Paris' maison-stairwell stacks 4 floors in 25 sqm (269 sq ft)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When Alban Diner moved into his tiny Parisian apartment, the rooms were cramped and dark; the only source of direct natural light was a skylight on the 4th floor. Instead of finding a new place, he turned to architects Marc Sirvin and Clémence Eliard of Agence SML to create more space and light.
Heavily influenced by Japanese architecture and narrow, tall Toyko apartments, the architect couple designed a metal structure that would act as staircase/floor/ceiling for the different levels while simultaneously allowing light to flow from the skylight through two floors to the main living area.
The space is only 269 square feet, but the architects managed to create four unique levels/rooms for a bathroom, kitchen/living room, bedroom and even a home-office.

@@SOHara-ob7rl I agree. It's a bit odd to place the bed at the only spot with natural light source.. They could have the kitchen on the top (there's not a lot of room, but there's many multifunctional kitchens, where all functions are on one wall - folding doors, pullout table/workspace to choose from). I don't like all the plywood and would either change or paint it (if it was my place) because it looks worn out pretty quick. I think it's a shame to spend money on carpenters and choose the cheapest material (the carpenters did a pretty sloppy job, if you ask me). When building/renovating the manpower is always the highest cost on the budget (if you don't do it yourself). The staircase to the bathroom looks very sloppy made as well as the cabinet under bathroom sink. I would definitely sand and paint most of the plywood (or at least give it a whitewash), but sanding and smoothing the corners and edges would make a huge change. Also, where is the toilet-seat 😂? On the positive note; I like the metal staircase.

Vampie Fang...That rope ladder or climbing wall sounds cool. 😎...I was thinking some sort of glass elevator or lift situation...Maybe like thowe old-timey lifts they use in kitchens to transport food around the house, but for people...Some kind of treehouse lifting system...I might consider that if I was there, but otherwise, NOPE! I don't mind levels or tiny homes...I live in a tiny home...but I just didn't dig the design...something about it made me dizzy...The camera angles didn't help either...I do like the concept, but I think they boxed the area in too much with all the stairs...unless the camera angles on this one lent nothing to the design...I saw a tiny hotel that was made out of a vintage Crane and it was vertical...but it seemed to make more use of the small space than this home did...Again, it's not a bad idea, just needs a few modifications for it to work for me personally...My cats would LOVE it though. I want that apartment for my cats and a small one for me, with a pathway between the two for my Gatos. That would be really cool! 😎

@@RipleySawzen Sorry. That is not true. They pack into cities because of lack of opportunities in rural areas dominated by a handful of land owners, and people of color pack into cities for the safety that comes by creating a sizable community. During emancipation and the industrial revolution, the shift away from an agrarian economy due to the emergence of commercial farming, refrigeration and modern preservatives required most people to relocate to a city in order to survive. The old model of growing your own crops and livestock was not taxed out of existence, the market simply eliminated a lifestyle.
