Parasitic BATTERY DRAIN (Part 2) "The FIX" - Honda Odyssey @Buckwsr

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Having identified the offending circuit (see video part 1, • Parasitic BATTERY DRAI... ), we then had to determine what components were fed by that circuit. We also followed a hunch that the battery drain issue might be tied to the faulty tailgate lock issue. As a result of that revelation, we happily managed to solve both problems at the same time!

Congratulations on a successful diag. Just so you know, there are those of us viewers who are perfectly fine with long videos. I would actually have preferred both parts of this one in one piece. An important thing to consider is looking forward 5, 10 or 15 years to folks who happen to find one part but not the other. If you post the link to the other at the top of the comments in both videos you’ll save us viewers some time and aggravation and present yourself as even more viewer-friendly than you already are! 🔧👍

You can usually get free online access to Chiltons or other repair manuals through your library card. Without going to the library. Just using your library card etc.

I commented on part one that my 16 Honda CRV is killing the battery if it sits more than four days. I forgot to mention our car is now six years old. All of a sudden a few months ago, if I have the key fob for opening the doors and locking the doors in my pocket. All of a sudden if I walk past the car within a few feet, the doors open by themselves without me pushing the button or touching the car handle. If I do nothing and walk away, then I walk past the car again, the doors will lock.. this car never did this since new until a few months ago. And a few months ago is when our battery went dead and I replaced it, and the second battery went dead because the car sat for five days when my wife had the flu.. I have a feeling it is the system that operates the key fobs unlocking and locking the doors. Because that system started working all by itself if I go near the car at the same time our battery started going dead ..

Your comments have interested me highly! Thank you for writing. For me, the breakthrough came when I realized there was a high likelihood that the battery drain was connected to the other problem I had been having with the tailgate. So I think it is very likely that your parasitic battery drain is connected in some way to the remote entry module / key fob electronics and the unusual things that are happening with it. You're putting 2 and 2 together, and realizing the two issues are probably related. Let me know when you get it figured out. And thank you again for commenting.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see you examine the blue connector for oxidation. I would have done that as well as the wiggle test while plugged in and then tried connecting and disconnecting several times to see if there was a change. I suspect oxidation or a loose connector pin or frayed wire, something maybe easy to get at right there.
