@flyerT12 And they all were better than Caitlin Clark. One was the MVP as a rookie. One was first team all NBA. One averaged 20 points. One was all defensive team and second in DPOY. All of them averaged more points, shot better from 3, shot better from the field, and had less turnovers. They were the best players in the WNBA. CC isn’t.

I agree with Wilbon 100% here! Team USA should be about competition. Agreeing with Tony Kornheiser begs the question: Why have NBA or NFL playoffs? Why not just take the two teams that have the best ratings during the regular season and allow them to play in the NBA Finals or the Super Bowl? I will tell you why. When it comes the men's sports, we, as the "sports-watching society", want the appearance that sports are about competition. I will give you the perfect example. For the last several years, the NCAA CFP Selection Committee has stressed that their decisions on who to include the College Football Playoffs has been about selecting the BEST teams. If marketing rather than competition were the guiding factor, teams like Ohio State would make the field every year. This entire discussion around Caitlin Clark feels like a bunch of men telling women, "If you do not put who we want to see on TV, we will not watch." Dare I say, men would revolt if society demanded the same of them.

Clark isn't as good as the other players on the Olympic roster. It's about winning. Not about scoring.

CC's stats are way better than Taurasi, Griner's or Gray's in all categories and she is currently number 2 in the WNBA for assists, 15 in points and 7 in composite ranking. Fact, CC is the all time greatest women's NCAA basketball player in points and composite rating. If you don't think CC is one of the 12 best in the US, you don't understand the game. She walked off a long NCAA season onto the worst team in the WNBA and immediately became a league leader. Study the topic before you shoot off your mouth pocket-hanky.
