Paris Olympic Build: Go It Alone (Episode 9)
Спорт
Gearing up for the Boston 10k this weekend! My workouts this week were shorter than usual for a marathon build. Deceptively difficult. Finding that turnover I need.
We've reached a new parenting milestone: my 5 year old can now keep up with me on her bike. So fun to have the girls at the track to cheer me on.
Ended the week in rainy Boston! I've been here a lot of times, but this will be my first time competing here. Excited to send it!
In October 2023, I ran 2:08:00 at the Chicago marathon. Then, at the US Olympic Trials marathon in February 2024, I placed second and qualified for Team USA.
I will be racing the Olympic marathon at the Olympic games this summer in Paris. Join me during this training block as I prepare mentally and physically to compete on the biggest stage.

There's a simplicity to these videos that I love. The everyday grind, the inside look at what an Olympian does. Thank you for these super high-quality videos. Rooting for you all the way.

Thank you for the kind words as a filmmaker these sort of comments are awesome to read.
These videos just make y’all so relatable. Working out alone, being a dad (two girls also!) while training, feeling nervous excitement before races…love it. Keep up the good work!

"It's okay if they feel like garbage" --> Needed that
Great effort. Clayton is an incredible athlete. The dialogue between a great coach and athlete is fun to watch.
Clayton, Don't ever sell yourself short. You are fantastic. You can do anything Conner does. Your run in the trials showed that you can be at anyone.
Clayton is going to kill it in Paris. MY boy is fit! Love you son!! 😘

another awesome video. the music selection has been wonderful throughout the series, coupled with the sound of each footstrike is *chef's kiss* (exhibit A: 2:30). please please please share the tracklist for this video and the other episodes (or a playlist sounds nice too), if that's possible!
Great questions, great crew and amazing athlete, father and human being! Good work pays off! Cheers for you from Brazil!

Really enjoying this series. will be sorry when they finish but .. all part of the journey. Stopping this at 9:48 , will come back to it later . I have a 12 mile mixed pace run to go on this morning (Sunday June 30th) and its raining in the north of England still (about 52f ). yay go summer. Procrastinated enough , thanks for another post.

Agreed! It took me years to finally get the right mindset towards the "easy" workouts.
Need to know the sunglasses brand Clayton uses they are clean
Clayton, I’m curious about your thoughts on daily training miles in carbon shoes. It seems like you are always wearing the Metaspeed Sky Paris in your videos. Is that a coincidence or so you typically train in those shoes? You’re going to kill it in Paris!
@_Clayton_Young_
4 күн бұрын
I only use the Metaspeed Sky for workouts and races. Roughly 15 to 20 miles a week. The rest of my east mileage is done in the Novablast and Nimbus. For my long runs I do like the Superblast.
@jimmywu5924

Thanks, Clayton! Also, not sure if you are allowed to answer this question yet due to embargo issues, but do you think there is a significant difference between the rides of the Superblast and Superblast 2 (I assume you have the Superblast 2 already and I’m considering preordering it)? I would think there is a big difference since the feel of FF Turbo and FF Turbo+ is quite different to me in the Metaspeed+ vs Paris lines. But many of the reviews on the Superblast 2 that have already dropped say that they are really similar. Thoughts?
It looks like your left leg’s back kick is higher than your right, interestingly

Yeah, it's something that I've been analyzing as well. Trying to find the root of it and make sure that it doesn't cause any long-term problems.
In running and in surfing, you're really all alone anyway.
Which recovery compression device are you wearing here? Would you recommend a similar set for marathon and greater distance running? Thank you!

I use Rapid Reboot. Their newest travel unit is perfect for my needs, but I have also used their classic unit for years. I do a 45 minute session almost daily in heavy training.
Do you always run the same direction on the track? Or do you ever run the opposite direction to balance out your muscles with all those turns?
@_Clayton_Young_
4 күн бұрын
Yes, we do sometimes run opposites to balance out our muscles. It hasn't happened this build though.

Clayton said Mantz was doing sauna training. Can someone explain what that is and the benifits?
@HouseOfShanks
4 күн бұрын
Helps your body process and function in the heat. Methods vary but you basically build up to 20-30min in the sauna at a time and do it a few times a week (or as he has said almost everyday during the week)

Being heat acclimated is great however the big benefit is red blood cell production. RBCs = more 02!!!
