X3 but the razor is not available in my country ☹️, so the Semi Slant is the only option that I have.

@@imransuhaimi3522 I understand and my apologies. The Parker is a good slant. I think it'll have the efficiency you are looking for while still delivering a smooth shave. You'll get more blade feel with it, but again, smooth. And the slant sensation while shaving is definitely there. I like to use a platinum coated razor with my Parker Semi Slant.

Joe, I had two days worth of beard growth. I really wanted to give the razor a little more to shave through...sort of take it through its paces. Plus, because I'm fair-skinned, one day's growth doesn't always photograph as well. So that extra day of growth helps my beard to register on camera a little more.

Just use a nylon washer. No Big deal.

You. Red a new camera, the quality is a bit low boss. Feels like the mailbag videos are much better. Great shave though boss!
