I wish they would've continued with this film/Jessie's story than the Ghost Dimension bs that was overhyped like it was gonna be Da shid & top all of the others as well as connect them all together perfectly. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing Allie or what's her name from pt2 Katy's niece again like we did on PA:Dark 1s on her tracking down covens & ppl related to this & her brother's disappearance/kidnapping.

This was by far the scariest one because it’s mexican style so more relatable

Even time travel for the first time to the year 2006 the first movie, true reason why Katie went all insane and screaming for Micha, because Hector on purpose or on accident went into the portal to the 2006 dimension, never to be seen again, but seriously, this one is a great film, it's such a damn shame for alot of people who disliked this.

This movie deserves awards. The acting is so good. Hats off to the two main, they delivered. And the writing was excellent - gang bangers blowing up witches. So good.

This was a very solid entry in the PA franchise. It had really effective scares, intriguing storyline, and THAT ENDING!! I only wished they named this movie Paranormal Activity 5. It really hurt the movie at the box office by doing so. Ppl didn’t really understand if this was a spin-off or a continuation of the storyline from the previous instalments.

I won't say my favorite Paranormal Activity cause I liked all of them. This was one is awesome though. There were some funny moments and creepy moments too. **SPOILER** I remember the part when Jessie was locked in the basement and you could see the demon running towards him to possess him. That scared the shit out of me! Omg The parts when they were trying to communicate with the demon were creepy af too

I actually enjoyed this one as I also enjoyed then first one and kind of the second one it was interesting to watch and was refreshingly new. If you come from a superstitious background this movie is actually quite relatable!! I give 7/10

An actual good horror found footage spinoff as opposed to the first four Paranormal Activity films and the fifth one too. There was a plot and things were happening unlike just waiting for an hour to see furniture move.

i watched this movie way back when i was like 11 or 12 and for YEARS i was trying for the life of me to find it and i couldn't remember what it was called. i just remember it terrifying me and i googled main parts of it and i still couldn't find it and i finally found it again. the wave of relief i just felt is insane 😭

I'm actually keen for this. . . I've seen all the movies, and It's a story line that makes me want to know what happens next, even if we get several movies. . .

This has always been my fav paranormal activity movie.. It's nice to see how ppl think cool this movie actually is cool now cuz it seemed like everyone hated it when it first came out

Wow, truly an amazing watch. :) I like how they showing different ways our mito can change us... not to mention putting them in this form lol just funny to see. Still only half way done watching this one and can't wait to see more. You'll see a lot more movies [horror Movies that is] go in this general direction. As long as people fear what they don't understand and yeah duh that's human nature if you don't know what "it" is or does course you'll fear it .. who wouldn't.. well besides those who do know what is going on. That is what is known as self awareness... not something many people possess these days. LOL now that .. that is scary haha.

Alright, let me get this straight. This is... 1) The only film in the series with an actual plot. 2) The only film in the series with an actual structure. 3) The only film in the series with proactive characters instead of merely reactive ones. 4) The only film in the series where characters actually spend a decent amount of time outside. 5) The only film in the series where the characters are all fairly intelligent and immediately take the paranormal threat seriously instead of just all calling each other liars. 6) The only film in the series that actually takes advantage of continuity. ...And this is the one that everyone hates and thinks didn't do anything different? Wow, words escape me. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is almost too impressive a Horror film for the franchise that it’s a part of. The film has an energy and an urgency to it at that you wouldn’t expect at all from these movies and I firmly believe that a lot of people just judged this book by its cover without giving it a chance. As someone who went in with an open mind, I found The Marked Ones to be a well made, exciting and terrifying Horror film that may just be the best film of the series. One thing that I’m stunned by going back to The Marked Ones is just how well structured it is. The film juggles vastly different tones in all 3 of its acts; A teen comedy in the first, a supernatural drama in the second and a straight up Horror film in the third. However, what makes The Marked Ones so impressive is just how naturally these segue into one another and how well they compliment each other narratively. The more goofy and juvenile tone of the first act genuinely feels like the kind of home movies some bored teenagers would put together, boosted by some great comedic performances by Andrew Jacobs and Jorge Diaz. They absolutely nail the wide-eyed optimism and carefree spirit of High School graduates with the world in front of them and their chemistry together is really endearing. The second act is much darker and more dramatic, not quite scary, but definitely investing emotionally. I felt like I'd already spent such a good time with these characters and bonding with them that I wasn’t ready for things to take such a dramatic shift. We all know how these found footage movies end, but The Marked Ones is the only film in the series that genuinely creates a sense of dread in its second act for that inevitable conclusion. I don’t want these characters to get hurt, not just because they’re likable kids with their future ahead of them, but because none of the tragic and violent events they face are their fault at all. The Marked Ones captures the tragic nature of destiny better than most Horror films that get 10 times the positive reception. The third act is when the film starts to starkly shift into the expected Horror tone and it works absolutely wonderfully. The tragedy of uncontrollable possession and the casual death of Hector's neighbors (To which the police seem ultimately very apathetic on, making our sympathetic heroes even more tragic and easy to root for) was already upsetting enough, but the tight jaws of the demonic and the otherworldly clamping down on our heroes with no possible route of escape is just heart wrenching. Make no mistake about it, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is scary as Hell. The demons this time around won't express restraint for the sake of lightly blowing open a door; they’re a constant presence torturing these characters both emotionally and physically. Images like The Witches ominously watching Hector and his friends from the shadows, the silent appearance of demonic Katie and Kristi as children and covens of witches with glazed over eyes chanting indecipherable incantations feel straight out of the very best of 60s Horror films and give The Marked Ones a sense of edge and panic that was lost on its previous entries. Hector’s gruesome post-possession transformation evokes body Horror, a wildly original take for the franchise with clear influence from classics like David Cronenberg’s The Fly. The ending is exceptional. Not only is it a genuinely jaw dropping twist that really opened up the creative doors for future installments (Or would have, at least, had Ghost Dimensions not been totally creatively bankrupt), it actually improves the original film in hindsight. It’s truly goosebump inducing. This is easily the best Paranormal Activity film. The funniest, the most emotional, the scariest, the meanest, the most creative and the most energetic. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it really frustrates me when people act like this film was just a dull rehash of the other films when it was anything but. If you only see one Paranormal Activity movie in your lifetime, make it this one. These movies are to my generation what Friday the 13th was to teens of the 80s.

2:04 is my favorite part

When is this film set? On the one hand, Kristi's step daughter is telling the protagonists in this film what happened, yet on the other hand, the child versions of Kristi and Katie are there with blackened eyes. What the hell?

Now the spin off has a connection to the previous ones but the direct sequel comes out later in the year: Paramount Pictures revealed the spin-off’s subtitle this week, and also confirmed release dates for both films. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones will start the year off on January 3, 2014, while Paranormal Activity 5 will be released in good time for for Halloween on October 24, 2014

Found footage horror can be the best movies you ever watch if the plot, acting and atmosphere holds weight. You cannot compare something like Grave Encounters to Chronical or even Rec.

First one and third was actually the best, second was normal and 4th was kinda...personally that was still normal, watchable, but not as good as previous ones. But first one was great, cause before there wasn't such movies, and such were the ones that I actually wanted to see, it had great paranormal effects, great feeling, at start when I watched it twice it had believable story etc. Btw, if they aren't on winning lottery ticket, then they wouldn't make more of them, realizing how non-beneficial they are, but aren't, a lot of ppl like first one. They started with budget of 15k, they earned 193mil $. Budget for second part was 5 mil, at the end earned 177mil $. For third part was 5 mil budget, at the end they earned 207mil $. For 4th part it was again, 5mil budget, but this time they earned 140mil $, cause it sucked. Third part was the best with all effects, first part was the best for starters.

I have watched the paranormal activity films, so far just finished watching this one, it was ok but gave me some serious motion sickness, had to pause it for a while as I felt sick!!!

gangbangers vs. witches, this crap movie wasn't even funny, completely boring until the mexican with the shotgun started wasting witches

am I the only one who loved all previous four movies and looking forward to this one? so Im assuming this is after the incident of katies family because they showed their photo for a brief second, anyway this movie looks awesome.

Why is everyone hating on this movie I think it looks badass and a scary enough movie to freak a girl out and cuddle next to you at the movies.

I have seen all four 'Paranormal Activity' films and this is the one I haven't seen yet.
